Bush had his own bozos, true. But Romney actually lent a couple of his worst handlers to McCain for his run. I don’t recall their names, but they spent all their time undermining Sarah Palin. One of them wrote a book full of lies afterward, bashing her.

Certainly I’m not sticking up for Karl Rove, Bush’s favorite.

Stu apparently has forgotten who was covering the McCain campaign in 2008 for Time Magazine.

I will buy him a clue: it was Jay Carney.

Perry.

Just think he wasn’t as strong as originally anticipated.

At least last time. Willing to look at him again. Along with several other candidates.

Perry had one bad night, and it sunk him. I like some things about him, some things not so much, but I think there is potential, if he knows how to handle the hostile media in a way that can turn it around in his favor...and I’ve seen that in him before. I don’t think the other candidates had that ability.

IIRC, he had just come off of back surgery and was still on pain killers. Just about the worst bit of bad timing for him.

Some ‘straterigist’ Stu—you didn’t even know your competition was in the tank of the Left Scheme Media. Try reading FR, Breitbart, or listen to Rush, Hannity or Levin for a few pointers. Blinded Idiots (willful or ignorant) ran Romney’s campaign.

Agreed. He also made some bad statements regarding immigration, but I think he could have come around on it. He certainly wasn’t any worse than the other candidates in that area.

the media isn’t in the tank for democrat candidates?

they call him ‘Barak Hussein 0bama’ ... that’s not even his real, legal, name. it’s an alias.

they don’t even know this. THAT’S how in the tank they are for dem candidates

if you’re going to war, you really don’t want your people thinking the enemy are swell guys just a little misunderstood.

You are right.

I tried to listen to Stu, but couldn't (for the life of me) figured out how he arrived at his conclusions.

Not logical. Nor based on simple reality that everyone else can see.

Romney went around discussing how he'd campaign in order to raise funds from wealthy donors. He told them he was going after the 10% of the voters he described as a moderate undecided middle.

Of course there is no middle in American politics ~ and it's too late to change minds with a campaign ~ you need to get that out off the way years before so that you can focus your campaign on firing up your own party members to vote and saying bad things about the opponent (to dispirit the other party's members so they don't vote).

Obviously Romney himself was pretty naive, as were his staffers, but he did get money out of the rich donors. Kind of makes me wonder if rich donors are smart, or if smart, just how politically astute can they be to believe such utter rubbish!

Next time we decide to run a Democrat make sure the other guys are not also running a Democrat. As Harry Truman said, 'given the choice between a real Democrat and a fake Democrat, the American people will chose the real Democrat every time'.

Perry had had back surgery and he couldn't do his recovery without pain pills ~ and I"d just bet he didn't do that surgery without antesthesia ~ like I would have ~ it's so infrequently you get to experience exquisite pain a man would be a fool to give it up eh!

His problem was pretty apparent ~ he just couldn't keep his mind straight. That's always a bad sign in a candidate or President of course.

No love for Romney or his stooges but the question is a no-win situation. If they complain of media bias they look like whiners. If they say there is no media bias they look like fools. I guess they prefer to look like fools than whiners? Beats the heck out of me :-)

The "D" and the "R" are interchangeable. The GOPe via the Romney strategist has verified media is a sacred cow. Voting for GOPe candidates are thus a complete and utter waste of conservative votes. Might as well watch NBC/MSNBC/ABC/CBS or CNN for political news.

This admission IMHO is the fork in the belly of the GOP and their breed of candidates. Mainstream media must be celebrating this admission and laughing at the wannabe democrats.

He had Addison’s disease ~ and the back problem is related to that. You probably ought to read a more up to date listing of his problems at a thread like this one: http://www.doctorzebra.com/prez/g35.htm ~ just like to say there’s a known genetic connection between several of his problems and having a 9th Century Viking as an ancestor, or maybe a little more recent Sa’ami in the Nieuwe Sverige Colony. Look at the treatments given for his problems. Today I don’t think any of those things are used ~ science marches on!

You appear to be falling for the Rove trap, that is, take a poll, and then try and position your candidate or your party to agree with that poll, regardless of how misguided it is.

Reagan, Newt in the 90s, (Newt for a while in 2011) - the 2010 mid term agenda, was not about agreeing with polls. Those victories were about convincing voters we are right. There’s a huge difference. The Rove way fails.

Stevens has probably evaluated his current employment possibilities and decided that few Republican candidates will want to hire him after the November debacle. However, perhaps there’s a place for another Karl Rove-type talking head somewhere in the MSM.

That comment told millions of voters to stay home because Romney didn’t believe in anything.

Fehrnstorm’s consultant company made millions off the Romney campaign funds in the process. Think he’s worried about Obama’s reign of terror.

You misunderstand.

I think the Rove strategy is reprehensible, and is the undoing of the conservative movement.

However, the polls do demonstrate persuasively that a huge fraction of Americans think they are entitled to receive free stuff from government.
