Six months ago, Thor, a German shepherd mix, was enduring a painful life of abuse. On Thursday, he was flying home in first class courtesy of Alaska Airlines following specialized surgery on his jaw which took place in California.
Life has changed greatly for the young dog.

These pictures brought tears to my eyes. The face of this beautiful dog has been marked by both the compassion and the cruelty of man. God Bless those who showed Thor compassion.

I am 55, do not have any kids that I know of and love animals especially dogs.
I have 3. Big 155lb Rottie and 2 Aussies. All males and they are best friends. I am the Alpha so they do not get aggressive with each other.
I seriously can not watch that commercial on TV that has Sarah McLachlan narrating or singing or whatever she does. Breaks my heart and makes me want to cry.
This story is both sad and great because it does have a happy ending. I used to raise GS and they are fantastic dogs.
My boys are sleeping at my feet as I am typing this.
That is wonderful.
How lovely it must be to fly in first class with your dog next to you.

Sarah’s voice is especially fitting in those commercials.
They are very tough to watch, but it is the eyes of the animals that crush me.
I could show you a dog that would have you sobbing on the floor and it’s fighting for its life, right now.
“A group of teens” [ahem] doused it with alcohol and set it on fire.
So far, none of their ‘peers’ have turned them in.
Absolutely crush me also.
They did this on purpose and it works.
But I just can’t watch them!

Oh my dear Lord in Heaven...
I think I have come to hate teens.
Was listening to an audio of teenagers in Ohio discussing their gang rape of a girl earlier this evening.
It is as if people are becoming monsters, Salamander.
This reminds me of when I lived in New Orleans and a flaming box of living kittens had been reported uptown on a busy street corner. A person had been seen dousing them and then setting them alight.
I thought to myself at the time had I seen this person do this, I think I may do the same to them.
Since then, out of my former town, I have seen reports of firemen’s dalmation being beaten so badly that two of its legs had to be amputated, she had gotten out one night apparently. Another story indicated that someone was routinely skinning dogs alive and leaving them to hang.
Sometimes knowing things like this makes me hate humanity, Salamander :(
I pray that the Lord eases the pain of the dog who has been burnt, and that the dog makes a full recovery and still is able to love man.
I also pray that the Lord damns those who did this to burn in Hell for eternity, because they deserve that.
Jayster, I am kind of the same way.
I’ve been down some dark hard roads, I’ve seen tough times, I do not have a lot of compassion for man, and I do not shed tears for them often.
But when it comes to animals, I cannot bear their suffering. I cannot stand that man abuses them for his pleasure. I would rather they abuse me instead, because I guarantee, I wouldn’t take it.
Sometimes I can barely watch or read stories of our furry friends. What happens to them cracks in me half. Though I must say it makes me very happy to see that some people respond to this with pure love, and that is wonderful to see.
All the dogs will still love man.
It’s their nature.

I don't even know what to say. The thought of that turns my stomach. Honestly, a person such as Dexter should send these demons back from where they came in the harshest possible manner in my humble opinion.
