It is tough to do on the political threads where I generally just post fairly innocuous comments. However, sometimes there are DUmmie threads where I completely agree with the sentiment, such as F*ck Lance Armstrong.. where I was able to post my REAL opinion several times without fear of detection as an LFT.

This has been a big topic on KLBJ, a conservative talk radio station in Austin, and many people have been calling in and sharing their opinions on Lance and his sit in with Okra. Most have not been been in support of Lance and some want the bike way named for him to be renamed now.

If only the DUmmies would hold their politicians to any real standard I might appreciate their angst

Only in the real world, but 14 times is a record for today. Ya need some WD 40 on your mouse buttons.

I’m kind of “meh” on the whole Armstrong thing. Anyone who believes that the top athletes in pretty much any sport are “clean” are deluding themselves. To that extent, Armstrong played the game as it is played — PEDs and doping, masking agents, and vigorous denials. It’s like holding in football — it goes on all the time, the only question is whether or not you get caught doing it.

It doesn’t make him any better — or worse — than his fellow competitors. He’s just a bigger story because of what he accomplished before he got caught.

What I DO have a problem with, is the way he lied. I mean, sure, they all lie, but his was probably the most Epic PED lie in all of sports. The sanctimony, the outrage at his accusers and critics.. that was ugly.

Agreed. But on the other hand, he had a lot more to lose than the typical case, which makes his more extreme behavior in denial a bit more understandable. (Not right, mind you, just proportionate to what he stood to lose.)

Dummies Slam Lance Armstrong

He took drugs and made huge amounts of money. That usually gets their approval. What happened? Did he come out as a Republican?

He never would have admitted it if not caught. It's not so much that he groped, but that he lied about it and continued to lie about it in spite of the evidence. And - maybe the worst part - had a lot of people stand by him and defend his name in good faith while he kept quiet. He's an asshole.

I doubt we ever heard any DUmmie say this about "Father* of the Year" Bubba...

Funny -- or FUnnie. Where was the outrage in DUmmieland when people were saying the same things about Bill Clinton with regard to Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky, including allegations of subornation of perjury and intimidating witnesses? I clearly remember his minions fanning out across the airwaves to defend him against the "vast right-wing conspiracy".

“It’s only considered wrong if you are American”

That is the crux of the matter. It’s a Eruopean sport. And Lance isn’t a cuddly kinda guy.

Do I think he is right? Nope.

No more than I think that McGwire (I don’t want to talk about the past) or Sosa (I no speaka de English) were right.

Different sport, I know, but the same thing.
