Enough is Enough: Has the Third Party’s Time Come?
Facebook ^ | Jan. 7, 2013 | Chuck Heath Jr.

This is an issue that I've been mulling over for quite a while. I wrote more about the way I'd set this up, but I wanted to get some of your feedback first. Let me know what you think.

Enough is Enough: Has the Third Party’s Time Come?

We’ve lost our way. The American political system is a mess. The divisiveness between Republicans and Democrats seems insurmountable and it’s getting worse every day. I could get into the reasons that this is happening, but I doubt that would change a thing.

It is very painful for me to see this country literally becoming unraveled at the seams… especially when I look at my own children’s future. I’ve watched friends and even family members break ties over political differences. I have watched good, smart people enter politics and seen them change for the worse over the years as they’ve become part of the political machine.

Political seniority often leads to leadership positions but has nothing to do with performance. Casting a favorable vote for something you may not even believe in, just to gain a committee chair or for some other future favor, is rampant in politics.

It’s a very dirty game and it’s the reason so many really talented people never get involved in it. It’s also the reason my sister Sarah Palin, has been so viciously attacked over the years. She refused to “play the game”. She has always stuck to her principles and because of that, she is viewed as a threat. I’ve watched people in both major parties do everything they can to demean and destroy her. And all for what… for trying to limit the size of government? For asking all of us to do our share? For insisting we spend less than we take in? For ending crony capitalism? For going above and beyond to support our military? For utilizing our natural resources in a responsible way? For praying? The list goes on.

Let’s face it. As it stands now, it’s impossible to be elected to a high national office without being a part of the Republican or Democratic Party. I propose that the disgruntled citizens of the United States… Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians… persons of every race, religion, economic status, and whoever else is interested, join together and form a new party. I’d simply call it, the American Party.

Food for thought, discussion. Chuck Heath Jr. is Sarah Palin's brother. For my part, count me in!

We have TWO parties? All I’ve seen for the last 10 years is two wolves (the RepubliCrats) and a sheep (the people) trying to figure out what’s for dinner.

Works for me.

The GOP has been deconstructing Reagan and conservatism for twenty four years.

Nothing changes.

Does anyone really expect 2016 to be different, when names like Christie, Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio are being bandied about? And the last one isn’t even natural-born.

The goal is the same. Let us not argue over semantics.

Any idea of an upstart party challenging the two major parties is doomed to failure anyway. Better to keep picking off the seats we can put conservatives into.

If the conservatives leave the Republicans, common sense moderate Democrats will feel safe to move to the Republican Party. Interesting times.

We had that moment in time 4 years ago. For folks that think we can reform either of the two parties... Forget it.

I think I disagree. I believe that moderate Democrats are as fed up with business as usual as are those of us on the right. I believe the Reagan coalition is still available if there is a credible movement to get behind.

NOW IS THE TIME—IF the GOP could lose with Obama—they can never win. They are finished. My prescription:

1. All Tea Party Conservatives Bolt the Party
2. Form a new Party or take over an existing 3rd Party.
3. Organize at a Grass Roots Level
4. We need charismatic leaders—think outside the box to Actors, Talk Show People, Former Generals & Admirals, People from Sports, War Heroes, Teachers, and writers.
Plan for 2016.

Yes, I am in, too! The republican party will draw less and less. according to Rasmussen, conservatives still make up 40% of the population. If we can draw conservatives from BOTH major parties, we could be the leader. Some democrats are tired of the status quo, as well. This is the time to go for it. If we wait until the 2014 elections (mid terms) we’ll not be strong enough.

The rancor between the two parties is a dog and pony show, Congress is a Mafia and if you got a third party started, they would not last a year.

Who can not be bought, can be eliminated in other ways. Terrible traffic accidents happen all the time.

The Democracy phase is long gone, the Fascist phase is in full swing.

January 21 will mark the beginning of the Totalitarian phase. Opposition parties do not do well in Totalitarian counries. And that is my two cents worth on a third party.

Nope.

Radical thinking is required if we are to affect radical change.(Restoring liberty)

Right. Google “Third Party in the United States.” Take your pick from the two dozen or so.

In the 1920s the Socialist Party got a few percent of the popular vote but zero electoral votes. They changed strategy and determined to grow within the rat party. FDR, LBJ, BJ Clinton, BHO are all the spawn of that decision.

The salvation of our republic rests within conservative/tea party takeover of the GOP. It is nowhere else.

About 20 years ago. The issue is the electoral college and no runoff.

If the Republican Party continues to devalue the Conservative moment and belittle us then yes I am all for creating a whole new party. The Republican Party is trying to Out-Commie the left by promising free goodies too and it wont work..moochers will always vote Democrat..the sooner the GOP remembers who the hell they are the better we will all be..I am all for trying to fix the GOP but if they are too broke to be fixed then count me in I am ALL for being part of a true Conservative party!
