Is it possibleor even imaginablethat in the United States of America, police could go door to door and confiscate citizens legally owned firearms?
To many, such a concern is conspiratorial and evidence of paranoia. They might be surprised to learn that not only has outright gun confiscation of legally purchased weapons already occurred in a major way in the U.S., but public officials in some areas are right now attempting to pass legislation to allow more of the same.
Alas, with the national furor over multiple new gun restrictions being proposed by President Obama via executive action, in Congress, in state legislatures and in municipalities, the plan being forwarded by officials in Guntersville, Ala., this week drew scarcely a mention in the media.
Mayor Leigh Dollar says that in case of an emergency or crisis, she wants police officers to have the authority to disarm individuals, if necessary.
We are not trying to infringe upon anyone constitutional rights whatsoever, she says. Its just to protect the workers working out there in a disaster.
The ordinance is up for debate at the city council meeting next week.
Such blatant grabs for guns are not new in the U.S. Less than a year ago, the Second Amendment Foundation fought a court battle over a North Carolina regulation that banned firearms and ammunition outside the home during any declared emergency, and won.
And just days ago, it was revealed that a provision in a new Washington-state gun-control bill was so draconian that even its sponsors backtracked or denied any knowledge of it when they were confronted about it.

What an absolute, complete, total, 100% croc of pure, unadulterated bullsh-- Of course they want to infringe on people's rights. The reason I have such a virulent hatred for slime bags like this, is because they lie as a matter of course. Lying is totally natural for them.
Well stated. Totally agree with your words
There is an AL law about this which has been on the books since 1950’s or 60’s . Or, that is what I read on a local site.
However I have a good "friend" who has guns and lots of ammo. I will tell him about this.
From what I found out.....she’s a Democrap.
Usually, in town elections, the party affiliation is not mentioned. THAT needs to change.
For those obsessed with the exercise of power over others, the Orwellian dream dies hard.
There will come a day, and probably soon, when someone will post on the internet that his house is surrounded by “officials” who came to take his guns. His cry for help will be like that of Travis at the Alamo. And the response will be the same. In fact, most will say “We’re probably not hearing the whole story.”
How’s that for pessimism?
her logic is utter bs. armed citizens would protect workers fixing their neighborhoods.
Thats not pessimism, thats real life and coming soon.
I hear ya', brother - guns frighten me now - so I traded all mine for a table saw and garden tools.
perhaps another boating accident. this keeps up and the next drought will uncover an arsenal on the lake bed.
I read on FB that they had a 5 minute meeting yesterday and took it off. Wonder if people let their views be heard. This is AL so what in the world was she thinking? Oh, I forgot. Dems do not think. Also read that people were saying they would not support the pro bass tourney next year if this passed. Guess money talks.
