New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo made headlines last week by cramming a gun law through the state legislature that is so restrictive that it limits the amount of ammunition members of law enforcement can carry on the job. Clearly, though, New Yorkers aint seen nothing yet. Cuomos next act, addressed in a news conference on Saturday pushing through the 6-year-old Reproductive Health Care bill if accomplished, will represent the biggest assault on the liberties of residents conceivably in the Empire States 236-year history.
The National Catholic Register (h/t Weasel Zippers) notes that the bill has become a facet of the governors own 10-point womens equality agenda, which includes a raise in the minimum wage, tougher anti-housing discrimination laws and measures against domestic violence and sex-trafficking.
The most stunning part of the legislation, however, is its removal of criminal penalties for abortions after 24 weeks by adding a broad health exception. Currently, late-term abortions are allowable when carrying the fetus to term poses a danger to the mothers life.
The article quotes Chris Slattery, director of the pro-life Expectant Mother Care (EMC) pregnancy centers in New York City, who says, the new law will make the city the late-term abortion capital of the world...

Highway to hell
I expect Cuomo will push a bill for ending a life 24 weeks after birth one of these days.
There is no medical reason to perform such an abortion. If the mother’s health is in danger, a C-section can be performed with the goal of saving both lives.
How anyone can claim to be for women’s rights and yet support the exploitation of women for gross profit makes no sense.
Apparently, murder is perfectly acceptable in the people’s republic of new york as long as you don’t do it with an 11 round magazine.
Ban guns that cha ho;d more than 7 rounds but allow the murder of babies viable outside the womb. Screwtape is writing a letter home about this.
Trash the Second Amendment and then go after that pesky, Declaration of Independence “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” thing. Little Andy isn’t much into the unalienable rights of the American people, is he? Why do we need rights when we’ve got welfare, right Andy?
But only the lives of the innocent not the convicted and guilty.
The government kills.
the term “hypocrite” is tossed around so much when speaking of today’s libtard dictators.
not unfairly, just so appropriately.
Pure evil.
He’s saving the children. If they are slaughtered in the womb the evil “assault weapons” can never harm them.
Call me judgmental, but Cuomo’s despicable. I’ll pray for him.

It's just a "mass of cells" at 24-weeks.
Honest.

It's just a "mass of cells" at 24-weeks.
Honest.
These evil ghouls ...I swear they’d kill us ALL if they had the chance ....
Freaking death mongers.
Pray for an end to abortion.
“abortions after 24 weeks”
Wow, Cuomo must have been a big fan of Tiller.
If Cuomo is Catholic why isn’t he excommunicated by now?
I agree. I've heard that some of the environmentalists have said that Mother Gaia can only really support 2 billion of us, and you know how they just hate it when humanity stands in the way of their "progress". After all, Utopia is only possible if you can eliminate human nature, which pretty much means eliminating humans.
Actually they usually go out to a year post birth.

Thanks to advances in medical science, a baby born at 24 weeks has a higher chance of survival than ever before. The Life of a Baby Born at 24 Weeks
Twenty-four weeks puts your baby close to the end of your second trimester. By now, all your baby's organs are intact, and, basically, this time is being used for critical stages in development. Organs such as the brain are growing, the lungs are still developing, and there are many vital processes taking place regarding the maturity of your infant's body. Hence, when a baby is born at 24 weeks gestation, it is a huge cause for alarm. Most babies at this point barely weigh one and a half pounds. In this case, when a mother goes into preterm labor at this point in the second trimester, if the infant survives the birthing process (very often a cesarean is required at this gestational stage), he or she will be shipped off to the neonatal unit immediately. A baby born at 24 weeks will require a respirator immediately, as the lungs are not yet equipped to handle breathing outside the womb.
You can also expect surgeries due to insufficiently developed organs causing problems in your baby's body. Your infant will likely spend months under neonatal supervision, and it is possible that certain long-term health problems will arise due to this preterm labor. However, these health issues are not necessarily a given. Some babies born prematurely survive the process after a long NICU stay and emerge healthy overall, but it is normal to expect that the infant to toddler years may involve more concern and care.
yeah, but he gives you stuff
Not only is he living with a woman — not his wife — he’s openly pushing abortion. Does he still call himself Catholic? Cardinal Dolan needs to call him in for a little talk. And we thought the last two governors who openly used hhookers were bad! Sheesh!
Unbelievable.
So much for “if it saves the life of one child”, eh, leftists?
You forgot that he shoved same-sex marriage down our throats. And yes, he calls himself a catholic. Dolan needs to grow a pair. He was married to a Kennedy so he learned how to manipulate the church to get away with what he wants.
Then why don’t they start by all the Gaia worshipers committing suicide—just to save the planet, of course.
Today’s Gospel was about the Wedding at Cana and Jesus’ first miracle. We don’t know the names of the happy couple, but I’ll bet they weren’t Joe and John!
I bet they never enforce that law anyway
The democrats are truly drunk on their power and why shouldn’t they be? There is no one stopping them. No one in any position will say a word about any of it.
this guy is plain evil.
... in the fast lane, with no brakes.
This was what Mitt Romney ran on, and the libertarian position is much worse, than this.
CBS News interview, August 27, 2012:
PELLEY: Well, the platform as written at this convention for the Republicans does not allow for exceptions on abortion with regard to the health of the mother or rape or incest. Is that where you are?
ROMNEY: No. My position has been clear throughout this campaign. Im in favor of abortion being legal in the case of rape and incest, and the health and life of the mother.
One more reason not to vote for Mitt Romney .... oh, wait...
There is nothing to wait for, the republicans just ran on this abortion position 10 weeks ago, and the GOP not only nominated this pro-abortion position, but it is embracing and adopting libertarian leftist views on these issues, and is still at war against pro-life conservatives.
Post 33 will be the most relevant post on this thread.
Ban guns that cha ho;d more than 7 rounds but allow the murder of babies viable outside the womb. Screwtape is writing a letter home about this.
Yes, and I’m sure Wormwood is listening.
Of course this whole exercise is futile. The die is cast and a majority of our fellow Citizens (and a whole bunch of Illegals) think Obama is the future of America.
All this crap happening and Obama has a 50% Approval Rating? We are doomed. Stupid has won the day.
I never saw Romney retracting that very deliberate statement as he was rejecting the republican pro-life party platform, when he was asked straight out if he supported it, he said no, and then stated his personal pro-abortion position that you just read, but I did learn a couple of days ago that he was running pro-choice TV ads in Ohio.
The Ship has sailed.
The Fat Lady has sung.
It's water under the Bridge.
It's all over but the crying.
The Rats will easily get the House back in 2014 and that will be that. The Nation is splintered beyond repair. Not sure if we'll end up in a shooting War, but there will be Martyrs defending pockets of resistance at some point, of that I have no doubt.
As soon as possible, which will be a while due to current Family commitments, I will end up moving to whatever Red State still exists and live out the rest of my years thinking back on times past.
Democrats, Liberals, Progressives or whatever you call them have won the Battle and will win the War once Obama and his Minions takeover the whole Enchilada in 2014, especially since they will have the SCOTUS in their control for generations to come.
Good luck with the Romney blame game. He wasn't Reagan, but he isn't an enemy of Free People like Obama is.
You mean that it is over, that the GOP has renounced Mitt Romney and future pro-choice candidates, and admitted that they are destroying the party, and that they have embraced the tea party and Governor Palin and the social conservative base, and that the election of 10 weeks ago is something that has not chance at all of being repeated in any near future?
This is the level of our resistance? You think the Romney wing has given up?
Oh well... that whole pro-choice Romney selection for the GOP nominee thing was so, 10 weeks ago.
Renounced? Did they tar and feather him too?
Let me clue you in my Friend.
Nobody could have beaten Obama. We are outnumbered and unlike the good old days of Jimmy Carter, the “takers” aren’t suffering, they are living the life of Riley.
Reagan couldn’t have beaten Obama. The Demographics, the Illegal Alien and Community Organizing Voter Fraud, the Media and the successful use of Social Networking going after the Youth Vote by the Left have sealed our fate.
As far as the future of the Republican Party goes, I have no idea where it will end up. I am all for a Conservative Resurgence, but the reality of the day will require a massive Societal upheaval to steer the Nation to the Right.
I’m not going to debate your Romney fixation. To use the last Obama slogan, FORWARD, it’s the only course because Romney, just as McCain in 2008, is just another Speed Bump on the road to Tyranny.
Now we are faced with a strong possibility that something’s got to give. The string on the Bow is stretched to its limit and the fingers are trembling, IMHO of course.
2012 was an easy win for the republicans, but you guys managed to choose a radical, pro-abortion liberal, a failed politician who only won a single election in 20 years, who did so poorly in that job that he was forced to end his plan for reelection and who left office with a damaged state party, lost the seat to the democrats, and finished with a 34% approval rating.
Here you are now, after snatching defeat from the jaws of victory against Jimmy Carter II, acting like the injured party, because someone is pointing out that the republican presidential candidate ran on the same outrageous pro-abortion plan that this thread is about.
Really? You guys were running PRO-CHOICE ADS IN OHIO, and now you want to claim that even Ronald Reagan couldn’t have won this election against Carter’s second term?
You guys are just flat out nuts.
There’s also a provision to allow abortions to be performed by people other than doctors.
“Highway to hell”
Well if the Burgermeister wants to go there, by all means stand clear of him.
So, take away guns to protect children.
But kill any babies you don’t want.
Take guns...
Kill babies...
Take guns...
Kill babies...
Take guns...
Kill babies...
What is wrong with me that I don’t get it?
The butcher wants to kill the innocent unborn, but at the same time, wants to take away the people’s right to defend themselves against agressors. Typical liberal.
Gee Ansel, who are these “you guys” you bring into the Conversation?
I don’t know of ONE FReeper that voted for Romney in the Primary, but I sure know of many that didn’t Vote for Romney in the General against Lord Obama.
You know, the “there isn’t a dimes worth of difference between the two” crowd. It would be laughable if it didn’t involve the end of the Republic.
Like many before the Election, I thought there was a good chance that we would beat Obama. At the very least, I thought we would get the Senate back.
Didn’t happen and here we are. The King of Hopey Dopey Changey Forward is being Emaculated today, so your Romney sucks keystrokes are just a waste of time.
BTW - If your new game is to blame people here who Voted for their own Candidates in the Primaries and faced the reality of their preferences not getting the nomination, good try.
There are no YOU GUYS Posting here, so go over to Koz or DU to gloat abut the Republicans losing. It is really getting stale.
Then you don't read FR, and haven't noticed the large numbers of people promotion Romney for the last SEVEN years here, look at your posts on this thread to see how loyal his followers are, (some of you).
Evidently you missed all the banned accounts, and JR's having to call a truce when Romney became the nominee, in other words, you are just lying about not knowing of any freeper support for Romney in the years of primaries.
Here you are right now, still fighting tooth and nail for Romney and trying to rewrite his predictable loss, even using Reagan to protect Romney's reputation and influence in the GOP.
Even after this disaster of an election, you STILL don't want anything negative about the candidate to get out, in this case his pro-abortion views which match the topic of this thread.

Seriously, what the heck are you talking about? I’m lying?
Why would I lie? I don’t know of any FReepers that Voted for Romney in the Primaries, if you do, list them for us.
You had better get a grip and quit calling people LIARS. I Voted for Newt in the Primary and I Voted for the Party Nominee, which happened to be Romney, in the General. In other words, I followed the Levin Doctrine and wonder of wonders, JimRob did the same.
As far as your second paragraph goes, I am thinking that you have a serious imagination issue or you are projecting your paranoia on to me. I am not fighting “tooth and nail” to protect anyone.
BTW -If you think Romney still has influence over the Party after losing to Obozo, you are way out there in Bizarro Land. Republicans eat their own, or haven’t you noticed?
My entire point to you is that the Election is over, move on and stop this incessant nagging (and attacking other FReepers) about what might have been. Worry about the next four years, not what happened last November.
And do not ever call me a LIAR again, unless you have some ironclad proof of my supposed deception, which you do not. Your “in other words” crap is just something you include to cover your A$$ and everyone reading your Post knows it.
You are pushing the envelope my FRiend. We are done.
So you think that all those banned romneybot freepers and the romneybot freepers that the truce was called about, and who were allowed back onto FR after Romney won the nomination, did not vote for their candidate in the primary that they were fighting to get us to vote for Romney in, the very reason that many of them were banned?
Yeah, I think you are lying about thinking that.
What argument did you think that the pro-Romney and the anti-Romney freepers were having for 7 years, and through two presidential primaries?
