2013: Resist or Disarm. Start deciding now what form your resistance will take.

"The meek, he had been told, would inherit the earth, but only when the last soldier left it to them in his will." -- Captain Richard Sharpe, in Sharpe's Company by Bernard Cornwell, Chapter 10.

Sebastian, the ultimate pragmatist, has presented his read on the bills now entered, or about to be entered, into Congress: "We have a lot of work to do on the magazine issue. Most people, at this point, even pundits and elites, know the “assault weapons” issue is a crock of shit. The magazine issue is a different story." I left this comment on his blog which was not approved:

It doesn't matter what they pass, enough of us will defy it to make the choice mandatory for the rest of you. Fight or disarm.

Sebastian and other Fudd "pragmatists" may continue to hide from this reality if they choose, but J.D. Longstreet understands this in his piece The Next American Civil War:

At first glance it appears to be lunacy of the highest order—and yet—here we are on the cusp of violence to defend something the political left, an authoritarian cabal itself, cannot abide, AT ALL: personal freedom, individual freedom. . .

And now they intend to disarm us.

Look. There is so much pent-up anger in America today that if this argument over gun control ever gets beyond the talking stage it is reasonable to believe there will be violence on a scale not seen since the 1860’s in this country.

These fears are reinforced by the promises of the antis to 'pry guns from cold, dead fingers'.

But the time has not come to begin shooting -- yet. Feinstein's Intolerable Act has not yet passed, let alone begun to be enforced. The raid parties are

Americans have had it with the commie kids in the District of Corruption. I can see this getting very ugly.

Strange but the same thing happened to me! My buddy who was with me at the time promised to mail the report to the police. Hope it gets there before they show up.

I’m getting older too. May have just laid them down somewhere or put them somewhere I’d remember but don’t. Like a hammer or something.

Pretty sure I had a gun or two but I have NO idea where they might be at this point in time.

I understand where all of you using the “lost in a boat accident” argument are coming from. But I think you're missing the point, anybody can keep some contraband that the government declares illegal by hiding it and lying about it, heck millions of drug dealers do that every day, that doesn't take much courage at all. What we are talking about is throwing down the gauntlet, if this passes have several million gun owners say “Here is my name, here is my address, I own assault weapons and have no intention of registering them or turning them voluntarily. Now you can come and try to arrest me or take them, but there are X number of gun owners in my area that have sworn to defend me at gunpoint if necessary as I have sworn to defend them” “Balls in your court feds...”

I agree. However, we also have a body of laws that are self evident. So far this govt and others had decided those very laws don’t apply to them. That is, they are a law unto themselves. They’ve broken the contract we have with them. Those laws clearly define what authority the govt has and hasn’t. For some long time they’ve assumed powers and authority not theirs. So, it’s not as simplistic as your post might imply.

Why not quote the verse in context, so as to reveal the full meaning?

“1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.”

The rulers that we are told to obey are those which “are not a terror to good works, but to the evil”. If our government becomes a terror to good works, such as defending yourself, your family, and your neighbors, then its power is not ordained by God, and need not be obeyed.

Furious at the December 1773 Boston Tea Party, Parliament in 1774 passed the Coercive Acts. The particular provisions of the Coercive Acts were offensive to Americans, but it was the possibility that the British might deploy the army to enforce them that primed many colonists for armed resistance. The Patriots of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, resolved: “That in the event of Great Britain attempting to force unjust laws upon us by the strength of arms, our cause we leave to heaven and our rifles.” This British gun control program precipitated the First American Revolution. Laws that aim to disarm American Citizens at large will turn a political argument into The Second American Revolution! Not a second American Civil War.

After God, and the Bible you referenced, an American's governing authority is the U.S. Constitution. What will you do when an alien force tells you to violate the U.S. Constitution?

I'm 62 years old. When I was 19 I raised my right hand in a room full of young men and swore to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I have never been released from that oath and I hold to it today as strongly as ever.
I served 2 tours in RVN and I learned a few things that I could easily put into practice should the need arise. I have a number of guns. Let's just say I have more than 2 but less than 100. I will not register or surrender them. I will not bury them or lose them in a boating accident or let my dog eat them. Should the day come, I will distribute as many as I can to those family and friends who I know hold beliefs similar to mine.
I've had a good life. I've been married to a wonderful woman for 35 years, I have children and grandchildren. I'm not ready to go just yet, but I will not surrender to tyranny.
Come and take them!

Our Republic was established as a citizen gov't.

Not to be 'governed', not 'ruled' by governing authorities - but to have our business carried out by our REPRESENTATIVES. WAshington is not ancient Rome. How much blood has been shed to insure that over the past 2,000 years?

You can ride on the cattle car, if you like, but don't wait for us to take a seat beside you - besides, there ARE no seats in the cattle cars. Just human cattle crammed in like sardines.

God gave man free will. I'm pretty certain our Lord did not sanction the Third Reich.

I'm pretty ded-gum certain it was our Lord who assembled the largest army the world has ever seen to go against Hitler.

Besides, read our founding father's writings during the time this country was being formed. It is quite evident they were divinely inspired. They came against the most powerful government on the planet at that time...England.

We, are now free because of the actions of a few God fearing men.

I have never fired a gun myself, but I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. I have been married for almost 35 years to a probation officer (now retired) who is an expert marksman and legally owns several guns. My SIL is a former Marine who during his last enlistment was a Special Ops instructor. He now works for a military contractor and spends his days (and some nights) teaching young Marines how to handle their weapons. BTW, a good Marine would NEVER refer to his weapon as a "gun".

I think the reelection of an incompetent POTUS of their party has emboldened the Democrats and given them the idea that they can force their view of the Second Amendment on the rest of the country. I think their pursuit of gun control is a BIG mistake and will backfire on them. Americans are not going to tolerate a government who tries to take their guns from them! I just wish the Republicans would articulate their position more clearly. It's not that we want to return to the days of the Old West when gun fights took place in the middle of town, but we need to point out that it is gun free zones that these cowardly shooters are most likely to target and that many lives could be saved if someone present at these shootings were armed and could "take out" the shooter. I know the point that the NRA was trying to make, but I believe that employees or volunteers who were carrying a concealed weapon would be much more effective in preventing these tragedies than using law enforcement officers or armed guards who would be obvious targets.

Thank you - it irks me to no end at how many folks misquote or cherry-pick the Bible to make a point 9and always make the wrong point). These same folks will complain bitterly if one misquotes or takes out of context, anything in the Constitution, yet the Bible is fair game.
