Democrat’s Proposal Will Force Gun Owners to Store Assault Weapons At Government Approved Storage Depots

Posted by Jim Hoft on Saturday, January 19, 2013, 3:40 PM

Massachusetts State Rep. David P. Linsky and Barack Obama

Massachusetts State Representative David Linsky has filed a new bill that would force gun owners to undergo mental health background checks, pay an additional 25% tax on all forms of ammunition, and require firearms categorized as “assault weapons” to be stored outside of their homes at government approved sites.
Natick Patch reported, via Black Listed News:

“This bill is a comprehensive effort to reduce all types of gun violence – murders, intentional shootings, accidental shootings and suicides. There is not one solution to reducing gun violence – we can’t eliminate it – but there are a lot of common-sense steps that we can take to significantly reduce the everyday tragedy of gun violence and deaths,” said Linsky…

…“I have spoken with hundreds of people over the past few weeks in developing this legislation – victims, police officers, criminologists, physicians, and yes – gun owners and sportsmen,” stated Linsky. “There are a lot of good ideas out there. We should all have one goal – reducing gun violence and trying to keep more tragedies from happening.”

Provisions in the bill include:

That way if someone breaks in your house, all you have to do is run down to the local gun storage facility to get your guns.
It makes perfect sense.

smoothsailing ( from the article)~:” Requires all applicants for gun licenses and FID cards to sign a waiver of mental health records for review to be destroyed after decision.”

How about we have mental health evaluations on all potential political candidates ?

I know that Massachusettes has the reputation of being “ TAXACHUSETTES “ , but the state fees , insurance , evaluations , and incidental expense and forms are mind boggleing !
Probably , that is the intent !!

I have this image of indoor gun ranges being like the guarded speakeasy of the prohibition era.

And we will have a modern day version of an Elliot Ness breaking down the doors and confiscation and destruction of hoarded un registered firearms.

This is the mental capacity of our chosen leaders.

Is it any wonder that we are in such a mess?

I'm guessing this is what he's got in mind as a "Government-approved storage depot":

IIRC, this guy Linsky wanted to give safe haven to Gitmo holdees. He got run out of town. Looks like he found a new rock to slither around.
But I insult snakes...

I've posted several replies about what I remember of the "Fairness Doctrine" and how it was used to suppress inalienable rights for some without repealing the First Amendment or harming the rights of others -- similar shenanigans seem to be afoot vis-a-vis the Second Amendment

Here's one example from about ten days ago..

We never agreed to give up our First Amendment rights..

but for decades the "Fairness Doctrine" said that free speech meant that the licensed broadcasting industry (individual radio stations) must offer air time for opposing viewpoints on controversial issues.. or else!

The First Amendment remained but conservative opinion was stifled simply by citizens' (liberal shills') complaints about "fairness" thus threatening the station owners' licenses..

a kinda of "Fairness Doctrine" approach would give the illusion that the Second Amendment was respected. Maybe, complaints from gun-grabber shills that it's not fair how Joe Gunowner does this or that so he must store his firearms at a government location or something . . . .

The point is: We never agreed to give up our First Amendment rights but . . . .

Political abuse of psychiatry in the Soviet Union

" Psychiatry of the Brezhnev period was used as a tool to eliminate political opponents ("dissidents"), people who openly expressed their views that contradict officially declared dogmas.[13]:17 In case the person did not agree with the specific actions of people in leading positions and criticized them by using philosophic dogmas according to the writings by Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Vladimir Lenin, the term "philosophical intoxication" was widely used to diagnose mental disorders.[13]:15 This method was also employed against religious prisoners and most especially against well-educated former atheists who adopted a religion. In such cases their religious faith was determined to be a form of mental illness that needed to be cured.[14] Formerly highly classified extant documents from "Special file" of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union published after the dissolution of the Soviet Union demonstrate that the authorities of the country quite consciously used psychiatry as a tool to suppress dissent.[15] Following the fall of the Soviet Union, it was often reported that some opposition activists and journalists were detained in Russian psychiatric institutions in order to intimidate and isolate them from society."

The left says abortion should be safe and RARE:

What is the mechanism for assuring that we don’t have REPEAT abortion customers...?

I think we need to track it —permanent record, interview with standard questions ahead of time, regular inspections of facilities.

Also customers who are pro-choice should have to get a card, with photo ID, etc.

This will prevent “junk abortions”, back-alley tragedies, etc.

I seem to remember a certain scene from the film “The Pianist” that sounds an awful lot like this...something about requiring Jews to keep anything above 2000 zlotys in a government-approved bank?

I guarantee you that this is what is coming:

- Ever been prescribed an anti-depressant or sleeping aid? You are mentally ill

- Ever admitted to a friend, counselor, or family member you abused alcohol? You are mentally ill.

- Ever had marriage counseling? You are mentally ill.

- Any veterans or police officers who sought treatment for Post Traumatic Stress? You are mentally ill.

- Have you every played "violent" video games? You are mentally ill.

If people don't know this is coming, they are not paying attention.
