That's fine.

But I am reminded of the words of General Patton:
"No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."

A rifle confiscated anywhere in this country is the same as a rifle confiscated from my own home.

Here's a further clarification.

A person jailed and charged with a crime for failing to register a rifle is the same as confiscating that rifle.

So, does that mean that, in the meantime, the robots that are “Just following orders sir/ma’am”, should just be allowed to carry out their orders w/o interference?

Of course you didn’t mean that, right?

The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them.

I knew I couldn't have thought of that on my own. It's probably been 10 years since I read the book, but I can see how it's influenced my every day thinking.

I'm saying that it is inefficient to expend your energy wrestling pigs if in fact the problem is that your neighbor is the one releasing them to tear up your garden. You go directly for the guy releasing the pigs - or flying monkeys - or whatever - and put and end to it.

If you register your guns, they will be coming around to take them the day after. On the day that the balloon goes up I'm saying don't even be there when they come to take them and kill you. Outflank them, skip the fat, and go right for the meat.

Well, what your saying about not being there, and going after the one who sent them may be neat tricks, if you can pull them off. Some problems, though:

1) The forces that will carry this out will be the aggressors, at least in the beginning, meaning they will chose the time and place, and they aren’t going to let their targets know if, when and where they’re coming.

2) Another problem, where do you and yours go? To do so at a moments notice isn’t easy for most people, even if they have at least a general idea of and what is now going on and do the best they can to get ready.

3) Related to 1), the pigs you speak of show up. Fight? Surrender? Flee, if possible? A decision needs to be made how to deal with it. Even if it’s just you, you’re not going to be allowed to flee. If you have anyone in your home that is elderly or disabled, unless you’re willing to leave them behind to the tender mercies of the pigs in your quest to get the one who sent them, then fight or give up are the only choices.

4) The one who sent them. Your neighbor likely won’t be heavily armed/armored with companions equipped the same way. Those we deal with may well be. Also, Mr. Neighbor is probably “it”, not a low-ranking member of an organization, which is what we will be facing. The leader of the on site pigs is one of the sent, not the sender. So, assuming you can avoid dealing w/the sent, there is a chain of command of senders. Without going into detail, the higher up you try to go, the harder your potential target will be to get to. (To any Fed/State/Local leo’s reading this, is NOT intended to threaten, advocate, or incite ANYTHING, ok?)

Sure there are always problems, but none so insurmountable as just sitting in a cabin on a mountain and waiting for the drone to strike you, because even if you have a cleared 1000 yard perimeter, they'll just say, aw the heck with it and call down the thunder from 20,000 feet.

If you're navigating around, say, the financial district of a city, they're less likely to blow you up.

You can't outrun helicopters in the woods, especially once the sun goes down and you're lit up like a christmas tree.

They will offer big rewards for anonymous leads. They will take your house, car, and savings if you are caught with an illegal gun.

Then, the person following the "anonymous" lead, the one who confiscates your house, car, and savings, will turn up dead two weeks later: killed while you were home watching American Idol on your parents sofa......

Did you read all the post? It’s rather long, I’ll admit, but still.

Cabin in the woods, etc. Like most people, I don’t have one of those. Strawman.

It seems that your idea, though it has merit, also has some potential problems that should be at least considered before deciding on a course of action for if and when the time comes.

Well, there are some things that need tended to, so off I go. Later.

concerning number 4...

While things may dissolve in bloody civil war in certain areas, with neighborhood going after oath-breakers and their families, etc. It’s best to avoid atrocity, targeting innocents, or a war of attrition. The ruling class elites could care less how many Obots perish for tyranny.

Planners, enablers, intellectuals, media elites on the other hand value their mortality. Many also value their public life. Most are not willing to make a complete life change after so many years of “service” and go into hiding. No way. So they are quite available for discussion, feedback. Terrify them. Destroy their will to pursue their tyrannical ends with fear. A reality adjustment to give them pause. How intense that gets is up to them.
