NSSF (National Shooting Sports Foundation) Statement on the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show
National Shooting Sports Foundation ^ | January 24, 2013

Posted on 01/24/2013 9:06:59 AM PST by Second Amendment First

We have just learned that Reed Exhibitions has decided to postpone the 2013 Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show.

In the days following Reed Exhibitions’ announcement that modern sporting rifles would be prohibited from the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, the leadership of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has been in intense, frank discussions with Reed Exhibitions management in an effort to reverse this unacceptable decision. These discussions reached an impasse.

NSSF is in no way affiliated with, nor does it participate in or exhibit at this show in any way. Reed Exhibitions does, however, manage the NSSF-owned SHOT Show (though Reed manages the SHOT Show, all SHOT Show decisions, policies and actions are made at NSSF’s direction).

Because of Reed’s recent actions, NSSF is considering all options regarding the management of future SHOT Shows.

I wonder if Reed manages the Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA) quarterly shows? I doubt it, there are lots of MSRs on display there, from 5.56mm personal weapons all the way up to 8” crew-fired weapons.

Maybe NSSF ought to look to AUSA for a management company for the SHOT and other shows.

Win, win, win.
This means the vendors will get refunds, the attendees who bought tickets will get refunds, and the right to bear arms has not been infringed.

It is hard to understand a company that makes a bad decision, it costs them money, and they hard headedly decide to continue in that bad policy.

All they had to do was rescind their former ruling.

You have to wonder who was putting pressure onthem, and then we find that Soros had his nose in this as well as Progressive insurance .

Reed’s announcement is on this website:
http://www.easternsportshow.com/

I believe they are not speaking their minds. The reasons they give for postponing are obvious bull.

I think the ban on Reed must continue until they are back in England, fighting for the gun rights of their own citizens. Then, and only then should they be welcome back in the Land of the Free.

Not if they're leftists it isn't hard to understand. That's what leftists always do -- when a leftist policy inevitably fails they just figure they didn't ram it in hard enough and a second time with more gusto SURELY will work as their beliefs predict. They (almost) always double down.

From their announcement:

It is unfortunate that in the current emotionally charged atmosphere this celebratory event has become overshadowed by a decision that directly affected a small percentage of more than 1,000 exhibits showcasing products and services for those interested in hunting and fishing.

They still don’t understand that the second amendment applies to all our citizens and is not just those who hunt.

“This means the vendors will get refunds, the attendees who bought tickets will get refunds, and the right to bear arms has not been infringed.”

Reed will also lose all the money they paid out for the venue. This is a big financial loss.

They may also get sued by the vendors who signed up. A class action suit.

Whoever made the decision to ban black rifles should be canned immediately.

“Whoever made the decision to ban black rifles should be canned immediately.”

But at the same time, those groups who have been utilizing Reed to manage their shows of any kind should send the packing! It looks as though they bought out Cahners to get into the US market. We don’t need a bunch of British “wankers” as the last poster said managing anything here whether it’s gun-related or not!

Reed Exhibitions returns Norwalk, Connecticut (well, surprise, surprise...but see further below: "British," "Dutch,"...)

But from:
http://www.easternsportshow.com/

"Reed Exhibitions, a divison of Reed Elsevier Inc."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reed_Elsevier
[Yeah, I know, Wikipedia.]

"Reed Elsevier is a publisher and information provider operating in the science, medical, legal, risk and business sectors. It is listed on several of the world's major stock exchanges."
[...]
"The company came into being in Autumn 1992 as the result of a merger between Reed International, a British trade book and magazine publisher, and the Dutch science publisher Elsevier."
[...]
"The exhibitions division is Reed Exhibitions."
[...]
"Members of the medical and scientific communities, which purchase and use many journals published by Reed Elsevier, agitated for the company to cut its links to the arms trade...On 1 June 2007, Reed Elsevier announced that they would be exiting the Defence Exhibition business during the second half of 2007."

Interesting. Now NSSF changes its stance? From Jan 19th -

http://www.ammoland.com/2013/01/reed-exhibitions-eastern-sports-outdoor-show-prohibits-ar15-style-rifles/#axzz2IpZopxAl

“We urge industry exhibitors and attendees to participate in the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show as planned and encourage attendees to visit the Reed Exhibitions booth at the show to share their concerns and to then enjoy the show.”

NSSF was fully ready to toss the percentage of the 2nd under the bus -

This reads like a defense of Jim Crow.

Once oughta be enough. Fair warning writ LARGE-——Send Reed back whereever they came from. Maybe they were better at running rum back from the colonies?. Their name will certainly be on my shop wall——never to be supported/trusted/considered again. The snivelers understand going broke as well as anybody so let ‘em learn the hard way.

This maybe the Harry Reid-NRA-NSSF-SHOT-Reed connection some of us have been thinking about.

The NRA backs Harry Reid as it keeps SHOT in Vegas.

You can contact NSSF here:

http://nssf.org/industry/contactNSSF.cfm

To let them know you would support them terminating Reed for next year's SHOT SHOW.

SHOT SHOW is the biggest industry firearms event of the year in the US--more than 60,000 attend. So it would be a big hit to Reed if they lost the show.
