Bipartisan? Aiieeee! (Bipartisan effort to expand background checks that has to be stopped!)

Why does a shiver go down my spine every time I hear “A bipartisan group in Congress…” (and especially in the Senate)? Has a Senate bipartisan group ever done anything that abides by conservative principles, let alone doesn’t actively offend them?

I can’t think of any.

If anything we need to ease restrictions and keep dangerous people locked up. Any man allowed to walk the street freely should be free to own a gun.

The constitution demands it.

Democrats, what part of "shall not be infringed" do you have trouble understanding?

I'm also ready for a positive although not bipartisan discussion on gun control:

Sight picture, breath control, and trigger control are all critical for proper gun control in a paper target environment. Any suggestions on other factors besides target identification to consider in a home invasion situation?

This isn’t what this is about.

Face facts, it’s really difficult for politicians to deal with cleaning up crime and institutionalizing the nuts in our society.. (most have a ‘D’ after their name, but I digress)

So instead of doing the difficult work that will actually solve the problem, the oppressives would rather go after the innocent and punish them for the crimes of others.

Yep. Let's have a nice long chat with the demonicRats about which misguided, misbegotten gun control laws we repeal first.

Any such repeal is, of course, a 'good first step', done 'for the children', and 'if it saves even one life, it's worth it'.

Actually it is. Nobody gets to pick and choose which parts of the constitution we should follow. Its an all or nothing deal.

They have trouble with seeing the ‘not’ part of that admonition.

Just like they are unable to understand these two important parts of the bill of rights:

9th Amendment

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

10th Amendment

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

“The Tenth Amendment is the foundation of the Constitution,” -Thomas Jefferson.

But really, where do these jokers get their ideas on how expansive their powers are?

Maybe we’re misunderstanding each other.

I would definitely agree with you – the ever increasing restrictions on our liberty need to be reversed.

The anaconda like grip the oppressive have on our freedom has to be taken away instead of squeezed each and every time there is a crisis the left can use to choke the life out of our liberties.

It’s really a question of trust – the government doesn’t really trust us with freedom, but that’s OKAY with them because it yields them more power the more they distrust the people.

The people don’t trust the government – but that’s not okay – with the government, go figure.

I wish I could find it again but about a year ago I came across some local prison records from the late 1800s. Among items returned to released inmates were guns and knives.

I did notice that few inmates convicted of murder were released and those that were had served 20 or 30 years.

Isn’t that the one based on a law of a certain country in Europe that circa 1930 –1945 was run by a certain ‘Socialist Workers Party’?

I would go for that, along with the earlier acts in the 1930’s – and for those who would object to this, a question: Don’t you trust the people?

What is it about their freedom you don’t like?

Yes ... the "Gun Control Act" passed in 1968 was heavily based on the weapons law which the National Socialist German Workers' Party imposed upon the Third Reich.

And I'm flexible ... we can repeal NFA '34 first, if you prefer. ;'}

I'm much more reasonable about this than Dianne Feinstein. I don't want to compel anybody to own a gun ... I'm all for freedom of choice here. She, OTOH, wants to forcibly and compulsorily disarm everybody.

In Michigan this crap started about 1927 when a black Doctor (Ossian Sweet) killed a white man who was part of a mob trying to force Sweet out of a “white” Detroit neighborhood.

Sweet was acquitted and it was less that two weeks before the first legislation showed up in Lansing calling for gun registration and approval boards which basically denied all blacks access to guns. From there it didn’t take long for the progs to start excluding others from owning weapons.

Clayton Cramer (IIRC) did a bunch of research in the ‘90s showing that essentially all gun-control legislation had its roots in anti-black bigotry and anti-immigrant (Irish, Italian etc.) bigotry.

Yes, indeed: One of the crown jewels of modern demonicRat domestic policy is at root racist and bigoted. The demonicRat Party truly is the party of hate.
