Sarah Palin: I'm On Team Rand Paul
realclearpolitics.com ^ | August 10, 2013

Posted on 08/11/2013 4:48:15 AM PDT by BarnacleCenturion

When asked about the rift between Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) and Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ) on FOX News this morning, Sarah Palin said she is on "Team Rand." Palin said, "he gets the whole notion of 'Don’t Tread on Me' government, whereas Chris Christie is for big government."

So far is shortcomings are far outweighed by the disaster which is the GOP and the zombie government that’s stumbling along out of control.

I’m not thrilled with Rand Paul, but Sarah captured exactly why I’m still leaning in his direction. Paul gets it that more government is never a good thing

Libertarianism is what is going to turn things around, it should be clear by now that conservatives alone won’t get it done.

I also am not thrilled with him, because of some statements I heard him say with regard to Amnesty, defacto Amnesty, and comprehensive immigration reform.

On the other hand, I like much of his other political views. As a result, I’m still on the fence about him, mainly because I feel that if we legalize these 30-50 million current illegals (don’t ever believes what the government tells you), we are lost as a nation and his other views won’t matter. I am more for Ted Cruz than him.

Certainly an inclusion of libertarianism. Expressing a little reluctance to go to war will go a long way. Subordination of the federal government to the states is another good campaign theme.

We are headed for a trainwreck in a junkyard and this train has got to turn around. We can’t slow it down by gently nudging the brakes, we have to slam them on as hard as we can. The farther right we can push, the harder we hit the brakes. There is no perfect candidate. We have to do what we can with what we have.

The others will likely be Rubio, Santorum and Jeb Bush. I doubt Cruz will jump in and risk splitting the vote.

It seems that he has already endorsed as well:

Don’t know about the splitting the vote part. But, agree that Cruz will probably not run this go around. He’s a young man. So, time is on his side. Regardless though, I going with whoever Cruz supports for sure.

I will never again vote for a Senator to become President. Senators are legislators. Presidents are administrators. Two entirely different skill sets. Rand Paul needs to get himself elected and serve a term as Governor of KY. Then run for President. I’ll vote for him then.

I don't see it as such, but more as siding with a particular political philosophical base, aka more libertarianism that big-guberment and maybe even Christie's Blow-Hardeness, if their is such a word. I don't know about you, but I am so over him and his Bobby Bachala turned Politican Styck, retire already to Boca Raton and grow prize rose bushes or something, just get off the stage.

I suspect the field will be more crowded than that. But it also raised an interesting question. If Palin has announced that she is on "Team Rand" then does that mean there is no way she's going to run herself?

Folks, this is NOT an endorsement of Rand Paul for President.

All she did was pick sides between Rand Paul and Chris Christie.

And their divergent philosophies.

That’s all, folks.

I can’t believe I’m needing to point this out.

No, it means only one thing. As between the philosophies of Christie and Paul, she’s with Paul. To conclude ANYTHING else, as the poster of this thread and other comments did - such as “nice early endorsement” - is to take out of context a few words so as to distort the point she was making.

Christie equals bigger government.

Paul equals smaller government.

Remember, she was asked to comment on the feud.

Context is EVERYTHING.

I don’t agree 100 percent with Rand, but he is distancing himself from business as usual politics and big government Republicans in most cases.

I’m willing to listen to him, Cruz, Palin and in the talk media Glenn Beck.

Beyond that I think they all smell more, but I still listen to them to read between the lines about what they are saying.

Paul had written a letter in 1987 stating Paul would quit the Republican Party due to the policies of Reagan.

Ronald Reagan Was No Libertarian

And despite the false claims of libertarians, he was a fiscal conservative too. He was just pragmatic as well.

I am in the same boat. My hope is that without such welfare as we have now, the illegal invaders will a) not have such incentive to break-in and b) won't cost nearly as much if they do break in.

At least that's my hope.

Right now, “conservatives” can't agree with one another on a candidate that is strong enough to dethrone the demodummies. The demodummies have conservatives on the run and have a long head start towards who will represent them in 2016. IMO, conservatives need to DUMP every one of the old “Republican Guard” and start thinking about saving this country.

One is a hit piece on Reagan saying he failed to deliver on his promises. Reagan himself said he was a libertarian many times. It’s in his letters and in the video I posted.

Your other article is about Ron Paul, not Rand.

We actually NEED TO CONSOLIDATE behind a good candidate early. We don’t want another 2012 where the conservatives & Tea Partiers split between lots of candidates, allowing Romney to take the GOP-e vote & win the primaries.

There may be issues with Rand, but he’s far & away my favorite at this point. I want him to appoint Ted Cruz to the Supreme Court. Cruz would do a great job there.

Compromise does shi!.That is all we have been doing. America is finished for many years. We will riot this Country into a third world status when the economy crashes and the half of America that is on the take get pitched under the bus.
