Bloomberg Anti-Freedom Commercial will Fall Flat
Gun Watch ^ | 25 March, 2013 | Dean Weingarten

Anti-freedom politicians have a history of overreaching on guns. They think they can fool the stupid country rubes by picking up a shotgun and asking "can I get me a hunting license here?", the image of Diane Feinstein with her finger inside the trigger guard of an AK47 variant, and various political figures picking up guns just prior to elections.

Mayor Bloomberg Bloomberg is attempting to do the same with his 12 million dollar buy of commercials pushing for universal gun registration (also known as Universal Background Checks) in 13 states.

Here is one of the advertisements.

In the advertisement, you see many cultural referents designed to create a link to the rural gun culture. There is a pickup truck, a beard, a plaid shirt/jacket, children in the background playing on a tire swing.

But all that is undercut by the body language of the actor who is transmitting the message. It is clear that the gun is merely a prop. It is hard for me to pin exactly what screams "fake" to me from the screen. Maybe it is the time of year. Maybe it is the way he is positioned on the truck. Perhaps more alert viewers will be able to explain it better.

I do not think that Mayor Bloomberg is going to be able to fool many people in the gun culture with this message, and I do not think he will convince many outside of it to action.

How lame!

I concur, Fiji Hill. Speaking strictly as a marketing and advertising guy of many years' experience: the piece was gone over too many times by too many people who were too intent on force-fitting too many messages into one small chunk of time. It's overwrought. There's nothing spontaneous-feeling about it, which means there's no credibility.

How much credibility can we expect from wannabe tyrants?

What this needs is a video parody contest.

“I’m an American who believes that Mayor Bloomberg is a dangerously mentally ill person, with a neurotic compulsion to control the lives of others.

“That he and those like him are allowed to wander the streets is a threat to all of us, and putting him in a position of political power to the life, liberty and property of all.

“Let’s all work together and ask congress to give Mayor Bloomberg the mental health care for his sickness, that all his billions of dollars have not been used to heal.”

Oh, because the guy chosen looked like a gun totin’ guy with a pick up truck who just wanted to kill squirrels to fry. Nothin’ else.

Bloomberg and his azzholes have chosen a stereotype that make them look foolish to the average guy. We gunowners aren’t all the picture of a guy with a mullet hair do in the deep woods.

Good Gawd, east coast libs are morons. We laugh at them.

I think the NRA could come up with a kick ass response on video to the Bloomberg dumbassery. It could be really good if the right sarcastic person can come up with a great response.

Bloomberg’s ad is not at all cool.

Being a redneck myself & associating with a lot of rednecks I can say something is wrong with the ad.

His beard is too professionally trimmed. Even though he isn’t dressed in new clothes, they show no signs of the kind of wear & tear work clothes get. The bed of his pickup looks too pristine & he sounds too prissy.

He just looks like a grad student majoring in film, acting in a commercial.

Since when can somebody “Clintonize” SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED!!

Obama, Bloomberg, and any other bureaucrat, is NOT going to be fruitful in their pursuit.

Guns have been part of the birthing, and defense of this nation, long before a Jewish New York billioniare bought his mayordom, or an Indonesian Communist fraud, was foisted into the Presidency by the news media machine.

Never had we a time, until that weak-appendaged, fat, drunken fool of a senator named Kennedy, tried to disarm us all. The Democrats have been trying ever since.

When the American government points a bayonet in the face of John Q./Jane Q. Public, if the fur hasn’t flown by then, it darn well will, at that point in time.

How lame. No real gun owner would have his finger on the trigger. Around the grip, perhaps. Extended outside the trigger guard, perhaps. On the trigger itself, no freakin’ way.

We will likely find out that the so-called "hunter" in this Bloom-turd commercial is either an actor or a Democrat or both.

An image from an ad funded by Michael Bloom berg with a hunter who says he supports background checks.

Shiny new peach basket, probably bought at Pier One the day before filming.
Maybe someone should have thought to age it a little.
No tools, tow strap, rags, jumper cables or empty beer cans in the bed.
They should have also include a old lop ear hound!

What is it about the commercial that screams "Fake"?

1. Finger on trigger

2. Closed chamber suggesting a loaded chamber

3. Gun on lap, uncontrolled, with finger on trigger, presumably loaded.

All the people involved in making that commercial and publishing it and not a single person noted all of the issues that destroys the credibility of the actor?

THAT'S how ignorant they are.

His finger is not actually on the trigger, it just looks that way from the awkward way he is holding the firearm.
