DANBURY, Conn. (AP) Gun control activists gathered Tuesday at a Wal-Mart store less than 10 miles from Sandy Hook Elementary School to demand the company stop selling military-style rifles.
About 80 protesters, including three directly affected by recent mass shootings, helped deliver a petition to store officials they said contained that names of almost 300,000 people who want Wal-Mart to stop selling rifles similar to the semi-automatic Bushmaster used in the killing of 20 children and six adults at the Newtown school on Dec. 14. The names were gathered online.
The interest and the commitment of the American people to this right now is like a tsunami, said Lori Haas, a protester whose daughter Emily was wounded in the April 2007 Virginia Tech shootings. I've been doing this for five years and this feels different. I can walk into the halls of Congress now and every door is open to me. The time is now.(continued)

ignorant jerks. throw away their freedoms because they cannot control their emotional state. Worse, they condemn millions of others to the same fate because they want revenge.
Is it little wonder that our country is in the state it is in today with idiots like these voting?
“Gun control activists”. ANTI-Gun Rights activists.
If pro-lifers and those against giving morning after pills to young girls without parental consent “want to own womyns’ uteruses”, why aren’t THEY the ones called “birth control activists” since they ‘only’ want “control” of births?
Found this in the 2nd to last paragraph.
These have gotta be union guys. If they’re acting like sewage, they’ve gotta be union guys.
We need to be even more vocal and more visible in our defense of the 2nd amendment, a "seawall" against their tsunami.
Participate in Gun Appreciation Day observations in your state this Saturday.
The correct response to these scum is:
You should be ashamed of yourself. First you create a child slaughter area with your “Gun Free School Zones” then when a killer takes advantage of it you parade the dead children around as a prop to try and take away the right to self protection from the rest of us law abiding citizens.
It's a good thing 2A doesn't care about your feelings.
..tell us this wasn’t organized by Holder...
The east coast no longer counts.
It shall be fenced, surrounded, and we will televise the liberal/liberal hunger games.
Shove it up your collective Obamas, libs, your time is most definitely coming.
Oops, that’s “ end of time”.
My two stores here in Denton sure do. They had some GREAT prices on AR-15’s (under $400) before the Newtown shootings.
The killer did not use a rifle, he used hand guns.
Wait a minute. Lori Haas is protesting on behalf of her daughter who was injured. If this is such a important issue, why isn't the daughter protesting WITH her?
Lori is no different than Cindy Sheean using her son's dead body as a stage. They both are a insult to pond scum.
This is Holder’s “shame them” angle at work. They are going to use their sycophants in the media to mass publicize each one of these little extortion petition deliveries.
Why can't some of us who believe in 2nd walk up to store officials IMMEDIATELY after and tell them the truth?!
All the military style rifles would be out of stock by now.
That WM doesn’t even sell firearms. They idiots just found a nearby Wal-Mart and showed up.

I will use that. Thank you!
“...to demand the company stop selling military-style rifles. “
Here’s the deal, unless you are on the board of directors of Walmart, I don’t think they care about your “demands”.
Private businesses make their own sales decisions based upon what their customers want to purchase.
I’m pretty sure you whining, crying little losers won’t have much impact on a multi-million dollar industry.
In an interview (above) aired on the April 18, 2008, edition of NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, Lori Haaswho has never been involved in a mass shooting and who has no personal insights into what happens in a mass shootingargued that being armed could not have helped any of the victims of the Virginia Tech massacre because the shooter had the element of surprise. For Mrs. Haas to make such an argument is not only ironic; its downright bizarre, since it was her daughter Emily who recounted to CNN, five days after the shooting, how she hid under a desk listening to gunshots, waiting and hoping the shooter wouldnt come into her classroom.
Lori Haass claim that students in the midst of a school shooting would be too paralyzed by fear to use handguns in self-defense lacks credibility in light of the fact that her daughter wasnt too paralyzed by fear to make a cell phone call to 911. At one point Emily even reported to the 911 operator that the gunman had stopped to reload. She was still on the phone with the operator several minutes later when the gunman entered her room for a second time. Though Emily survived with only superficial gunshot wounds, her professor and eleven of her classmates lost their lives.

Um I was just in this Walmart store this afternoon.
They don’t sell guns there, I don’t believe they ever have. I don’t believe they sell ammunition, either.
(Oops, just read that this info is contained in the article, which I didn’t see, but my observation above was from personal experience.)
