Speaking of McCleans... have you ever heard of Wilmer McClean?
He was a grocer in VA. The first major battle of the Civil War saw a cannon ball descend the chimney of his house on his farm. He and his family left the farm for safer climes. He bought a little place in Appomattox. His front room hosted a meeting between the generals, or so the legend goes in the oft mentioned, and mostly true claim that the Civil War started and ended on the same man’s property.
