Better be careful. There appears to be more to this story than what is posted.

Wait till they pass the “Barney Fife Law” and we are limited to one bullet that may not be in the gun, and must be registered with the local Sheriff.

““Do you really think we want those laws observed?” Said Dr. Ferris. We want them broken. You better get it straight that it’s not a bunch of boy scouts you’re up against - then you’ll know this is not the age for beautiful gestures. We’re after power and we mean it. You fellows were pikers, but we know the real trick and you’d better get wise to it. There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted and you create a nation of law-breakers - and then you cash in on guilt. Now, that’s the system Mr. Reardon, that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.”

we need to start handing out life sentences to hippies that get caught with weed in red states. Get caught with a joint, spend the rest of your life in prison. Works for me.

Just try to understand all the details of Federal .922r
Let alone all the individual State and local regs.
It is so complex.

Those magazines he possessed may have been US Army property.

Haddad was apparently in violation of the 1994 law that limited mags to 10 rounds, yet the same state that just limited mags to 7 rounds now, has been soothing peoples brows by saying so long as there are no more than 7 bullets in the mag, you are legal.

These mags where EMPTY.

What is the law??!!

And I don’t own a single mag that has a manufacture date stamped on it.

And they may have been surplus.
If he stole them from the military that is another kettle of fish.

Before jumping to conclusions, don't you believe it best to get all the facts?

Oh. So how serious would that be? Would that be like taking a stapler or do they regard it as super-serious?

I don’t know why anyone would risk a career over $50 worth of stuff, but stranger things have happened.

If it was Gov property, the worst he should get is a dishonorable discharge.

35 years in jail? Really?

Oh. So how serious would that be?

You'll have to check with the US Army and the State of New York.

I believe Haddad had been discharged in 2010.
