Gore Pockets Estimated $100M on TV Sale to Oil-Backed Al Jazeera
Free Beacon ^ | 1/2/13 | Carter Eltzroth

Al Gore’s Current TV confirmed Wednesday evening that it has been sold to Al Jazeera for an estimated $400 to $500 million, with the former vice president set to pocket up to $100 million from the sale.

In an email sent to Current TV’s staff, co-founder and former chief executive officer Joel Hyatt describes the selling process he and co-founder Al Gore went through in considering sale to Al Jazeera, acknowledging Current TV was a failed model.

Hyatt points to the Al Jazeera’s many accomplishments, including its global reach and for being the “only news network” that Obama-supporter Colin Powell watches, as factors in their decision.

The announcement makes clear that Al Jazeera plans to create a new international news network for an American audience called “Al Jazeera America.”

Refused to sell it to Glenn Beck, but chose rather to sell it to a fellow propagandizing hater of the U.S.A.

If we had a benevolent despot taking power, Gore would be one of the first to be lined up in front of a wall and offered a blindfold.

He is a true, un-American traitorous running dog.

Only in America can a lying fraudulent ex vice president create a worthless TV company that has NO VIEWERS and no money and NEVER TURN A PROFIT and turn around and sell to their Jihadist Friends for $500 million dollars. I am sure the State Dept is working on it right now to see if it really is a legit deal or some kind of payoff.not

I doubt too many people will watch. As it is, Current has about 5 viewers. Al Jazeera might increase that to 8. :)

Gore reminds me of Herman Goering. A fat blowhard, corrupt, bombastic, contributing nothing, but convinced that everything is about him. Herman made himself a very rich man, too — but it didn’t last.

The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that Glenn Beck’s the Blaze inquired about buying Current last year, but was rejected due to ideological differences. Current leadership told the Blaze at the time that ”the legacy of who the network goes to is important to us.” Beck confirmed the inquiry late Wednesday.

Does anyone have any doubt about where the so called democrat party stands?

Gore originally bought NewsWorld International for about $70m, and probably spent another $100m or so on it to turn it into Current TV, along with an “investor group” of his sucker buddies.

So I’m thinking he is taking a big loss on selling what remains of Current TV, because on the real market, its value is maybe in double digits a lot lower than he is getting from al-Jazeera.

On a small scale, he has just sold them a turkey, and it was also just announced that Time-Warner is no longer going to carry Current TV.

So the Arabs are already losing big time on the deal.

We WANT to pay more taxes, eh?

That’s what communist bigwigs proclaim! Selling out to and joining with terrorists’ premium TV channel and get PAID to be the terrorists’ consultants!

“American” Communists join hands with ME terrorists to take down the ME AND THE USA!

Try this for size:

“Al Jazeera did not disclose the purchase price, but people with direct knowledge of the deal pegged it at around $500 million, indicating a $100 million payout for Mr. Gore, who owned 20 percent of Current. Mr. Gore and his partners were eager to complete the deal by Dec. 31, lest it be subject to higher tax rates that took effect on Jan. 1, according to several people who insisted on anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly. But the deal was not signed until Wednesday.”

“In a letter to Current employees, some of whom are expected to lose their jobs, he said he and Mr. Gore would join the advisory board of the newly rebranded channel.”

Hope you are right,,,but I think that in a short time it will be the default station for most if not all mussies and their sympathisers in America, and possibly link up with MSNBC, and someplace for chrissy to go to

Directv carries Current TV on Channel 358. They also just announced a 4.5% price increase. For current Directv customers, this might be a good time to tell them to take Current Tv off the programming list.

I understand that Senator Finestein’s husband was one of the co-owners/investors of the Current sale ?
If the State Dept. is looking to see if it is a legitimate deal , I am sure that they will comply with the wishes of the Executive Branch .
Isn’t Senator Fienstein (D) currently the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Commitee ?
Maybe this is an attempt to bring Foreign Relations to the American under-informed people via the media by a foriegn country ?
What next .. advertizements for Sharia ?

I’m sure he’ll be happy to pay a big chunk of that because he’s “the rich” now. HE DIDN’T BUILD CURRENT TV! HE DIDN’T BUILD THE INTERNET!

We ought to hang him upside down and shake all that evil oil money out from his pockets. It’s the only fair libtard thing to do. (In case you don’t get it there was a libtard caller on Rush yesterday advocating this be done to Mitt Romney.)

It must be like selling NBC to Radio Moscow in the 50s,
though you can find pretty much the same kind of programming
on NPR these days.
