Skip to comments.Video: NRA's 'Stand and Fight,' targets Malia and Sasha Obama (Uh, no it doesn't)

The NRA released on Tuesday an ad that accuses Obama of being an "elitist hypocrite," because he provides armed protection for his children but insists that the nation's schools remain "gun-free zones."
The video is part of the NRA's offensive dubbed "Stand and fight," in response to its anticipation of Obama's announcement of stricter gun control measures. According to Boston.com, the 35-second video posted to YouTube by user HotWeirdNews, also appeared on the NRA's website on Tuesday. However, the video was removed from the NRA's website by Wednesday morning. The ad begins with a shot of a school, the American flag and a voice-over, saying "Are the president's kids more important than yours?" The narrator continues: "Then why is he skeptical about putting armed security in our schools when his kids are protected by armed guards at their schools?" The ad then shows images featuring President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Senator Dianne Feinstein, while the narrator says: "Mr Obama demands the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes. But he's just another elitist hypocrite when it comes to a fair share of security." It ends with the argument that the "elitist hypocrites" (aka Obama, Biden, Bloomberg and Feinstein) are providing "protection for their kids, but gun-free zones for ours." Media reactions Boston.com reports that the White House has responded to the NRA video, describing it as "repugnant and cowardly." The majority of comments on YouTube are critical of the ad, pointing out that Malia and Sasha, being children of the president, are vulnerable....

If Bolshevik Bob stopped lying he’d be a mime.
The ad was stupid. Look it doesn’t matter what the intent was. As soon as you go after the President’s children or just mention them you are going to get beat up in the press. You might not like the reality, you may disagree with it. The only question I have is, like all advertising, does it help or hurt your brand? Look at the polling on the issues. Why a month after the tradegedy are the numbers still going up for additional regulation? Why are the republicans considered extreme by the majority of Americans? The NRA has come off as extremist uncompromising fools. They defiantly need a new PR firm.
The point is it does not matter if you are right if you lose the battle. As my dad said when I started driving “ be right, but, don’t be dead right.”
You think the press won’t beat up on the NRA if they just get warm and fuzzy eh? lol
Only seems fair, and you know how Democrats are about fairness eh.
Repugnant and cowardly?
Why that’s a perfect description of our Kenyan in chief, now isn’t it?
BTW, Beckle doesn't believe in guards at school ~ he'd rather let the kiddies huddle in a corner as the mad dog killer fires into their crowd and slaughters them like animals.
We should lock people like Beckle up. They are, themselves, mad men.
Only to gun grabbing liberals, which is what that statement says about you. We don't plan on "compromising" our 2nd amendment rights away, get it?
Better look at the polls again. 60 percent ban assault weapons and no I don’t know what an assault weapon is either. 85 percent want background checks.
This seems like a lot more than just the far left.
You miss the point. You may feel better by using his kids and you may think it is fair game but that is not the point at all. How is it playing? Polling shows we are losing ground. Do you think this will help?
Snap out of it.
Don’t believe the constantly rigged polls. Always consider the source. Leftist pollsters know they can get any result they want and they NEVER have to prove any poll they tout.
The elitist left is outraged. The NRA must have squarely hit a nerve. Screw em. Obamas kids don’t mean anything special to me. He attacks my kids 6 ways from sunday, and im supposed to get a case of the fainting vapors over the truth being told about his?
My kids are way more important than his,,,to me.
The ad pisses off the right people, so good job.
That ad was 100% true. And furthermore, it’s tme for this budding dictator to be shown open disrespect. I’m sick of art featuring him as Christ, photos with halos, and of schoolkids taught creepy nazi songs about him.
That whole un-skewed polling thing worked out so well the las time.
So what? You think those numbers get better by the NRA being quiet and agreeing to a few “reasonable” things?
Remember day 1, they attacked the NRA.
When the NRA was completely silent for a week, they were attacking the NRA for not making a comment.
Then when the NRA did comment, it was, “OMG, it’s the one week anniversary!”
Then just last week NRA said something, and once again, “OMG, it’s the one month anniversary!”
You are delusional if you think anything other than full capitulation would make them popular. And when you puss out and back down, people start to think you have no valid points to make. The way to fix bad numbers is to attack with both barrels, not to try to be liked. Thats a fools errand.
It’s you missing the point. When Obama is ruthless, personal, and relentless in the attacks, and we stand there respectfully, people think we have no point to make. People hate a weak response and think the weakness of the response proves the weakness of our position.
A balls out no hold barred attack is what Obama needs. And it’s also the only thing that makes him come unhinged.
Playing rational and nice in hopes of being liked is stupid when our nation does it to the Moslems, and it’s just as stupid when we try it in national politics.
I notice the democrats can attack with wild vicious abandon, and it seems like it’s working pretty good for them. You can tell what tactic hurts them most, because they scream the loudest when we use it.
The ad pisses off the right people, so good job.

AGREED. AGREED! AGREED!!!
Those of us who support the second amendment need to slow the process down and make our arguments - write our legislators, call our legislators and attend events this weekend. Be seen, be heard, be energized. Gun owners represent a voting block of tens of millions of people that mostly don't vote for Democrats. Most liberal politicians may not like us but they sure don't want us aroused.
The fact that leftist journalists have now lied about there being private armed security guards, not just Secret Service agents, at a certain up scale DC private school shows that the NRA has made their point. One of the criticisms of the NRA in the immediate wake of the Sandy Hook massacre was that the had gone to ground. The NRA is now doing what I pay my dues to have them do, present our side's argument - loudly.
I disagree with you, that is fine we will see what happens in the end. I am not advocating copitulation. I am advocating being involved. The yelling from the sidelines seem to be costing us. The fiscal
Cliff being the obvious example.
Bob Beckel seemed to think that because the Sidwell Friends school is supposedly run by Quakers that there couldn’t possibly be guns there. I read that there are 11 armed guards at the school besides the Secret Service. I would like to get the message to Mr. Beckel.
The Obamas use their own kids all the time, in speeches and even campaign ads. So the libs can shove it. They have constantly used their daughters to further their own points and propaganda.
Good rant! Couldn’t have said it better.
Look, people. There is a whole contingent out there who are gonna give gunowners AND the NRA grief. Consider the source/s. You have the leftists who just hate everything and everyone that dares to want to breathe free air. THEY want to control you.
You have slum dwellers who mostly HAVE illegal guns who will insult you unto eternity just because they don’t like you...and might even shoot you for the same reason.
And there are the illegals who ALSO have guns that are illegal, but SOME of them can read so they will insult you as well as kill you.
Any of them will sell you drugs. Many of them think rape is a right. Many of them think they have a right to what YOU own and will rob you to get it...with or without a gun.
NONE of them will be affected by what obama did today or any gun laws that might come down the pike tomorrow. Haters gonna hate. Bad guys gonna be bad.
I will do whatever it takes to see that not a damn one of them messes with my life or my child’s life and if that is in any way misunderstood, try me.
Anyone here think obama’s kids are better than mine? Than YOURS?
Nope. Didn’t think so.
Political polling is nothing more than propaganda. It’s very easy to manipulate polling to get the results a pollster wants. Most Freepers know that quite well.
The Extremist Left Wing is saying that some are more equal than others...
Confucius say man who take gun receive bullet.
Why thats a perfect description of our Kenyan in chief, now isnt it?"Repugnant and cowardly?"
Its also, by no coincidence, a perfect description of the Wolf! crying industry that is wire service journalism, known under the alias mainstream media. Just as To a hammer, everything looks like a nail, to a reporter every sheep looks like a wolf. In fact, calling journalism "the Wolf!" crying industry understates the case, because of journalisms Man Bites Dog, not Dog Bites Man rule, which expresses journalism's preference for the unusual/atypical.
Under that principle, journalism would rather decry a wolf which is apparently actually a sheep than to report the presence of a an actual menace. A phenomenon which is on full display in the persecution of George Zimmerman, as it was in the case of the transparent Duke Lacrosse rape hoax. Even as, today, the evil we are told to hate are the hundreds of millions of insurance policies against violence known as privately owned guns.
And then we wonder why journalists are in the pocket of Democrats - for them both, every tragic aspect of the human condition is a problem to be solved by a Gordian knot cutting solution portending worse misery than the original complaint. Democrats have no principle other than going along and getting along journalists. "Surprise, surprise, journalists promote Democrats and give them positive labels - they started calling Democrats liberal in the 1920s, when liberal was what all traditional Americans understood themselves to be - and what socialists will never be. Before that, socialists were called progressive, because progress of, by, and for the American people is the pride of the success of the American experiment. Journalists also call socialists moderate or centrist, too - and moderation is classical virtue.
Its why liberalism is, as Rush puts it, a gutless choice. Repugnant and cowardly.
You’re the one who needs to check the polls again. There have been two polls showing a majority (51%) oppose an assault weapons ban, with like 44% supporting. This was after Newtown. The AP poll is rigged with the addition of “military-style” in their question.
Further, Gallup in late December 2012 showed a record percentage of Americans (74%) opposed to a ban on handguns.
Once again, doesn’t matter what you or I think. How is it playing with the country? Did it help or hurt the NRA brand? Watch the polling numbers over next two weeks and you will have your answer.
The elitist right isn't terribly happy, either...
BO loves using children as props.
I’d say stay away from his kids. I can see Obama getting on his pedestal and saying how dare they bring his children into this issue and the public will side with him and winning it in the public’s eyes on emotion alone.. I’d say the NRA would do better to focus on historical events with tyrants that uasarmed their citizens and the end results. Just my thoughts.
The ad didn’t focus on his kids. It focused on HIS HYPOCRICY.
“He attacks my kids 6 ways from sunday, and im supposed to get a case of the fainting vapors over the truth being told about his?”
Excellent point. Besides this safety issue, your kids, and your kids’ kids, will be paying (literally) for Hussein’s actions throughout their entire lives.
“The ad pisses off the right people, so good job.”
That’s what I think, too. If a short statement about his kids having more value than other people’s kids will make a few people sit up and take notice, then good!
About time they used my money for something useful...
No. The ad was correct. Hypocrisy is hypocrisy. - If you DARE criticize this President, or any of his henchmen; you are going to get “beat up” by a fawning mainstream media. A media that has become just a useful tool for the Democrat Party. - Meantime, the Tea Party, the NRA, and anyone else who challenges King Obama will dutifully be “targeted” and “ridiculed” by the MSM until they “go away”. . and I’m no NRA person. I shoot like you’d imagine a “Twinkie” shooting; mostly hitting my own foot!
The ad criticized Obama, not his kids.
But we all know how the Nazi’s minds work. Distract from the bigger issue by focusing on the smaller issue and kicking up a big ruckus. That’s just how they roll...
Between five and seven are listed as police officers and under DC law can be armed. The other "security" personnel can't be, at least under DC law.
Of course, Sidwell is split between two campuses with just on in DC and it's unclear the distribution of the 11, plus they're hiring another 'police office' position.
From even the Left's gun-grabber slanted "fact checking" I'd assume, yes, there's at least one armed guard at Sidwell campuses around the clock.
On that note, it is hypocrisy to suggest other school campuses should be gun free zone because they don't have the political elites children and grandchildren. Obama was dismissive of the suggestion and claimed Americans were "skeptical" of the idea.
Since we already know he wants to improve plans for first responders and make administrators aware of ways to handle gunmen, it doesn't make sense not to push to have at least one armed officer per campus if he's serious. That puts at least one armed first responder there immediately.
Is YOUR child more important than Obama’ kids? Are OBAMA’S kids more important than YOUR kids? But Obama’s kids, because of his position are threatened (Krauthammer). I guess other children, like those killed at Sandy Hook were not threatened, just killed. The NRA deftly points out this hypocrisy.
I think the hypocrisy of this regime needs to be pointed out and attacked on every issue at every opportunity, including this one. I believe one of the biggest problems the GOP has had in DC the past 4 years is that they have avoided doing so, for whatever reasons, and have ceded all issues to the ‘rats. I like that somebody has finally done it, maybe it will break the ice.
Yep. If the Kenyan and his minions thought this ad was hurting the NRA image he would not say a thing.
You sound defeatists - the NRA ad hit a big nerve by stating the truth of the elitist hypocrisy of Obama. Being polite doesn’t get our side any brownie points. We need more hard-hitting, truthful ads and more “You Lie!” moments if we really intend to fight. Else, all we’re doing is biding our time before total surender.

Weapon Makers See Danger in Cooperating Over Safety
Gun makers see a danger in working with the government that can be summed up in one name: Smith & Wesson.
BY Gary Fields
Ben Kesling and James R. Hagerty contributed to this article.
The article is only available to subscribers.
In summary the writer speaks to the fact that a few gun makers have cooperated with the government and have been basically bankrupted when gun owners chose to no longer do business with them.
Here are a couple of quotes from the article:
“Led by gun-rights groups, dealers stopped carrying Smith & Wessons products, and buyers melted away. the company was eventually sold for a fraction of what Tomkins initially paid.
“If you think you can buy your peace with your enemy you are sadly mistaken and you will suffer a severe backlash from the consumer, one senior industry executive said.”
