For all of you who think the military will not move against the civilian populace, google "Bonus Army". Here, I'll do it for you:

At 4:45 p.m., commanded by Gen. Douglas MacArthur, the 12th Infantry Regiment, Fort Howard, Maryland, and the 3rd Cavalry Regiment, supported by six battle tanks commanded by Maj. George S. Patton, formed in Pennsylvania Avenue while thousands of civil service employees left work to line the street and watch. The Bonus Marchers, believing the troops were marching in their honor, cheered the troops until Patton ordered the cavalry to charge them—an action which prompted the spectators to yell, "Shame! Shame!"
Shacks that members of the Bonus Army erected on the Anacostia Flats burning after the confrontation with the military.
After the cavalry charged, the infantry, with fixed bayonets and adamsite gas, an arsenical vomiting agent, entered the camps, evicting veterans, families, and camp followers. The veterans fled across the Anacostia River to their largest camp and President Hoover ordered the assault stopped. However Gen. MacArthur, feeling the Bonus March was a attempt to overthrow the U.S. government, ignored the President and ordered a new attack. Fifty-five veterans were injured and 135 arrested. A veteran's wife miscarried. When 12-week-old Bernard Myers died in the hospital after being caught in the tear gas attack, a government investigation reported he died of enteritis, while a hospital spokesman said the tear gas "didn't do it any good."
During the military operation, Major Dwight D. Eisenhower, later the 34th President of the United States, served as one of MacArthur's junior aides. Believing it wrong for the Army's highest-ranking officer to lead an action against fellow American war veterans, he strongly advised MacArthur against taking any public role: "I told that dumb son-of-a-bitch not to go down there," he said later. "I told him it was no place for the Chief of Staff." Despite his misgivings, Eisenhower later wrote the Army's official incident report which endorsed MacArthur's conduct.

They will do as they are ordered.

Enlisted oath “I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

Officers oath: “I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God.”

Draw your own conclusions as to whether or not they will fire.

Rear Echelon Mother F*****s

Got it. The guys 'in the rear with the gear' probably comprise at least half of the estimated 1.5 million uniformed personnel.

Plenty of problems with this scenario. It would first require the secrecy of the Manhattan Project to bring off. Thanks to libs love of leaks, that part isn't going to happen. Not even close. Leftists would even upset the whole apple cart just to show off.

Next is a large group of private gun owners, law enforcement. Every LEO I know and knew has more personal guns than I do. Some would have been called arsenals. If the feds drop the hammer they're going to have to include law enforcement in the plans. One would have to be a moron to think that they would be involved in a national gun grab and not eventually include their own.

What was that part again about following orders?

This was well over a decade before the Nuremberg Trials where just following orders was no defense.

“Whacking out a television reporter or newscaster whose reportage was especially hostile towards the revolution was called dropping anchor.”

I laugh every time I remember that quote...

Where did that great quote come from?

Not today.

Post-WWII things changed dramatically.

The “I was only following orders” defense is no more.

Additionally, LOAC and other training regarding defense of the Constitution is on-going and recurring.

If you look at the voting pattern of the average serviceman, very much conservative, pro-Second Amendment, American in every way. Therefore, if you think today’s military will follow some messianic leader you are mistaken.

I suggest that if you thank a serviceman for his service you should stop because he, according to you, is one step away from shooting you if obummer says so.

But believe what you will.

Have a nice Easter.

“and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.”

Explicit is the phrase “according to regulations and the UCMJ”. . .meaning, IAW lawful orders. You are not permitted to follow unlawful orders, you are expected and required to refuse unlawful orders AND report the violator issuing such an order. If you follow an unlawful order YOU will face Courts Martial for your actions. The I-was-only-following-orders defense is not a defense.

“Armed US civilians: 100 million
Armed US military personnel: 1.5 million
You figure the odds...”

While figuring those odds, remember that of the 100 million civilians, there are many more than the 1.5 million current military who have been in the military and are well trained. There are retired Generals who will be on the side of ‘we the people’ to quickly put together serious oposition forces to those breeding tyrrany on the part of the govt. Obama et al will be high-tailing it out of the country, if they survive long enough to do that. And I doubt that AFOne would clear US airspace...

Excellent point, and many, many of them are speaking up against the ongoing tyranny in Washington. I have to believe that they (and we) are scaring the bejeezus out of the little tyrants.

Military follows orders. Until proven otherwise.

That said, the smart thing with this worst case scenario is for us to keep our eyes and ears open and our mouths shut.

Sorry to differ with you, but that was a very different era, with a very different populace. The dynamics of that one police action also can't be reasonably compared to the near explosive tensions between the federal gov't and the whole of the American people today.

Sure, the Bonus Army had every right to make the demands they made on the federal government, and yes, they were treated as brutally as any similar group in a third world dictatorship would have been, but compared to today's situation, it's apples and oranges.

Today's tensions involve every person in the country. Very few are of a neutral opinion on what's happening in our country. Americans are as polarized and divided as they were prior to the Civil War, and don't think our folks in uniform are any different. They're not mindless, unthinking robots who'll carry out whatever orders come down from on high.

They're in this thing too, and most will side with their brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, and neighbors, if push comes to shove.

“I have to believe that they (and we) are scaring the bejeezus out of the little tyrants.”

Absolutely correct. I was trained 53 years ago. MY son, Marines (8 yrs active), now deputy sheriff, thinks like ‘we’ do and is on our side. He says the majority of active special ops military are with ‘us’. It will not take long for Red State governors to side their National Guard with ‘us’. Valerie ‘the Evil One’ Jarrett, Janet Nappy, Eric the Red (as in Commie Red), Blue State pols and the White Hut crowd will be on the run before the SHTF...and they won’t know what hit ‘em.

I ain’t so swift anymore, but they will wish they hadn’t if the come here. We have our own little part to play, and we mean to play it.
