The NSA—America’s new Secret Police

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. – Benjamin Franklin

Last February Maxine Waters in an interview stated “The President has put in place an organization with the kind of database that no one has ever seen before in life,” She continued to reveal “That database will have information about everything on every individual on ways that it’s never been done before”. This week Americans were surprised to learn that the National Security Agency (NSA) has been collecting phone call information of American Verizon customers. Like all of the recent Obama Administration scandals, this story wasn’t released by the American media but by the British Press.

PRISM

“PRISM” is a corporate partnership between the FBI, NSA and several large Internet providers to collect any and all electronic communications, including those between Americans. In accordance with federal law, American internet companies are required to provide user information to government and law enforcement officials upon request. PRISM is a back door to allow the NSA and FBI direct access to commercial servers at any time with the “assistance of communications providers in the US”.

The only documents that is truly secure in this Administration is the President's Collage Transcript.

If you add this with the scandalous actions of the EPA, IRS, DOJ, Health Department and Homeland Security you have a mosaic of events. Like all mosaics you have to step back to see the "Big Picture". The Picture presented by the Obama Administration is Tyranny with a large dose of Fascism.

Liberals, like insects stuck on Flypaper cannot see the whole mosaic and through their own willful ignorance dismiss anything that condemns the glue on the flypaper.

All these government ABC groups need to be shut down. They are nothing more than weapons being used against innocent Americans. From education to energy to the NSA. We need to root out terrorists in the mosques and neighborhoods where we know they are hibernating. It’s the only thing that works. Warnings from other countries or meddling in phone records and emails doesn’t seem to be doing the trick. We know where they hide. It is time to seek them out the right way, which means tried and true methods we know will work.

Why did Maxine know about this, and no one else?

Answer: A lot more did know about it, but smart enough to keep their mouths shut! Loose lips sink liberal/Marxist ships.

Someone needs to find out who else knew about the Obama Administration's spying on US citizens, and kept their mouths shut. Conspiracy to violate Civil Rights?

This is the mistake of forming all kinds of government departments like the EPA, etc. Government takes on a life of its own and is run by unaccountable, unelected bureaucrats.

It has an inertia that is unaffected no matter who is put into office or Congress.

Some serious cutting and dismantling needs to be done if we are ever going to regain control of this leviathan again.

The concept of Big Data, the incredible speeds with which it can be amassed and searched, and the sophistication of its associated analytic tools are mindboggling. Most people simply cannot comprehend data management on this scale.

#NSACalledToTellMe to tell me they had copies of my birth certificate, my college transcripts, and the report on the incident from my permanent record where I was sent to the principle’s office for being rowdy in the 4th grade.

No, Maxine is a tool to politely warn us where they are going, just like she did with the energy industry.

They are in our face, daring us to respond, we will not, not in the way they want us too.

Maybe I am wrong, but something in my gut tells me they will fail in trying to control us, this will not stand, they will collapse of their own arrogance....

*********
Imagine yourself as a agency bureaucrat with 20 years invested in your career, a cushy lifestyle that requires a certain income, and a generous retirement package awaiting you. Imagine too that you are surrounded by like minded people with a common interst in protecting and perpetuating the system you work under. Inevitably YOUR personal interests are going to override any other consideration (i.e., you’ll do whatever it takes to keep your job, and the more secure it is the better).

You hit on a great point. Government departments take on a life of their own and are run by unnaccoutable bureaucrats. If Congress would do its oversight job and deal harshly with malfeasance, there would be a different attitude in government.

You think? I am confident that today, millions of Americans are thinking twice about what they say, who they say it to, what they purchase and where they go. Electronic communications are being reconsidered. Conservative groups have been all but vanquished. Which is precisely why this is all being leaked, a warning. Lets just say that some think the time is now to resist, they would be shut down in an instant. Personally, I think America is done.

Former STASI must be salivating at the thought of what they could have done using current technology!

There used to be a time - long long ago pre Patriot Act - when the NSA was prohibited by statute from collecting or analyzing domestic traffic. Boy have we come a long way toward the left's goal of ultimate tyranny.

When is America going to turn off the bread and circuses and start to march on the District of Corruption?

IMHO NEVER.

The East Germans had the Stasi, and it was a highly regarded organization, even working with the primitive equipment (by today’s standards) they were limited to.

Because of the nature of communications back in the latter third of the 20th Century, telephone taps and direct human intelligence were employed to a much greater degree than they now are. It is possible, even with the vastly increased number of communications devices and means, to gain a statistical advantage just in terms of measuring the volume and direction of traffic, and only occasionally determining the actual content.

Or maybe I have just been watching too much of “Person of Interest”, seeing how John and Harold monitor and act upon the information the Machine collects.

It was President Reagan who put those regulations in place. They were weaken during the previous Administration and totally ignored by the current.

Americans still live with the illusion that this is a free country, and that we can trust our government. Fascism is for other people.

Big illusion.

Bingo. They have already accomplished part of their goal. Shut down free speech and freedom of association through intimidation.

On another topic, it is highly likely that many people who worked on this project had no idea what they were building, why, or for whom. They got a little piece of the puzzle. Others may have been pre-screened for loyalty.
