Posted on 01/04/2013 6:13:49 PM PST by John Semmens
A photo of the 61 female members of Congress including the photo-shopped images of four absentees was defended by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) who says that the altered image more accurately portrayed reality than the unaltered actual photo.
Sometimes what you see isn't as true as what you should see, Pelosi explained. Since we now have the technology to seamlessly correct the official record it would be foolish for us not to use it.
The Minority Leader brushed aside criticisms that altering official history in this manner recalls a practice used by the former Soviet Union. Just because the Soviet Union was disliked by many on the American right-wing doesn't mean that everything they did was a bad idea, she said. There could be very good reasons for erasing or inserting certain persons in official photos. With everything being digital these days modifying the record is simplicity itself.
In related news, Pelosi asserted that one of the biggest problems we have in Congress is that many of those in the Republican Caucus don't believe in government. I'm not saying that they don't believe that government exists. They just lack confidence that government is willing and able to provide optimal solutions to society's problems. They persist in the delusion that leaving individuals free to make their own choices is better than letting government with its virtually inexhaustible power and expertise decide what's best for the whole.
if you missed any of this week's other semi-news/semi-satire posts you can find them at...
that “technology to seemlessly correct the official record” was, it seems, only in an early developmental stage when O released his so-called “birth certificate” -— ?
I think this time you accidentally left out the satire part. :-)
"The altered image more accurately portrays reality than the unaltered actual photo.
Removing the moustaches, hairy legs and hairy armpits does help improve the picture a little. However, it does lose the bag lady reunion effect.
Thanks for the ping John.
Yeah, maybe we should see:
How Osama bought it and the at-sea burial
How Biden got so damn rich to live in a “compound”
Obozocare hidden taxes
Obozo’s college transcripts and loan apps
Need I continue???
How do these people get away with this?
I don't believe there is one thing close to reality about this person.
Photoshop. It’s like botox for pictures.
You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another.
Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices,
Wish you’d add these Satire posts to your list of FR posts that piss you off...
It sure would be great if “(Satire)” would be added to subject line, much like our standard of having (Vanity) in the subject line. I’ll see a subject of interest, click on it, wait... wait for it to load..., then start reading the post until I realize it’s satire. The keyword tags are so small and are intended for the search function.
Piglosi’s a “target rich environment”, ain’t she John? ;-)
Can someone with computer skills please photoshop in the brooms?
Image #1 (below) is of Nikolai Yezhov (right) with Josef Stalin.
Image #2 (below) is the same image, retouched by Soviet technicians, after Yezhov had been executed.
This practice was common, during Stalins' reign.
That Nancy Pelosi see nothing wrong with similar manipulation of official photos, speaks volumes about her, and her party.
At first I was like, “Well, they are actual members that were just late or unavailable so they were photoshopped in later so that the representation is accurate.” But then, I was like, “Why do the dems not care if everything is fake and inaccurate in every other area of life, but this has to be photoshopped??” It’s because they are such manipulative pieces of cr@p.
lLiberals lie. And then lie some more.
In the early days of the Bolshevik Revolution, Comrade Stalin (lower right) had few friends and was forced to labor alone. Eventually, he found one friend (lower left) who would assist him him in his efforts for the Russian people. Together, these two friends made contact with a third (upper right). Eventually, many revolutionalies came to appreciate Stalin's genius, and he had a great many friends (upper left).
A clear *Satire* indicator would be nice. John, as much as I love your writing, there are people here who don’t get the satire part and go and post these gems as Real News somewhere else. Or blow a gasket here! Truly shows your talent.
I once wrote a satire piece about a Free Speech Waiting Period and too many people took it seriously!
Whoa!!!! I almost posted a reply.
Stalin had the habit of removing people from photographs. Pelosi just added people to a photograph. So I told the story backwards, to make Stalin and Pelosi do the same thing. It's satire, remember?
That’s what makes these so fun.
I almost got trapped but, then thought “Whoa! Wait a minute. That sounds almost too stoopit to be true”.
I bailed on my response, looked at the poster and was glad I didn’t respond. I would’ve looked even number than I already am.
Satire Shoe? LOL ....WTH?
Pelosi: You have to take the photo before you can know who is in it.
Queen Nan looks her most elegant best!
‘Rats lie routinely anyway - what’s one more phony photo.....
Semi news/Semi satire in red at the top not enough for you to see?
Hey san fran nan, can we use modern technology to photoshop the two grifters out of the white hut too?
Well, it's not excerpted. That kind of gets it a pass.
While the war on blogpimping has been wildly successful,
branching out into other areas might be pushing it a bit.
Nothing prevents you from starting your own vigilante action, though... ;-)
Of course Botox Nan is fine with anything being “doctored”...
LOL, well done John.
Real quote from Pelosi: “And not only were they women, but they reflected the beautiful diversity of our country.”
She added Wasserman Schultz to the altered photo. That should definitely alter the beauty aspect.
This is just too funny. Thanks again, John, for the ping.

Sounds like something SanFranNan would actually say in reality.
Thank you, that’s exactly my point. They are very creative and effective satire but what’s the harm in helping us out a little?
John pointed out that “satire” appears three times in the post.
