Gun control? Surprise! Europeans, like Americans, resist any gun ban

… Obama is trying to project the idea that “legitimate” gun-owners are sportsmen and the elite. Everyone else must be a white Christian male gun-nut who needs federal control. …

The sort of gun controls President Obama wants to bring into force across America are already in force in New York State. Which is why in New York the black market in guns is thriving. … New York City’s situation with guns is mirrored in Europe. (J.D.) Tuccille quotes from the Small Arms Survey at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva: “Contrary to widely-accepted national myths, public gun ownership is commonplace in most European states. Regulations tightly control gun ownership in only a few European countries such as the Netherlands, Poland and the United Kingdom. In much of the rest of the continent, public officials readily admit that unlicensed owners and unregistered guns greatly outnumber legal ones.”

Here in Belgium where I live, according the Swiss research, in 2003 there were 458,000 legal firearms, and roughly two million illegal guns. …

Free people want guns: according to a Time magazine report, in the Czech Republic the number of guns held legally and in private ownership soared from 123,300 in 1992 (three years after the collapse of the Communist regime) to 562,320 in 2001. Free people want guns because guns help keep them free. That is why the US Bill of Rights locked in the right of the people “to keep and bear arms.” It was for the establishment of an armed citizenry which could defend itself against outside aggressors, and against tyrannical government. …

It’s unfathomable!
Heidi has a gun and she is not a mass murderer?

Fritz does not go on the blitz?

The Swiss have a amatory militia, yet they are the poster child for sweetness and light.

What’s up with that?

Hmmm.. an armed society is a POLITE SOCIETY.

I was Deep Sea Fishing this afternoon. Couldn’t get Salmon, as there was some restriction and we moved 7 miles north up the coast.

After I caught my limit of Rock Fish, I thought “Got a few hours to kill. Might as well clean my guns”.

So I’m about 2/3rds through when all of the sudden I feel a sudden gust of wind and the boat kinds bumps.

I laughed and went back to cleaning. Next thing I know a swell comes toward the boat. I mean I can see thing rise up and I grab hold of the rails, port side, to brace myself.

Not thinking, I left the guns on top of the ice chest I was using as my bench for cleaning the guns and this wave. No this massive wave, must’ve been 10 feet high washes over ralings and the deck.

These are open railings and I’m scared. I had one of my carabiners for mountain climbing and had hooked myself onto to the railing.

Damn good thinking.

This thing hit the boat like a Mac Truck and then it was like this river....It flooded and flooded and flooded. Just washing across the deck.

Well, the ice chest I had been using was lashsed to the railing as I now was and just bobbed as the wave kept coming.

I honestly thought the boat was going to be swamped...and then it stopped.

The boat rocked back and forth.

I’m wet, no, soaked to the bone and I look around to check on everyone. They are white as a ghost and look like someone was coming at them with a chainsaw. Scared.

I look down at the carabiner hooked onto the railing and attached to my belt. Realizing I was safe, I look toward the sun and started laughing, a little at first and then uncontrollably.

Looking back it’s so surreal, like I was losing my mind.

Then with horror I start looking around and they’re gone!!!

I can’t see my guns! Oh no!

Left. Right. Across the deck...I don’t see them.

Dear Gawd!!!

I unhook myself and frantically, frantically I’m running around the deck. I pop open deck lids, as if somehow my guns had become sentient and escaped down the hatch.

I catch my breath. It feels like I’ve been punched in the gut, in the lower ribs, in my chest.

I sink to my knees, realizing a simple truth that I couldn’t release myself from. I mean, I’m sane but, this doesn’t feel of this world.

Sadly, reality becomes part of my consciousness and immediately I open the lid of the ice chest my guns hitherto had been resting on. I grab a beer, pop it open and start gulping.

My eyes well up with tears and my breathing shallow at first, develops a wind as I cry, inconsolably, like a teenage boy who has had his heart broken by his 1st girlfriend. The one who cheated on him and there was no reason or logic behind it, just pain, deep, deep pain.

My mouth open wide, no sound can be uttered...They are gone.

My guns, my babies, those beautiful blue ones, the chrome ones and my gorgeous stainless steel babies are gone.

Davy Jones has come from his locker at the bottom of the sea to claim my babies. They don’t belong to him but, he took them nevertheless.

I go numb...

They’re gone and there is nothing I can do about it.

Each one was unique and I loved them in their special way. I honor them and can’t bring myself to replace them. It would insult their memory.

I am defenseless .... soft...melancholy...

Conservatives and supporters of the 2nd amendment the Obama regime and his hyphenated party followers, Demo-Coms, are using the 2nd amendment argument to blame gun owners for their inability to deal with the hundreds of gangland murders and shootings commited in areas under their solid control using illegally obtained firearms.

The Demo-Com’s solution to those inner city problems is to remove those rights provided by the constitution to have and bear arms from all US citizens before any search an seizure begins in those troublesome areas which by the way will never happen

Much more creative than "I lost all my guns in a terrible boating accident."

i read an article once several years ago that there are large numbers of illegal guns in China and Russia, despite their governments’ records of extreme repression. Illegal guns are not going to go away under any liberal utopian scenario.

I’m so “sorry” for your loss. I have fired a 21 shot volley with a sling shot in honor of your poor lost weapons!

Even if the gument was able to confiscate, enforce registration, etc. There was a couple of things not widely known about that occured in France WWII. The liberator (my favorite) and welrod. Essentially using the one to get more.

Just as long as you do not live in New Jersey. Possession of a sling shot is a felony in the Garden State. Nappen's book on NJ firearms laws attributes the ban on a typo that has never been corrected. The folks that wrote the law wanted to ban "slungshots" which was another term for a blackjack -- a heavy weight stuffed in a sock intended to be used to bludgeon an opponent.
