He just gifted what could have been used to pay almost 4,000 fireman or teachers or LEOS.

Becuase he knows there is plenty of money.

John Kerry didn’t “gift” any thing to Egypt,
you and I and every American who has had to
tighten our belts did and I for one am damn
tired of it.

Cut foreign aid NOW.
Let the world see how they like that.

Note that Justice Joseph Story had clarified that Congress could not use the General Welfare Clause as an excuse to lay taxes that would ultimately be used for foreign aid purposes.
"If the tax be not proposed for the common defence, or general welfare, but for other objects, wholly extraneous, (as for instance, for propagating Mahometanism among the Turks, or giving aids and subsidies to a foreign nation, to build palaces for its kings, or erect monuments to its heroes,) it would be wholly indefensible upon constitutional principles (emphases added)." --Justice Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution 2 (1833).

Every American needs to be on the telephone to the Congress-critters complaining to them - of BOTH parties! Tie up the WH phones!!

AND, remember this come election day (if we have one) to replace everyone who had served more than 2 terms...These were not meant to be career positions! Originally, congress was is session for a very short time, pay was LOW to encourage them to get the business of government done and return to their real lives in order to provide for their families.

We are the lazy ones - instead of being active, we've been going along to get along and look what we've got now!!

Get active! Take back control of Congress!

Thank you for the title correction!

Slightly off topic, but why couldn’t the author use the verb, “give” instead of the noun, “gift?”

While I am aware of certain tax situations where gift is used as a verb, when did it enter the lexicon of contemporary language?

It's a recurring problem associated with higher usage. Apparently some kind of load shedding software "feature".

The new (and likely more capable) hardware didn't "fix" it.
