Will Maid be paid Reward for Dorner Information?
Gun Watch ^ | 13 February, 2013 | Dean Weingarten

Posted on 02/13/2013 6:10:38 AM PST by marktwain

A million dollar reward was offered by the LAPD for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Christopher Dorner. This story was published in the LA Times on 10 February, 2013.

The maid that surprised Dorner and told the police where he had been hiding was instrumental in ending the manhunt.

However, the report said that the reward would be for information leading to the "arrest and conviction" of Dorner. It was always highly doubtful that Dorner would ever be convicted, because it was highly doubtful that Dorner would ever be captured alive. Will the unnamed maid who escaped from Dorner's bonds and whose information lead to the end of the manhunt, receive the offered reward? Dorner will never be convicted now.

I am curious as to whether the maid will get the reward, or not. The initial terms of the offer seem to require "arrest and conviction". Obtaining both of those always seemed unlikely.

Way back they'd do these things on a 'dead or alive' basis ~ but i think there's a couple of laws out there about posting rewards for dead bodies! Somebody probably thought that encouraged killing.

Could be it means nothing at all ~ else why would people even try to help catch perps if they can't get the reward or simple capture, or death of the perp.

Of course she won’t.

Was anyone arrested? Was anyone convicted?

There is a reason these are worded the way they are.

What ever happened to those guys who posted a "dead or alive" on George Zimmerman's head?

It's the LAPD.
Will Los Angeles renege on the reward?
Of course they will. They had no intention of paying.

The earlier reports I read stated “arrest and apprehension”. I thought that wording to be a little strange at the time I read it. If that was his burned corpse, I guess one could argue that he has been both arrested abd apprehended.

The maid will likely not get one red penny. Police are notoriously stingy about adhering to the letter of the offer. Though they offered an “arrest and conviction” reward, they never had any intention at all of arresting.

Were they to arrest, he would get his day in court, and he would spend it upending many of the LAPDs rackets, naming names, etc.

The immediate concern is all the wackos out there who will now try to copycat him by offing a cop.

Since she is a maid, the LAPD will leave her a tip.

They got busted. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2012/03/27/new-black-panther-party-leader-arrested-on-charges-of-gun-possession/ That was back when that crowd thought of him as Jewish ~ and although that error in their analysis has been corrected (he’s probably as black as any of them) this arrest seems to have eliminated the main body of this fringe fringe group.

If she doesn’t get the reward, would anybody at all in the future ever respond to any such offers? Why would anybody take any risks at all when the wording is ambiguous, and possibly intended to make collection of the reward unlikely or impossible?

That's what I've read many times. Crimestoppers may pay the little rewards, but I don't recall a big reward ever being paid.

Nope. She won’t get a cent. I’m sure the Police are chalking this up to their own great police work.

Really? I figure there is some number of outsiders (non-cops) who will attempt to murder cops, for the same various reasons that have persisted for centuries. Wronged by the law, gang initiation, escape arrest, cop boinking wife/husband, and so on. And, much fewer in number, there is always a chance that an insider (a cop) will turn violent on his peers.

IOW, Dorner didn't create any new wackos, or any new reason for a wacko to attempt murder. He had his issue, and now he's dead. His issue died with him.

I have a guy on another thread calling me stupid for believing the LAPD was never going to bring this Dorner guy in alive...that it’s been their intent from the beginning to simply assassinate him, no matter the circumstances.

Here we had a situation where they could have laid siege and starved him out, and they “Waco’ed” him instead. Funny, I don’t feel very stupid today.

Yes. There is a near infinite supply of stupidity and naivete.

Plenty of people will help the system, because they find it the morally correct thing to do, or they are afraid and think the system will provide some protection.

Typical weasel words!!!

If they don't pay her the reward the LAPD will have a larger PR problem.

Yep. They shot up that truck delivering papers, which was no threat to anyone, without any warning.

Assassination was clearly the intent.

Dorner HAD to be permanently silenced lest he reveal factual information about the police corruption.

Only a naive idiot expected he would be arrested and a public trial held.

Now we will never know .

The choice of not apprehending Dorner was not her fault.
She did the right thing and should receive the reward.
