On April 18, 2012, the BNA released the first batch of thousands of “lost” colonial-era files believed to have been destroyed, including files on Britain’s former colony of Kenya. Reporters at the UK’s The Guardian were among the first who looked at some of the newly released colonial files. They found that the name of Barack Obama (henceforth, Obama Sr.), the father of the POS in the White House, is on the top of a list of names revealed in a hitherto secret British colonial file of Kenyans studying in the United States.

From memory, both Elizabeth and Frank Laubach were in Kenya in 1958 when the kenyan started working for her as her secretary. She was instrumental in providing the funds for his flight to New York in August 1959, and his initial sponsor is shown as the Laubach Literacy Fund, as is Frank Laubach himself as a nearest contact in the US.
Frank Laubach spent something like 15 years as a missionary in the Philippines...

At first interview in Hawaii in September, the kenyan stated he only had enough funds for one or two semesters and needed to find work and a sponsor.

Elizabeth apparently provided funds from her own resources for his living expenses, but that stopped...when she advised him he should contact the AASF (African American Students Foundation) as she was now married (Kirk) and could no longer assist him financially.

True or not? If he did contact the AASF that would have brought him to the attention of Cora Weiss, who would not have known who or where he was, as he wasn’t connected in any way to the AIRLIFT, a fact which Cora Weiss has been forced to admit...recently:

“The first plane was paid for because Harry Belafonte, Jackie Robinson and Sidney Poitier, together signed a fundraising letter,” Mrs. Weiss said.

“In that first group of 1959, 81 students came.”

“Barack Obama missed out on a seat on that first plane. Luckily the two teachers stepped in and raised money for him to come over on a parallel flight,” she said.

“He picked up the scholarship from the University of Hawaii. And while he was there, he needed money for books and tuition and clothes, some of which we sent him.

“So he wasn’t on the airlift, but he was a member of the airlift family.”

http://www.mvgazette.com/news/2009/08/27/unlikely-events-recall-story-president

How-ever, if Cora did make funds available to him from the foundation, he must have ‘forgotten’ to acknowledge it, because he doesn’t, throughout his entire period in the US, show the AASF as a sponsor. He shows The Stokes-Phelps Fund which might have had some connection to the AASF, but that sponsor isn’t noted until he’s already at Harvard.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/54015762/Barack-Hussein-Obama-Sr-Immigration-File

Cora Weiss insists and insists that the AASF supported the kenyan, but although she says ‘I can show you check-butts’ and waves her hands around in the air very convincingly, there has never been any confirmation that he was a beneficiary of the AASF.

http://blip.tv/africana-librarians-council-/the-kenya-airlift-1959-1963-unearthing-africana-collections-and-providing-global-access-part-2-3579698

If you look at the INS docs you’ll find he worked for the pine-apple cannery The Dole Corp for one month. So other than the Laubach/Elizabeth Mooney-Kirk contribution and some casual work (washing dishes in a cafe?) that was all he had to live on in Hawaii, and as his associates stated in tribute letters, he lived in a small room with one hotplate for cooking, ‘rather like a hermit’ .

The INS docs show his forwarding address after he left Hawaii as - THE KOINONIA FOUNDATION in Baltimore,Maryland. Both Frank Laubach and Elizabeth were on the board of that foundation:

And to get back to your question...another American mother...who knows, it’s like the man said, I came here to drain the swamp, not kill the crocodiles, LOL....

I can't answer your questions, I don't know why there's a five year gap. It's always been there. Maybe it's because we don't know enough about the period between 1954 and 1959 other than what we have been spoon-fed.

I doubt there's much to be learned from trying to fix a chronology to events, it was patently obvious in 2008 that the reason 'Dreams' has no chronology is so that the protagonists could not be followed. You'll learn more from the mistakes and omissions if you look for them - no lies are ever perfect, and they do make mistakes.

As for the record of airline arrivals in the period from July 1961 up to the end of June, 1962, one needs to remember that the younger brother Omar, who was introduced in 'Dreams' as the one who 'went away and got lost' attended a private high school in Boston CLASS OF 1966, and if that was a four year high school, he would have arrived in that period shown, which means he and the kenyan both arrived in Boston in the summer of 1962 and it is recorded, they shared accommodation.

170 Magazine Street, Cambridge.

Articles about Omar Obama, or Obama Onyango as he now calls himself, state his commencement as 1963, but I have my doubts...Class of 1966 commences in 1962 by my calculations.

It seems to make sense that the brothers would arrive in Boston at the same time, doesn't it?

“...The only African student at the school, Obama stood out in a number of other respects. Not only was he three years older than most of the boys in the sophomore class, his arch colonial accent immediately marked him as different. That he initially lived with his brother in a rented apartment in Cambridge, a place often churning with visiting Kenyan students, added to his exoticism. But within a few weeks the normally reserved Obama had made a large number of close friends, many of whom remember his sunny disposition nearly half a century later...

One of seven children born to the president’s grandfather, Hussein Onyango, Omar Obama arrived in the United States with the help of his half-brother Barack, who was working toward his doctorate in economics at Harvard University and paid $300 towards his traveling expenses. Omar was directed to Browne & Nichols, a prestigious private boys school, by Ellen Frost, a friend of the elder Barack’s whose father was the preparatory school’s treasurer. Frost recalls the 19-year-old Omar on his arrival in Cambridge as, “a happy, bubbly outgoing boy. He loved to tell stories about lions and the wild animals of his youth. I don’t know if they were true, but the other boys were completely fascinated by him; he was so completely different from everyone else at the school.’’ The only African student at the school, Obama stood out in a number of other respects. Not only was he three years older than most of the boys in the sophomore class, his arch colonial accent immediately marked him as different. That he initially lived with his brother in a rented apartment in Cambridge, a place often churning with visiting Kenyan students, added to his exoticism. But within a few weeks the normally reserved Obama had made a large number of close friends, many of whom remember his sunny disposition nearly half a century later. “Omar was great, friendly and very open,’’ recalled classmate Robert Krim, an assistant professor of management at Clark University in Worcester. “This was a time of civil rights and I was a white kid from Newton. So here comes Omar, black and African. I found this fellow completely exciting. It was as though he dropped in from somewhere completely different, which I guess he had.’’ Nonetheless, Obama seemed to fit right in. He joined the debate and newspaper clubs. He posed for class photographs of the Class of 1966 in his crisp white shirt and tweed blazer. And when the varsity soccer team headed to the field, with Obama as its lead striker, many on campus flocked to watch him.

Pay particular attention to this statement by Cora Weiss:

“Barack Obama missed out on a seat on that first plane. Luckily the two teachers stepped in and raised money for him to come over on a parallel flight,” she said.

PARALLEL FLIGHT? The next airlift contingent arrived in September 1960, ONE YEAR LATER.

Again, I am often amazed at your ability to ferret out information such as this.

It's fascinating to ferret out the little lies which abound in their thousands throughout the entire chaotic story, like a stone thrown into the smooth water of a pond, the first impact spreads in ever-widening circles across the entire surface...

You’re welcome.

There is a link in the website where one can request research be done, hopefully the cost for that is less than a plane ticket, lodging, and rental car.

Interesting, obviously the goal is to identify the mysterious listing for a child born in 1961 with the surname Obama, and find out who his parents were.
What are the chances?
And would privacy laws such as to which you are accustomed in the US, not apply to births in Kenya in 1961, also?

A listing on an Index in the UK archives for an Obama birth for the period 1960-1964 such as exists at the library in Hawaii, will not show the name of the parents, nor an actual birthdate...

How-ever, I think this avenue should be pursued to its conclusion, and if the fee is reasonable, which I image it would be, I would be happy to contribute.

What needs to be asked also, is...could a citizen of Kenya parent, such as Barack Hussein Obama (Onyango) having become a father in a foreign country, be able to register that birth in Kenya, by perhaps sending a relative to the registrar of Births etc.

Fred,

Somewhere in my memory is the usage of “commencement” in conjunction with high school graduation, I.e. “commencement ceremony”, rather than usage having to do with “beginning” school.

Would this help the timeline; that article mentions omar being three years older than the rest of the classmates.

Snippet from your post for reference:

“....Articles about Omar Obama, or Obama Onyango as he now calls himself, state his commencement as 1963, but I have my doubts...Class of 1966 commences in 1962 by my calculations......”

If the commencement was in 1963, then he would have started in 1959, using the “commencement” to mean graduation.

Math is wrong in the above two posts; use 1962 as the starting point and “three years older than sophomore” means Omar was 21 when he finished high school.

...means Omar was 21 when he finished high school.

And three years older than his classmates, who would have been 18, right?

Class of 1966 means 1966 graduation, four years of high school for Class of 1966 means 1962 commencement. So if he had attended for four years, he would have arrived in the summer of 1962.

One does need to read between the lines, we are being lied to up and down and inside out; telling us he arrived in 1963 eliminates the question, where did he get the money from, or make the contacts, that would provide his brother with airfare, living expenses and tuition at a private school. The lie just might give the kenyan student time to arrive in Cambridge, settle in, make some contacts and find a sponsor for his brother.

Problem with Cora isn't only that she's a communist, she has all the records under her control and if you want to see them it's by appointment.

Try a little imagination; the kenyan student and his brother Omar, photographed together. When might that have been taken? They both look older than they might have been in 1964 when the kenyan student departed from Boston - and Omar also seems more than 19 years old, as he would have been in 1964...so it would seem, as Omar never showed up again in the village in Kenya, and the family described him as 'lost' - The photograph dates from the kenyan's visit to the US in 1970-71 and is of the same period as when you see him with zero at the airport in Hawaii.

The result? Omar wasn't lost. They all knew where he was. And when she was old enough, Zeituni also went to Boston. And that's why, when Zeituni was found, they also found Omar.
