Fox News Declares Ted Cruz Ineligible To Be POTUS Due To Birth In Canada [American Mother]

Now we are finally getting somewhere. Just like Obama is ineligible technically because his fathers British Nationality 'governed' his birth status in 1961, Ted Cruz is ineligible too. Fox News has confirmed it and rightly so. Sean Hannity made a huge blunder the other day and declared Ted Cruz a natural born citizen because he was born to a American mother in Canada. He was so wrong. Cruz is a 14th Amendment U.S. 'statutory' (not natural born) citizen which is something completely different than a Article 2 Section 1 Constitutional natural born Citizen which is explicitly designed only for the presidency by the framers.

Hmmm. Why did Obama feel compelled to state that his birth status was governed by the British Nationality Act of 1948 rather than the 14th Amendment?

Cruz would be a statutory U.S. citizen, not a natural born Citizen. A statutory citizen (bestowed by man’s pen) can never be a “natural born” citizen (bestowed by God/nature).

That is not so. Once your son resides in US for more than 14 years, he will be eligible.

Sarah Palin is a natural-born citizen because her parents were US citizens, even though she was born in Idaho, which was not US territory, let alone a state, at the time the Constitution was adopted.

Charles Francis Adams, a son of John Quincy Adams, was almost nominated for President in 1872 by the Liberal Republicans (the anti-Grant faction) but lost out to Horace Greeley. His mother was born in London in 1775 to an American father and an English mother. His supporters in 1872 clearly did not see him as disqualified.

John McCain was born on base. It was declared ‘US soil’, thus he is eligible. My son was born in a German hospital. He is not. He was born on foreign soil.

Yes. Children of service members who are born abroad of two US Citizen parents are NOT eligible to be POTUS. (At least that’s what I was told by the US Embassy when my son was born.)

LOL! Everyone talks about 'natural born' yet acts as if it only takes a single parent to make a baby.

Cruz is a statutory citizen, but not a 14th Amendment one. 14th Amendment statutory citizens stem from a perversion of the purpose of the Amendment itself in the mid 1960's. Despite what Congress syas, children of foreigners are NOT Citizens of the United States under the Original Intent of the 14th Amednment.

Natural born refers to your natural parents. Cruz's natural parents were Cuban and American, so he was a dual citizen at birth and became a naturalized American when he chose which nationality he would claim upon reaching the age of majority.

He is not eligible for the Office of President...although I sincerely wish he was.

In your scenario, your child would be born a U.S. citizen, just not eligible to fill the office of President. For that he must be born in the U.S. to two naturalized American citizens. Though not defined within the Constitution itself, the term “naturalized citizen” historically has come to be defined as “born within the Republic”.

“And, by our currently popular standard definition of natural born citizenship, that child would also be a natural born of whatever country s/he was born in, just as anchor babies are said to be natural born citizens of this country.”

That is something we must fight to stop from happening. It goes against our founders original intent.

My husband is a soldier and we were stationed in Germany at the time of my son’s birth. I was told by the US Embassy when we received his “American Citizen Born Abroad” birth certificate that the ONLY thing he couldn’t do was become POTUS.

John McCain was born in Panama to 2 US citizen parents. McCain is a natural born citizen and, as we've seen, quite obviously eligible to be President. Why would your son not be eligible when McCain is? Sounds like the embassy gave you the wrong information.

Cruz’s father was also a US citizen at the time of his birth.

No, Cruz's father didn't become a citizen until 2005.

We are splitting hairs and killing our messengers.

This entire thing is mental masturbation.

When the 2nd amendment was penned the intent was clear.
“The right to bear arms shall not be infringed”

Yet some folks take the clause about a well regulated militia(the common man and citizen) and twist that into something that was not implied.

I think some of us would disarm the people because they themselves have a lack of resolve and mental clarity.

Do not shoot Ted Cruz.

-——why ?——

because Senator Cruz doesn’t have urban assault vehicles and drones at his beck and call.

Obama can and will kill those who did him

All three of my kids were born overseas. My sons were born in the U.S. Army Hospital at Camp Zama, Japan, and my daughter was born in a British hospital (private insurance, not on the NHS). Since both of their parents are natural born US Citizens, they can hold any office.

What it it comes down to, and what the founders intended was declaration of allegiance.

At this point even an anchor baby could become president.

I think a constitutional clarification or amendment is needed to cover those circumstances where a person was born to American parents overseas who both were there temporarily and had no plans to be ex-pat. To deny such a person a right to run for president simply because of the temporary locale of the American Citizen birth mother and father really is choking at gnats and swallowing camels.

As for Obama...throw the bum out!
