White House Demands American Sheriffs Enforce Gun Control
Freedom Outpost ^ | Mar. 29, 2013 | Tim Brown

Posted on 03/29/2013 1:25:10 PM PDT by EXCH54FE

It’s about to get real people. There are those in law enforcement who are standing for the law of the land and then there are the radical Socialists in Washington who seek to trample the law under their feet. Since a number of brave men in this country have come forward to state that as the supreme law enforcement officers in their counties they will not enforce new gun control laws, the Obama White House has demanded that they must.

The Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (CSPOA) has the support of at least 381 sheriffs and the cooperation of at least 15 state sheriff associations stating that they will not enforce federal or state gun laws they consider unconstitutional.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Jay Carney was asked by CNSNews.com, “There have been 381 sheriffs that have signed on saying they would not enforce gun laws they believed were unconstitutional. Would the administration have a problem if local law enforcement did not enforce whatever gun package were to pass?”

While Carney said he had not seen the list of sheriffs, probably like he claimed a video was responsible for Benghazi, he did say, “I think as a general proposition we think that people ought to follow the law. As an absolute matter of fact in my view, and I think many other constitutional experts, there’s not a single measure in this package of proposals the president has put forward that in anyway violates the Constitution. In fact, they reflect the president’s commitment to our Second Amendment rights.”

“When Rosa Parks didn’t give up her seat on the bus, should she have been arrested or should the police have escorted her home?” Mack said. “The law was to arrest her. It was a stupid, unconstitutional law.”

Under this legislation, a law enforcement officer or sheriff found guilty would be removed from office and not allowed back in office for a period of ten years. Seriously, this should be applied to Ms. Davis and those who think like her, not upstanding sheriffs who are dismissing unlawful laws.

So they are supposed to enforce federal gun control laws, but ignore federal immigration laws?

Can't have it both ways, @$$holes.

Shove it up your very personal, very smelly, and very probably previously visited Obama, Obamadork.

The sheriffs possess what you never had....b*lls.

Just try to do something to them and perhaps you’ll be the proud recipient of Cw-II.

WHut is more likely than UN to nuke Texas. While UN is making threats against Austin, the WHut is making threats to color Texas "blue".

These are Socialists we’re talking about. They don’t come at you head on. They’ll do evil sneaky under-the-table stuff like: lock down bank accounts to prevent sheriffs from paying their staff, refuse help in an emergency, have their agents harass the “little people”, or threaten to close interstate highways. Remember Texas when they were ready to tell the TSA to go stick it? DC threatened to shut off ALL air traffic into the state. This is the evil we are dealing with.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

I hate to inform the emperor but cops make legal judgement calls every day. Lord knows how many times I was saved from arrest during my misspent youth by a cop who didn’t think the law was well served by following it to the letter.

I am very afraid, unfortunately, that people the world over have never valued freedom enough. The reason may be that it is just too intangible for people to grasp. Food, clothing, shelter: those are things they can touch and have an immediate attachment towards, but freedom? No. Bread and circuses can run an empire for centuries.

.... and immigration, and voters rights, and court orders to to lift drilling bans, and tax laws against officials, and the removal of the illegal NLRB members.

If I were the sheriffs, I would issue a letter to the White House that since they are being compelled to enforce the gun laws that they will also enforce the immigration laws. Time to turn the tide and crush this tyrannical administration.

States are not mere political subdivisions of the United
States. State governments are neither regional offices nor
administrative agencies of the Federal Government. The
positions occupied by state officials appear nowhere on the
Federal Government’s most detailed organizational chart.
The Constitution instead “leaves to the several States a residuary and inviolable sovereignty,” The Federalist No. 39, p. 245 (C. Rossiter ed. 1961), reserved explicitly to the States by the Tenth Amendment.

Whatever the outer limits of that sovereignty may be, one
thing is clear: The Federal Government may not compel the
States to enact or administer a federal regulatory program.

In feudal England, the sheriff was sort of the last line of defense of the shire or county, representing the count or duke while they may have been absent serving in the king’s army, a bulwark against the king’s unmitigated power. The king also had his own man in the county level as well, the coroner. Over the years, the offices have changed a little bit, but this was their original purpose. Coroners still exist, but they have become the official arbiters of cause of death in unnatural circumastances.

It was not uncommon to find the sheriff and the coroner at odds over the administration of the local affairs. The sheriff was almost always the one who prevailed.

I pray that these news stories are satire. Somehow they never are!!!

Why was ayn so very correct with this statement?

“We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force.” Ayn Rand
