Well, the truth is that humanity and technology have been in a death/rat race for 15,000 years, starting with the division of labor and organized farming, which allowed populations to grow. I’ve often wondered in technology was the “apple” in the Book of Genesis. Even with conservation, we HOPE that technology (practical fusion power, erraforming, and so on) will be invented/perfected in the next 100 years...so far, we have stayed one step ahead of the game...if you have faith in humanity, you don’t worry about it, and if you don’t, then you worry about it. But humanity has a fairly good track record.
