NYPD states that after reviewing its reports on Officers death involving shootouts. NYPD clearly understands sight shooting isn't required in close quarter shooting. In other words, all you have to do is instinctively point and shoot and you'll hit your target at 10 feet or less.
So why did it take NYPD so long to figure this out? Were they just waiting to tally up the scores between cop vs bad guy before they make a decision to make the change.
Money was being spent x amount of dollars per year on useless gun program that are suppose to be design to save lives of officers and the public?
Read the rest of NYPD handgun program here.
I have a light on the front of my 9mm. It illuminates about 1.5-2 feet on the far wall of the bedroom. Bullets go into the middle of the light.
I intend to light up the bad guy, and with a proper grip, pull the trigger each time I see him until the first magazine is empty.
Then I’ll reload, and re-do until he stops being a threat.
That’s my theory. Please correct me if I’m way off base.
The civilian CQB market - and I use that term advisedly - has known this for some time, which is why the NYPD is bringing in the consultants. You fight how you train. Train hard, fight hard. Show up only once a quarter for quals and you get what you pay for.
It could be the Glock New York Trigger.
By the end of the four day combat handgun course, all of us could put two aimed shots on the target from concealment in 1.5 seconds. Dry practice once a week at getting the weapon on target quickly is cheap and easy training.
Save a few rounds in case Mr. bad guy has a buddy.
