“When they come for my gun, they will have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands,” is a common refrain I often hear from the Neo-Cons when there is a threat, credible or otherwise, that the US government is going to take their firearms.

And, when I hear this crazy talk, I agree with them openly. “You are right. They will pry your gun from your cold dead hands,” which I often follow with the question, “And where will that leave you except face down in a pool of your own blood [in] the middle of the street, just another dead fool resisting the State?”

This is not a question they are comfortable with, if only because the intent of their saber-rattling was to imply they would fight to keep their weapons, and win.

Nice fantasy. It’s not happening.

If the federal government decides to disarm the public, and when the increasingly-militarized rolls down your street after a not-so-subtle request that you kindly turn over your firearms and ammunition “for the common good,” it will be nothing less than suicide by cop to do anything other than what you are told.

The militarization of US police forces is ongoing and escalating. Many cities and towns now own tanks, armed personnel carriers, even attack helicopters, and almost all are outfitted with military weapons not available to the general public.

And, it is not just your hometown cops who are getting new boy-toys. The military itself is buying up weaponry not just for use in the current or next scheduled war, but to deal with the likes of you, ..

I think the mistake the author makes is that the “resisting” will come when they are marching down the street with in full body armor and swat vehicles. I agree that moment resisting is probably suicide, the best thing to do at the moment is...disappear (along with your guns). Look at Iraq and Afghanistan for what the “resistance” will look like, the insurgents for the most part didn't conduct full scale attacks on well armored platoons. They struck when a few soldiers were driving back to base in a poorly armored Humvee. The resistance will take the same form here, people will figure out were any law enforcement that participates in these raids live and will “strike” when they are lying in bed thinking they are perfectly safe in their disarmed police state. Or perhaps when a bunch of them are off duty, yucking it up at a local bar. You get the idea. It's called asymmetrical warfare, it's nasty and not particularly honorable but against a much better armed opponent sometimes its the only choice.

Hmmm....did you mean “tyrants”, or have you coined a new word which seems to mean “those who enable tyrants, work for them, and see their own self-interest in so doing”.

“Tyrannists”.... I like that. And it’s true they will not be safe, unless the gubmint turns military installations into secure green zones for them.

MANY people will turn them in because the left has successfully feminized our culture. That’s why they attacked the culture! To make most of us into wussies that are scared to do anything ‘politically incorrect’. Its stunning how effective and successful cultural marxism has been. The founders in the Frankfurt school would be proud.

Now the good news is that we have a lot of men that have not been altered by the culture that will fight this. I think we still have enough numbers to win that fight.

The Revolution was fought by only about 25 or 30% of the population at the time. Back then many people sympathized with the brits because a lot of people had family and business connections in England. And a lot of others were fence sitters waiting to see who was going to win so they could get back to normal life. I think the numbers are about the same today..

There was another Free’per poster yesterday that stated - it won’t be the govt coming in physically to destroy our values - the will sow conceit among neighbors using one against the other... and I thought to myself - just like the Communist did in Russia - just like the Nazis youth did to their parents - they first cause a great divide throughout society - and allow society to rid itself of guns - those that would stand up against govt. oppression - and when the numbers are low enough - the tyrant (who ever that may be at the time) will finalize the plans.

My opinion on this:
The only counter to this is to establish relationships with your neighbors - find out who supports the liberals and who supports conservative/traditional capitalism — educate your children now - either before they o to the public school system or as they are in it - to counter the liberal agenda being taught there — it must be a concentrated effort on all of us not to allow this division to carry on — it must be a daily effort — because we all know - 0bama and his ilk have several grass root and local level organizations do the same thing daily - it’s a longevity operation that we must be willing to make - until we can clean this rift raft out of public service and elected office...and dime them out for what they are!

And yes - we must maintain our firearms - teach our youth the respect for such weapons - and illustrate why we must stay armed — pointing at the evening news is a great place to start the lesson — the “Tanked for 0bama” journalism is a learning example of how news stories can be used to tell a lie over and over — until everyone believes it...(which is why I have a Roku box and no cable!)

Yes it might start with a few Ruby Ridges and Wacos but Yamamoto’s famous words come to mind. “I fear we have awakened a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve.” They would do well to heed those words.

I might be dead, but I guaranty I will have taken a couple of them with me.

There are more of us than there are of them. Even if you just take us hard-liners, we outnumber them 10:1. All of us gun owners? 100:1.

They will run out of enforcers well before we run out of resisting gun owners.

And this scenario only supposes that they come for us at home. If they start rounding up gun owners, most of us will be in the wind within a half hour of the word going out. Things will get "exciting" after that...

There are about 270 million guns in the hands of American civilians. That’s close to one per person. Even if 20% fought while the other 80 sat back and did nothing that’s about 62.6 million very angry people that the States and Feds would have to deal with.
