Today we celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Isn’t it odd, with all of the great quotes from him, that we rarely hear many of them referenced.

The web site you provided said no such thing. It indicated that his father switched parties to support Kennedy, which may have been as a favor to the Kennedy's to win Dr. King's release from prison. But the web site clearly indicates Dr. King's ties to the Republican party since the Democrats were so adamantly opposed to his activism.
You beat me to it. That was sloppy reading on my part. You’re correct that it was MLK Sr. who changed parties, not MLK Jr. Mea culpa.
However, the facts are that King, whether Republican or Democrat, surrounded himself with Communists and was influenced by Marxist theory. His Christianity was a Gandhi-influenced social gospel. He was an adulterer. And though he preached non-violence, he left violence in his wake wherever he went.
I just don’t understand why conservatives have such a deep impulse to lionize the heroes of the left.
I know we are not supposed to do this but.....
