The democrats are going hell bent for leather to pass a gun control bill in the next three weeks. If you are counting on the republicans to stop it, you are going to be extremely disappointed. The GOP is going to split -- and a larger than expected portion of them WILL support the Assault Weapons Ban pushed by the democrats. It is my sense, at this writing, that THE ASSAULT WEAPON BAN WILL PASS CONGRESS and be signed into law by Obama later this month or early in February.
I can only ask that you forgive my frustration. You see, I am having difficulty grasping the fact that my fellow Americans are going to lie down, whimpering, as the bullies of the political left just run right over them.

I’m not sure the AWB can be passed at the fed level, but you can prolly count on a hi-cap mag ban and maybe some other tinkering. You are right......... the repubbies aren’t going to save us.

I completely agree with the sentiments expressed here. There needs to be organization rather than individual efforts while Chris Matthews and the corrupt MSM slander gun owners.
Where is the NRA? Yes, they had their dog and pony show, but how about organizing people and events? Isn’t that what they are supposed to be doing, or do they simply think they can continue to lobby behind the scenes this time?

You've got it backwards. The banking system controls everything. It is global, and it is feudal in nature. (fascist lite) It is the reason that Roberts indentured you and I to private insurance companies in which the banks are heavily invested. They own the media, too. It is the reason that Conservatives, even on FOX, are lambasted.
The global banksters have all the tools they need to hypothecate all of humanity. They have used the promise of socialism to sway the ignorant to the cause of destroying freedom, and they are using islam as a means of spreading fascist concepts and enforcement of same at the individual level.

write your congressmen and women and let them know how you feel about all this talk of gun control. If they don’t listen, we primary their sorry asses. They know we can do it because we have done it and they know we’re angry enough to do it again. Firearms owners have a lot to do with why Republicans have ANY power in Washington to begin with and if they need to be reminded of that, we can do that. We have done it before.

How long is needed to read a bill? 5 Minutes, if that? Whether it's 1 page or 10,000 pages, 5 minutes TOPS to read the bill.

The bills gave HUGE AMOUNTS of money (pork) to the states for “crime control”. John Dingell even abandoned his position on the NRA Board of Directors to vote for Clinton’s travesty.
Basically, the bills were loaded with BRIBES in order to get them passed.

Yes, but unless the constitution has changed, there is the little matter of the House. I have been calling the office of my Representatives and the Republican leadership and have been told flat out "There is no Assault Weapons Ban. Period." No bill has been introduced. No debate is scheduled, nothing is on the calender, and its is not part the Republican leaderships agenda". (I was actually told by Representative Capito's office "They aren't going to touch the AWB with a ten foot poll.") There has not even been a bill introduced into the committee process (Pelosi introduced one right after the Sandy Hook Shooting, but it died in committee with the Republican Chairman taking no action or even scheduling debate, at the end of the last congress.)
Now I'm certainly not saying concern isn't warranted, and we shouldn't be calling our reps and keeping the pressure up (like I said I've been burning up the phone lines myself). But saying some nonexistent Assault Weapons Ban is not only imminent, but is virtually assured of passage is nothing but hyperbole, unless somebody can provide some evidence to the contrary, I don't see the Republican leadership ever even letting such a bill get out of the committee process.

Over at Western Rifle Shooters Association web site there was discussion of an armed march on Washington and/or New York. After some discussion I think people felt that it was better to do such things at the state level, and I think some are being organized.
Unfortunately, they happen to be all we have to work with (other than a very few Dems in gun-loving country who can probably also be "convinced" (i.e. coerced) to vote against any such legislation). Better to prevent the passage of such legislation than to be forced into the "Lexington-Concord" situation.
Politicians NEED to be compelled to understand that this particular line in the sand has consequences.

In calmer moments I tend to agree. But things are dicey in Illinois, and the House has already gone wobbly re the fiscal cliff. Right now it looks like the Pubbies may at least go “OK, no more hicap mags”. JMHO.

I think were on the same page there, there is certainly reason for concern. But concern is one thing, irrational negativity is another. I'm just getting sick of seeing these posts that "It time to run for the hills! It's all over! The Assault Weapons Ban is a done deal, Obama's is going to get everything he wants, he's going to use his mind control device to force the Republican House to craft the bill and pass it by next week." I'm really glad some of these people weren't around during the Revolutionary War or they would have been declaring the cause lost before King George's ships even left Britain.
If you have land to bury stuff on, I recommend a trip to your neighborhood building supply store for some pvc pipe, end caps, plumbers glue, and a lot of dessicant.
