"Like a Good Neighbor, State Farm is there," but "THERE" will soon be Texas, not Illinois
Coach is Right ^ | 2/22/13 | Kevin "Coach" Collins

State Farm, the nationally knowninsurance chain headquartered in Bloomington Illinois, has apparently had its fill of “The Land of Lincoln’s” confiscatory taxes. The 800 million dollar company is reported to have purchased “substantial workspace” in the Dallas, Texas area. The giant insurance firm’s workers are being kept in the dark reportedly to avoid “alarming them” but is it their workers or the State of Illinois they would like to keep in the dark about this move? If this doesn’t signal State Farm’s coming dash out of Illinois’s clutches what could it mean?

A knowledgeable Dallas real estate insider has called this impending move “a major business relocation” of record breaking proportions. The numbers involved are approximately 2.5 million square feet of workspace and...

They’ve leased over a million square feet in Plano, Irving, and Dallas.

Their new building in Irving is just across from mine.

For the businesses that are relocating here; please don’t bring any transplants with you. They created the reason you moved in the first place...

Now in their commercials, the “pop-up” agent will be shown wearing a 10-gallon hat…

Welcome to Texas! WE have plenty of room and great people you can employ. Please don’t bring any liberals with you.

Most of Illinios is very conservative - My wife is from that area, went to school in bloomington - if they relocate folks from central Illinios, they’ll fit right in in Texas.

It’s the greater Chicago area that runs Ilinois and is nearly impossible to overcome in elections for down staters - it’s a constant complaint..

I believe there is even a fringe movement to make Chicago its’ own district like DC and the rest of Illinios would run itself.

I’m from Texas - live in WIsconsin now - Scott Walker has been lobbying hard to get John Deere to move to Wisco -

Serves them right. This is only the beginning. It just takes time to make plans to relocate such a large company, but it will continue to happen until the socialists see that their policies do not work in a free market economy.

Hey! Ol’ Cletus came from suburban Chicago in 2011. Don’t write us all off!

Most might be happy to come south and be able to own a gun and criticize the gummint with out backwash from some smarmy prius driver (Austin excluded)!

Isn’t Chicago and most of Illinois catholic? If so, how are they so liberal where they are liberal? It doesn’t make any sense to me.

“Most of Illinios is very conservative”

Probably land wise but not population wise. Just seeing what is being elected in the state. I know there are Consevative areas but like California there is just not enough of them.

“I believe there is even a fringe movement to make Chicago its’ own district like DC and the rest of Illinios would run itself.”

Actually, a better idea might be to lop off the northernmost 25 miles of Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio (including Cleveland), and add to that the southeast portion of Wisonsin including Milwaukee — and make those combined areas one new state.

Southern Illinois probably wouldn’t mind — nor would southern Ohio, Indiana, and the rest of Wisconsin. All of them would instantly change from the blue or purple categories into “leaning red”.

Shout that from the rooftops!

After Volkswagen decided to build in Chattanooga, TN, they started recruiting for plant workers - in Michigan! While I know that there are plenty of good people in Michigan, it's rather dangerous recruiting for auto workers in the land of UAW. If you want a successful auto-manufacturing operation, the UAW is the last place I'd seek employees.

If the conservatives keep moving out of state, then Chicago will have to support itself.

I've heard similar things about Detroit. Some of the surrounding areas are still nice, but the city itself is in ruins.

As a Houstonian who has lived in Wisconsin and Minnesota, I noticed the weather was a little different in your area.

Learning to use an ice chest and keeping a canteen of hot water in it instead of ice, to keep my beer drinkable, was a new experience, as was having my long neck beer freeze in my (gloved) hand while walking to a friends house in sub zero temps.

You missed the size of the company by 8000%, it did $64 BILLION in 2011, I haven't seen the 2012 results.

If State Farm only did $800 million, Illinois wouldn't even miss them, and wouldn't say goodbye.
