Senator Boxer wants to federally regulate carry permits

When defending draconian gun laws in DC, Illinois, and New York, Democrats are quick to point out that states should be free to adapt their laws to their specific needs despite any pesky constitutional amendments or civil rights.

President Obama himself made this argument yesterday when he said that “the reality of guns in urban areas [is] very different from the reality of guns in rural areas.”

But apparently they only want states to be able to set their own laws when those laws coincide with their own anti-civil-rights agenda.

California Senator Barbara Boxer has introduced Senate Bill S147 to “establish minimum standards for States that allow the carrying of concealed firearms.” While the complete text of the bill is not yet available, it is reported that the bill would require states with liberalized gun laws to adopt a standard like those in may-issue states.

Amazingly enough, Senator Boxer herself once spoke out strongly in favor of letting states set their own standards as well. As pointed out by St Louis Gun Rights Examiner Kurt Hoffman, in a 2009 Senate hearing, Senator Boxer had this to say about a gun bill protecting gun owner rights:

“This debate is not about the right to own a gun. That has been settled by the Supreme Court in the Heller case. It is about allowing States to determine their own laws. And I totally get why some more rural States with fewer people would have different laws on conceal and carry than a State of 38 million people, my home State of California. Leave us alone. Leave us alone. You want to have conceal and carry with very few requirements, fine.”

Filled with a bitter irony the elitist attack on gun owners continues …

ALL DemocRAT women in Congress are dogs who are not only butt-ugly but possess a one track brain: socialist/communist.

Boxer heads the list.

There are several Republicrat women who are complicit in the Congressional treachery.

The 2nd Amendment is not a "civil right."

It is a natural, God-given right.

Yeah, becuase since Obama’s election and especially since the GOP took over 19 legislative chambers in 2010, state after state has passed concealed carry laws. Boxer doesn’t like that. But she doesn’t mind the guys with the guns under their suit jackets who protect federal officials.

Protection for me but not for thee.

Yes. The hypocrisy is only overshadowed by the elitist snobbery. :(

December 15, 1791. Already covered:
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

The Constitution means nothing to these people. It's quite obvious they're pushing for a fight. A real bloody one. Careful what you wish for...

Obama wants all guns banned.

He is playing a game by saying urban gun problems and suburban gun problems are different.

Trying to sell himself as a moderate. he is a drooling ,foaming at the mouth gun grabber.

Do not be fooled by his BS.

It is astonishing how willing they have been to come full-tilt this time. Even so-called moderate Democrats have exposed themselves as anti-gun.

I’ve always held that the concealed carry permit was a defacto registration of gun owners. Now it looks like the government is looking at it that way also.

They need to turn this around on her. They need to turn it into a national conceal carry law that allows anyone who has a conceal carry permit can carry their firearm anywhere in the US. That Includes Illinois and any city regardless of any local ordinance or ban.

You can get a CCW permit without owning a gun. I think that the background check is more in line with registration because you have to buy a gun for them to do one.

CCW can cover knives as well as other non-firearm weapons.

Sometime in the future, what’s going to make my day is the tremendously happy news Barbara Boxer has assumed room temperature. That is one reprehensible b!tch.

Dear Boxer-wench,

As another dim-bulb-crat female who boinked a rich man so that she could purchase a senatorship, I’d like you to have two full terms: one in office, and the second in jail.

Shove it up your wide smelly Obama.

Oh, and please fund a study to find out why liberal women are so very stupid.

There are a million Florida residents, half a million
Texans and a third of a million Tennesseans who have permits. An increasing percent of permitees are women. Just as surely as there was a “lady parts” vote in the last election, there will be a “lady gun” vote in future elections. And Florida is a key state for presidential races.
