RALEIGH Many North Carolina gun owners and gun enthusiasts are worried that new gun proposals that go far beyond an assault rifle ban would make many of the otherwise law abiding 80 million Americans who are gun owners into criminals if they do not register their weapons with federal authorities.
National and international media reports have stated that the White House under a committee led by Vice President Joe Biden is going to seek sweeping changes in how guns are registered, sold, and taxed in the wake of the Newton, Connecticut school shooting.
Under the potential proposals which have yet to be officially announced, all firearms would be required to be registered in a national database that would keep track of all guns and who owns them. The database would include all new guns but also would include all guns that have been sold in the past, as there would be no grandfather clause in the new proposals.
In addition, one gun shop operator told the Telegram that the proposals could basically treat all firearms as class three weapons.
This would mean that they would be tracked in a national database, that there would be a substantial tax on the guns, and that they could not be passed from generation to generation as they would be destroyed upon the death of the registered owner. In addition, it would be a federal crime to transfer the guns or even to own them without having them registered, even if they were legally obtained...

It’’s not to shame or endanger us, but to CONTROL us!
These same liberals who say, “Think of the children,” have no problems killing unborn children in their mothers’ wombs.....55 million children killed by abortion since 1973 and counting.
In which we find (search on Clinton in the text):
"Anyways, I had to sell it shortly after because Bill Clinton was an idiot and made this shotgun a class 3 item and I was not 21 at the time."
Other details are probably out there, somewhere.
grobdriver, did you mean this post for me? The question I had asked was for more information re Gun Appreciation Day. FR has been glitchy for me today & I know for some others (multiple posts TNFTO).
Lived in WV all my life, and never had a beef with anyone. Still makes me slightly nervous to go there.
I know of LOTS of “hollers” over there where no one can hear you scream, even if you scream into a cell phone or radio.
Spread from gun shops to street corners... we are.
No worries. (More concerned that your post got to it’s intended recipient)
“No Guns for Negroes” video
We are “ALL” Criminals... it is just a matter of degree and what the enforcement de jour happens to be at any given moment.
Forgot to ping JRandom ... I’m with him... there are many Laws that I just ignore.
I don’t remember who said it (long ago) but basically
“Nothing is illegal, till ya get caught”
isn’t there a phrase somewhere called ex post facto???
GREAT, maybe this isn't so bad after all!!!!!!!!!!
Ex post facto means you can’t be charged for a crime that wasn’t illegal when it was committed.
So, you won’t get in trouble for the weapons you purchased years ago, however, you are still in POSSESSION of them, which is the new crime you are committing after the law has been passed. Or failure to register them, etc. You just won’t be charged for illegally purchasing them. There are plenty of ways for them to get around ex post facto.
It’s already like that here in Massholeville.
Can’t leave the gun store until the feds do a check.
Only takes a few min. but thats not the point.
don't be ridiculous...the dems will vote for the village idiot WHILE he is taking away their guns....Pathetic...
US gun registration: The smallest database in the universe.
