Then there’s the sad part.

Another couple years of The Usurper gutting our military and we’ll be the little twerp facing off against one or more Communist Giants.

KJU’s just playing to the home audience, he won’t do anything imho- I’ll bet the military put him up to this because he looked weak smiling too much, hanging out with Birdbrain Rodman, etc

I really don’t think Iran and NK are that far from being able to deliver a missile to the US mainland.

We might have a missile defense but blowing up incoming overhead is not what you’d call proactive, eh?

That’s my take too, that it’s all bluster, - not so sure about the military’s role though - but it seems like it’s going to end up a complete domestic public relations and international strategic disaster.

That is so obvious I wonder if there is some other angle to it.

He’s probably expecting us to allow him to save face, like we always did with his dad...

I also think it’s a mistake to take it all as a joke tho... their (hidden, rail-mounted) artillery can level Seoul in minutes, as they roll right back into their cave after each shot... and I think they have like 10,000 pieces!

Hell with the missile.

If they’ve got a suitcase nuke all they have to do to get it past the TSA is give it to a Saudi.

I don’t think a thread title like that is very funny considering the current situation.

“not so sure about the military’s role though”

I don’t think KJU has much real power, it’s all his uncle, aunt, and the Army imho

He’s just a figurehead for the most part, and the Army needs him to perpetuate the Kim ‘diety’ myth.

But of course has consolidated increasing power by killing generals who look at him the wrong way

Honestly, this is my greatest worry... for us and Israel, the mini-nuke.

With the SW border wide open, it’s not like they couldn’t get it in any number of ways, yikes

Living in Asia I’m familiar with how important it is for political leaders here to have the military on their side to stay in power or get things done - but not running off at the mouth! That’s something anyone can do.

The military is also not all powerful in that if the leader loses face, they do too. Until they are ready to take over themselves, anyway, and I don’t think that is in the cards for NK - not with that personality cult. Not impossible though - “nasty imperialists” could assassinate him.

The other thing is, the military brass must realize that in the event of an actual war, the first thing to be taken out will be C&C, meaning them.

I have a feeling there may be some unusual earthquake activity in North Korea soon.

Someone may be playing HAARP strings.....
Its been awfully quiet in the Alaska skies lately, usually I hear all sorts of aircraft overhead but the last couple of days nada, zilch and zip. No Air Force jets especially from the nearby base.

VERY informative, sir

I don’t think the Norks want a war, their ruling class live well and they can’t ‘win’ any kind of war there... a tie with both countries scorched flat would be the BEST they could hope for.

Astute observations... and interesting that Peter King was talking preemption yesterday

It’s hard to imagine Un being stupid enough to start a war with us. But..

Something to think about.
Our ‘leader’ will be very reluctant to strike back and when he does it will be a measured response. IOW chickensh__.
Also, with S.Korea only a few miles away some restraint will be a must.

IMO we would use nukes as an absolute last resort, even if Un used one first.
And with his military in hardened caves conventional weapons may be ineffective.

I dont think our Defense Dept is “paying so little attention”

The US has moved B-2, B-52, F-22, Patriot missiles, battleships and support...

This is not being taken lightly...

Intersting Peter King was talking preemption in NK just yesterday... I think the US would strike any Nork ICBM on the pad if necessary, the sites are heavily defended but cruise missiles and B2s ought to be able to pull it off
