A new video shows Lois Lerner talking about the pressure being brought to bear on the IRS to halt GOP money going into the 2010 election:
Newly uncovered video shows Lois Lerner discussing the political pressure that swirled around the IRS in 2010. Lerner says "everyone" was "screaming at" the IRS to stop the flood of money pouring into the 2010 elections through 501(c)(4) groups as a result of Citizens United.Lerner spoke to a small group at Duke's Sanford School of Public Policy on October 19, 2010, just two weeks before the wave election that brought the Tea Party and Republicans significant gains in Congress. During her appearance Lerner was asked about the flow of money from corporations to 501(c)(4) groups. "Everyone is up in arms because they don't like it" Lerner replied, adding "Federal Election Commission can't do anything about it; they want the IRS to fix the problem."
Lerner goes on to outline the fact that 501(c)(4) organizations have the right to do "an ad that says vote for Joe Blow" so long as their primary activity is social welfare. However Lerner again emphasizes the political pressure the IRS was under at the time saying, "So everybody is screaming at us right now 'Fix it now before the election. Can't you see how much these people are spending?'" Lerner concludes by saying she won't know if organizations have gone too far in campaigning until she looks at their "990s next year."

So Lerner put a roadblock in front of all Tea Party organizations:
More significantly, IRS data shows that 100 percent of Tea Party applications were scrutinized and that almost no applications were approved for a period of two years. Most were finally cleared in mid 2012 after a letter from Congress inquiring about the hold up finally led to a flurry of approvals.
The FBI hasn't contacted any of the targeted Tea Party groups, the Director of the FBI doesn't know who's in charge and the IRS has stopped cooperating.

Issa needs to grant Lois Slow Lerner (that IS her legal middle name!) immunity and threaten the bitch with JAIL if she refuses to appear and spill her guts!!

With respect, I am not for giving this bitch immunity under any flavor of circumstance. I am against this because I know what liars Obama, Holder and the rest of his ilk are.
With immunity, she’ll end up claiming it was her and only her who did this. Obama and crew will be exonerated and we won’t even be able to put her in prison.
Jail time, real unconditional jail time is the only thing that will force her to tell the truth. It is the only way to implicate Obama, Holder and the rest of the traitors.

I used to get excited when I saw Issa was going to kick someones ass. Now I see he is in the same category as the worthless Larry Klayman. Nothing but a grandstanding blowhard with no results, EVER.

Stripped of all the BS, Obama, and his flying monkeys with their win-at-any-cost mentality ordered the opposition's Constitutional rights to be violated as much as necessary to win. Whatever it took.
The political whore, Lerner, went along enthusiastically with no thought of the potential consequences. There are always consequences.
Character, mature behavior, morality and ethics played no role in the matter.
It might go nowhere, but watching the cockroaches run and squirm would be worth the effort.
I might be wrong NOT being in the know (NOT a lawyer), but seems to me when SCOTUS declared that Congress’s special prosecuter activity was unconstitutional from then on the Congress could only expose the crimes, the mischief, which Issa is doing. It’s up to the A.G. as far as I know to actually persue the crime, actually do something about it, and we ALL know what this A.G. is NOT going to do.
Perhaps a legal FREEPER person could expound on that concept.
the old saying that there are three types of people; those who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who wonder what happened. Currently we the people of the United States are in the second of those groups and if WE THE PEOPLE don't move to group one we will most definitely end up in group three and in shorter order than anyone realizes.

I believe the Supreme Court found the Special Prosecutor Law to be constitutional, but when it was initially enacted, it had a time limit included. Congress did not enact an extension and it was allowed to expire around 1999. Your contention that the only power Congress has is to expose the crimes is accurate. About the only thing the House could do differently is to form a Select Committee with subpoena power and investigative staff but that would take months to hire staff and get up to speed. Even then, if criminal acts were found, they would have to be referred to the Justice Department for prosecution. Justice Department = Holder = Oboma.
And Lerner continues to draw a paycheck.
