Diane Dimond: America’s Immigration Mess — the Next Big Issue?

In the midst of national debates on fiscal cliffs and gun control, could this also be the time to tackle our immigration woes?

Let’s be honest and agree that U.S. immigration policy is a complete disaster. For too many decades, this country has ignored violations of our immigration laws, and now we have a real mess on our hands — an estimated 11 million people who have entered the country illegally and are living and working here under the radar.

Whose fault is it? There is plenty of blame to go around, so I suggest we don’t even go there anymore.

Presidents from both parties have declared they would do something to curb the flood of foreigners illegally entering the country. No meaningful changes occurred. Over the years, both political parties promised to punch into place an effective immigration policy. Yet Congress has still failed to pass laws that would truly get a grip on the problem.

Time to stop the blame game. Time to start figuring out what to do. Time for the one side to stop bellowing, “No amnesty!” and time for the other side to stop declaring, “No one is illegal.”

But let’s face it, these folks and their families are settled here, and a majority of them are otherwise law-abiding and hardworking.(((((((How can you earn an honest living if you are here illegally?Honest and illegal is an oxymoron, isn´t it? How can anyone pay taxes without using fake or stolen documents ?

Stop giving free stuff to illegals.

They will go home.

They argue that they are paying taxes when they purchase something at a store, the argue that even though they are undocumented they still pay payroll taxes, completely ignoring the fact that they cheat the legal citizens out of far more in their bogus tax returns and proliferate use of government programs such as Aid to Dependent Families, Food Stamps, and Emergency Rooms. The bottom line for me, you enter illegal, you never get Citizenship. The only exception I would make is if they go home and then wait their turn at the end of the line to enter the U.S. legally.

The only amnesty they should get is that if they leave the country they can reapply to come in legally without prejudice using the legal system.

They will take their place and chances just like anyone else who applies legally.

Asset forfeiture for foreign nationals who decide to ignore immigration law and squat in the US.

If we can deport politicians who have been enabling them to some 3rd world hellhole then it’s perfect.

Forgot a piece:

And pay a HEFTY fine, as they’ve no doubt taken advantage of any/all welfare, cut in line of LAWFUL immigrants, etc.

the ‘end of the line’ doesn’t make it a deterrent enough IMHO

Lets state the obvious shall we? Mexico is only one of two nations to share a border with the US and per capita there are more Mexicans here illegally than any other group. Hells bells, the Mexican government has a agency devoted to shoving their poor into the country. Ironically Mexico has per capita more billionaires than any Western nation. If the Mexican people would just put half the effort in fixing their country that they do in destroying ours Mexico might someday being a place Mexicans wouldn’t have to run like bats out of Hell to get away from the place.

We've got Indonesians overstaying their school visas, getting elected as president!!!

I would call that a problem.

Anything that does not 100% deport all Illegal Aliens is Illegal Alien Amnesty

Plain and simple. No exceptions

We are already trillions in debt...we cannot afford trillions more by giving lawbreakers and their extended families a free pass with all the welfare, DREAM Act, and other freebies the Amnesty supporters want to give

They are a lot bigger contributing factor to our economic mess than the political machine will admit. It’s simple. Citizens work and pay taxes. Illegals work but don’t pay taxes. Illegals get free benefits that taxpayers pay for. Illegals are also the fastest part of the population. The children of the illegals become the same and the problem grows exponentially. Only an idiot would not get this.

Secure the border, No freebies for those who don’t belong here, go after employers who hire illegals and deport illegals who come up in the normal course of law enforcement.

This is not rocket science.

I thought it was 12 to 20 million when Clinton was President?

They were lying then and they still lie about everything under the sun
