46,455 Background Checks For Gun Purchases Each Day Under Obama

It would be ironic if we were able to repeal Obama’s entire legacy other than the extra 72 million guns. That would leave Obama with a net positive effect on America despite his intentions.

One has to wonder how many criminals slipped through due to shoddy record-keeping.

We can’t keep track of student visas, we can’t track a foreigner on the watch list when he flew to Russia, we can’t track 2500 firearms lost in Mexico, etc, etc, etc.

Expanding failure is just more failure.

It's worse than that. The two handguns I've purchased in the last year didn't include a NICS background check because in my state a CPL can be substituted for a background check.

Worse than that, all handgun sales (until the law was repealed last December) in my state required the purchaser who didn't have a CPL to obtain a Pistol Purchase Permit from their local police, and that substituted for a NICS check on hangun sales.

So until last December, no handgun sales in Michigan when through NICS, and therefore weren't counted by the FBI.

Actually, there is a lot more than 72,000,000 that have bought guns. There ARE states like mine where if you have a CCW license, you need only fill out a Form 4473 to record the purchase, the NICS check is waved.

For example, since the Oresident has been office, I’ve bought at lease 10 guns of one sort or another.

How many purchased multiple guns with 1 BG check? I know I have multiple times in the past 4 years.

A 50 man platoon is being armed every 90 seconds.

A 6,000 man brigade is being armed every 3 hours.

A 20,000 man division is being armed every 10 hours.

A full 200,000 man army is being armed every 4 days.

At its peak in 1945, the U.S. Army had 8.2 million men. To arm all of them at the current rate of retail gun sales, it would take less than 6 months.

We are now entering year 5.

There are also a whole lot of multiple purchases in which one background check covers multiple weapons. We have the hardware to defend our country. I just hope we have the character to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Twenty-nine percent of registered voters think that an armed revolution might be necessary in the next few years in order to protect liberties, according to a Public Mind poll by Fairleigh Dickinson University.

The poll, which surveyed 863 registered voters and had a margin of error of +/-3.4, focused on both gun control and the possibility of a need for an armed revolution in the United States to protect liberty.

The survey asked whether respondents agreed, disagreed, neither agreed nor disagreed or did not know or refused to respond to the statement: “In the next few years, an armed revolution might be necessary in order to protect our liberties”

Twenty-nine percent said they agreed, 47 percent said they disagreed, 18 percent said they neither agreed nor disagreed, 5 percent said they were unsure, and 1 percent refused to respond.

Results of the poll show that those who believe a revolution might be necessary differ greatly along party lines:
• 18 percent of Democrats
• 27 percent of Independents
• 44 percent of Republicans

The poll found that 38 percent of Americans who believe a revolution might be necessary support additional gun control legislation compared to 62 percent of those who don’t think an armed revolt will be needed.

Dan Cassino, a professor of political science at Fairleigh Dickinson and analyst for the poll, says:

“The differences in views of gun legislation are really a function of differences in what people believe guns are for. If you truly believe an armed revolution is possible in the near future, you need weapons and you’re going to be wary about government efforts to take them away.”

The poll was conducted nationally between April 22 and April 28

Nice breakdown. I involuntarily laughed when I read the headline. This is exactly why I don't worry about 'the American people being disarmed.' Can you possibly imagine 46k door to door confiscations per day happening? And those would just account for new acquisitions of guns.

If they could find the manpower and if Congress would approve the Trillions of dollars to fund the confiscation teams (not accounting for any resistance at all) it would take several centuries to get ahead of new purchases and start reducing the number of arms owned.
