Why Has There Been No Revolution?
Freedom Outpost ^ | Mar. 23, 2013 | William Lafferty

When the central government in the United States rams through a 2700 page bill that was not read by any person who voted for it and whose impossible promises of more-for-less are now being revealed as a fraud; when the government, without apparent concern, rapidly inflates the national debt to 16 trillion that it will admit to (actually it’s 83 trillion); when the federal government sues the state of Arizona to stop it from guarding the borders and enforcing federal laws concerning illegal aliens; and when the government announces that it wishes to ban all weapons that would allow citizens to resist government overreaching, how far distant is revolution?

This question must have run through the minds of anyone who has read the newspapers for the last four or five years. In today’s Wall Street Journal in the “Notable & Quotable” column, historian Paul Rahe, citing Tocqueville, writes:

“One key indicator [of readiness for revolution] is that those with access to the levers of power within the ruling order cease to believe in the religion or ideology that legitimizes the regime. . . . First goes the belief in the legitimacy of the system. Then comes a trigger–an event which causes large numbers of people to say to themselves, ‘I cannot take this anymore.’ Then, the crucial question is whether those in charge have the nerve to try to crush the rebellion and whether their underlings will follow orders. If the powers that be are hesitant, ambivalent, or divided, if their underlings are fed up, things can very easily come apart (as they did in eastern Europe, in the Soviet union, and in Tunisia, Egypt, libya, and Syria).”

I don’t think the average citizen is smart enough to identify the source of the infringement upon their property and rights.

They have drank the Kool Aid for so long that they have built up a tolerance to accepting falsehood and are just weak enough to acquiesce to any further assault upon their position.

Most liberals, even when shown point blank, the consequences of their decisions, blame it upon “Republicans”.

Do you think the DHS buying all the ammo is an attempt to make it rare for public consumption?

Revolution can’t come soon enough for this country, it’s going to take it for restoration of government by the Constitution.

Nature of warfare has changed.

Nature of legitimate grouping has changed.

We aren’t fighting nations, economic establishments, political parties, military forces, intellectual frameworks, religious doctrines,....It’s almost as if there are stronger spiritual forces at play here.

Of course, but there are hundreds of billions of rounds already in civilian hands.

“As I’ve always said, for a revolution to take place, the conditions have to be pretty dire (children being ripped from parents, etc.) People in general just want to get on with their lives and as long as they can have at least the illusion of doing so, they’re fine with that.”

I pretty much agree with your assessment. Also the American people are slow to anger and tend to be pretty forgiving.

I’m pretty convinced the Rev is coming but there will have to be a tipping point like the economic collapse and Obama using it as a way to declare martial law and suspend elections or coming after the guns.

But its coming because you cannot have a country with the deep division we currently have between the percentage of the population that wants Socialism/Marxism and the percentage that want to restore the constitutional republic. Somebody has to win and somebody has to lose. It cannot go on indefinitely without resolution. IMO we are past the ballot box on the restoration of the republic.

Dr. Carson is the only one to call him out so far, none of the political class, not even Sen. Cruz, has called him out; but, you’re right, he should be called out daily by the opposition and isn’t, makes me wonder if there is any opposition.

America's backbone is being eaten away.

It was a foregone conclusion once the government schools were taken over by the radical leftists.

The leftist run schools have now churned out 2 to 3 generations of voting age people, most of whom have been brainwashed with socialist, politically correct dogma from their first days in kindergarten (or Head-Start).

Take a look at photos of TEA party gatherings.

The older generation outnumber young people by a large factor. Most young people today know almost nothing about American history, have been taught not to be judgmental, and have heads full of mushy leftist socialist, Feel-good propaganda.

Look at photos of rebellions around the world. It is not the grandmas and grandpas leading the way and manning most of the barricades.

Older generations are fed up and ready to do the job but history shows it is the young of nation who do the hard work of bringing about violent change.

The old generation of republicans are a big part of the problem - they go along with everything. When is the last time they did a massive walkout or a mass filibuster? Answer: Never in our memory.

They spend most of their time trying to take out the young guns in their own party instead of fighting the leftists.

Listen to what leftists really say - they know that once the older generations pass away they will have almost no opposition.

I haven’t told my sister, who smokes like a chimney, how much more her premiums will go up under Obamacare. She would just say “Oh, pleeese.”

She thinks Obama has done a lot for this country.

She’ll find out in due time.

It’s mostly because Americans as a whole care more about their STUFF than their country and their children’s future. We’re watching America being intentionally driven into the dirt but at least we still have our STUFF!

Insurance companies are currently factoring in a 50% increase for 2014 smokers as a “starting point”.

I thought I read somewhere that they will tack on $5,000 to the cost of your premium.

In terms of “real dollars”, and based on an IRS finding that premiums for a “bronze plan” would cost a family of four about $20,000 a year, we’re close to $5K per individual.

Don’t forget, the liberal parents will still be on the medical bill hook until their children hit 26,...even if they are in the military, have jobs, or are married....
