The school says on its website they offer a "Christian environment with an emphasis on teaching Biblical principles and truths" and yet these two gay men chose to sue the school for "compensatory and punitive damages" when they denied their child's application to attend:
"A homosexual couple has sued a Christian preschool in New Mexico after the school had accepted the three-year-old boy the two men are raising as their son, only to reject the child later. In their complaint the two men, Joseph Romero and John Keelin, allege that officials at Hope Christian School in Albuquerque first accepted their three-year-old son, then sent them a denial letter when the school realized the boy's parents were homosexual.
In the lawsuit, the two men claim that they were even told that a new student packet has been prepared for him and that the school was expecting to get acceptance letters out the following week. But shortly after that notification, the two received a denial letter on April 16, 2010, the complaint continues. Upon further inquiry, the school sent a letter dated June 13, 2012 to plaintiffs' attorney. The letter indicated that the school denied admission to plaintiffs' son because plaintiffs were a same gender couple and that, as a result, their home was inconsistent with the school's beliefs.

Just a couple of instigators.
Self-loathing narcissists strike again.
Counter-sue them AGGRESSIVELY for costs and time wasted and punitive damages.
Look online to see if these jerks PLANNED this in advance.
Did they post it anywhere?
The 2 ass munchers planned it from the start. But blame to the school as well for not having the diligence to look into the background of the kid.
If I were at the school I’d accept the child and try to expose him to as much Christian love and normalcy as possible because God knows he won’t be getting much in the way of normal at home.
Me too. I can’t see punishing the child for the acts of his parents. Seems to me a Christian environment would be the perfect place for the little guy. That said, I do support their right to turn down the child even if I don’t agree it was the best thing.
If only it were that simple. These two instigators would just have been waiting like buzzards for the slightest opportunity to pounce. Wonder who is paying them? Follow the money.
Does the pre school accept any state or federal funds? If not than I think these two moms/dads/whatevers should be told to take a hike! I thought one of freedoms was the freedom of association.
Here's a billboard of the school's mission statement, btw. It seems pretty clear where they stand on their faith and their values. Makes me think even more this was a setup.
I’d go all King Solomon on them and order that the child be split in half.
Just sayin...
It was a win either way.
If the kid is denied they can sue.
If the kid gets in, the entire school is exposed to the deviant lifestyle. Every parent teacher conference will be a ‘show and tell’ for the other kids who probably have never given a thought to same sex ‘parents’. And will, of course, ask their parents very insightful questions about that. At the tender age of 3. Or 4. Or 5.
You can bet any and all athletic events, school plays, recitals and field trips would be utilized as ‘teachable moments’ complete with PDA’s, willing answers to little kid questions and used as an excuse to ‘get in their faces’ with the deviance.
And the entire time they would be looking for any sign or hint of discrimination or bias from the school, other parents and even other kids. To sue, of course.
The school was in an unwinnable position here.
The problem is with the image it projects to the children. We have a problem at our school if a kid all of a sudden shows up with as much as an iPod. Then all the parents have to deal with “I want one too” discussions. Can you imagine the discussion about why Johnny has two daddies?
The success of good schools is in large part to maintaining an environment where the kids are exposed to like minded families. You would throw a lot of that out the window if you accepted one alternative family.
Of course, the fact that two sodomites have a three-year-old that they aparently have custody of and are raising as “their child” is not a problem...
It’s looking more and more sensible to have sodomy outlawed, since there is no end to where these wackos are going to push us.
True but also they would sue the school later for teaching their kid that being a homosexual is a sin. So either way they are dammed if they do or dammed if they don’t.
what damages?
the cost of the gas to file the application?
The school does accept some federal funding, which unfortunately is going to make this a slam dunk case against them. Hope Christian School is less than 2 miles away from where I'm typing this, and it is a terrific school. But I think this is the second time where accepting federal funds has come back to bite them. To retain their freedom, they are probably going to have to up their rates and scrap the public funds.
People need to read Ephesians. This isn’t a war against liberals or socialists or homosexual perverts. It’s a war between the forces of satan and the rest of us. Evil is real, and the sooner people understand that the better.
I am sure of only one school near me Southern California that does not accept any state or federal funds, Biola University. I have done work there in the past and have been specifically told by them that they refuse any funding that would force them to compromise their beliefs.
“But blame to the school as well for not having the diligence to look into the background of the kid.”
The kid is 3 years old... not much background...
