Government is the Problem
- By: Larry Walker II -
Originally passed as part of the Budget Control Act of 2011 on the heels of the debt ceiling compromise, the sequester was intended to pressure the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction (the Supercommittee) to agree on a budget of $1.5 trillion by way of spending cuts and revenue increases over the next decade.
The above excerpt is from the National Council on Disabilitys webpage entitled, What Will Sequestration Mean for People with Disabilities? A similar blurb may now be found on about every other government agency website, followed by a breakdown of how many disabled, homeless, widows and orphans will be left for dead, unless the federal government repeals its week-old budgetary cuts and instead raises taxes by around 40.7% across-the-board, which is about what it would take to come anywhere close to balancing the federal budget without such cuts.
But, the real question is what does the sequestration mean to you? I cant answer that, but I can tell you what it means to me. What the sequestration means to me is that the U.S. government has decayed to the point of passing dummy laws, solely for the purpose of pressuring the very lawmakers who pass them, to enact real laws. In other words, government enacted the Sequester as law; solely as a means of pressuring itself into repealing it, and when its attempt failed, the mock law remained permanent.
I mean its akin to me signing a blood covenant stating that, In my household, we will do without cable television, cell phone data plans, dining out, movies, snacks, and all other non-necessities, until such time as we actually have the money to pay for it, but doing so, solely for the purpose of pressuring myself into deciding which we are going to do without cable television, cell phone data plans, dining out, movies, snacks, or all other non-necessities. However, since there already wasnt enough money to go around, and since I had already signed the covenant in my own blood, there was really nothing else to decide. So why didnt I just make that decision from the get go? Actually, I did. To thine own self be true. ~ Anonymous
The lesson for government: Dont pass a law you dont intend to enforce. And for the public: Government is not the solution to our problems, government is the problem. Signing a bill into law, solely for the purpose of pressuring lawmakers to repeal it, and then whining about it when they refuse, is indicative of the kind of leadership emanating from the White House these days. In America you have a right to be stupid if you want to be. ~ John Kerry, Secretary of State (2/26/2013). Yeah, so whos looking stupid now?
...it has become a method of displaying how thuggish Odungo is and how he is the supreme elitist......
The popular meaning is that "Obama is lying". As part of a cultural meme, however, the same meaning has been extended to the days of a week or at least those that end with "Y", full calendar months and apparently there are recent findings associating said meaning to Aztec prophecy.
A molecule of water removed from the oceans of the world.
It means I can’t take my 22 year old daughter to the Airfest in Tampa but gave us an hour of political discussion regarding this administration wanting to hurt us. Those father-daughter discussions are priceless and usually end up on a shooting range exercising our birthright as Americans. This morning as I was heading to work, I noticed both her shoulders were bruised from my 12 Ga over under. She shoots ambidextrous and when shooting clays, when on shoulder gets sore, she just switches. I’m so proud of her I am about to bust.
It means that the feral government is getting a .98 cents an hour raise, rather than the $1.00 an hour raise they were expecting.
In fact, that is precisely what the sequester is. Nothing more.
It means that they deliberately chose a big word that the low information public would not understand, or bother to look up. Then, with the public pushing its head further up its a$$, the government would be able to say and do anything it pleased.
Passed through TSA screening 4 times this week. It was no different. There were as many retards standing around, many of them looking like low information voters. They were just as annoying as before. They were as slow and stupid as before. There was no difference in the delay. I was hoping there might be .2% less of these morons, but I guess not...
But that's just me ...
I don’t know what to think. Sequestration went into effect a week ago, and yet, contrary to what Obama would have me believe, the sun still came up today. I have electricity and running water. I went to the supermarket this morning, and the shelves were not bare - I was able to get everything I wanted. I had the money to pay for my groceries becasue there was no run on the bank. Driving home, I didn’t see planes falling out of the sky. The traffic lights are working. The hospitals are open. Life seems to be the same as it was prior to sequestration. I’m totally confused.
It means Obama is going to make it hurt the American people as much as possible, so no one will cross him and Michelle again. It’s the “Chicago Way”. - Meantime, no ones Obamaphone or gubmint check will be hurt in the least. Obama voters, you see.
A wag (moi) recently suggested that the low-information, low-IQ voters who have treated us to another 4 years of obozo's scorched earth campaign might better understand the process if some of the members of congress would volunteer for a public castration.
It was then that it occurred to me that, with a few exceptions -- and we all know who they are -- THERE ISN'T A PAIR OF BALLS ON CAPITOL HILL!
Sequestration means pretty much nothing. Federal spending won’t increase quite as much as it would have otherwise. Yawn.
phony spending cuts libtars cry bput tat will end the world as we know it.
