Mark Levin's The Liberty Amendments

The Third American Revolution has begun.

Mark Levin’s The Liberty Amendments: Restoring the American Republic is the revolutionary blueprint millions of Americans have been waiting for. Released today, Levin leads the charge for “restoring constitutional republicanism and preserving the civil society from the growing authoritarianism of a federal Leviathan.”

Carefully and powerfully written, the book uses the Constitution itself to illustrate how to reform the Constitution itself. To finally turn the tables on progressives and liberals — Statists, to use the term Levin has brought back to life — who have spent the last century slowly and not so slowly transforming America into the aforementioned “federal Leviathan.”

Levin knows his subject. The nationally syndicated talk-radio host is also the lawyer heading the Landmark Legal Foundation, and, among his string of credentials a former chief of staff to Reagan Attorney General Edwin Meese III. Levin also has three earlier best sellers that have set the stage for The Liberty Amendments: Men in Black: How the Supreme Court is Destroying America, in which Levin examined the role of judicial activism and the subversion of democracy in favor of the liberal agenda (hint: think slavery, segregation, abortion, the importation of laws from other countries, the role of a Klan member in erecting the so-called “separation of church and state). Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto in which Levin detailed the “modern liberal assault on Constitution-based values…that has steadily snowballed” since FDR’s New Deal. And Ameritopia: The Unmaking of America. In which Levin reveals the role of the liberal ideal of utopia, the never-never land of human perfection that is always possible with just one more use… just one more… always just one more use… of power.

One cell of Mark Levin’s brain contains more intellectual firepower than the Obamadork and his entire West Wing Clown Show of Felon/Cretins.

CW-II, coming soon to a liberal town near you.

Mark has encapsulated a number of "reforms" (I hate that word) that I think are necessary. In terms of reining in the bureaucracy, I have proposed that ALL senators and congressmen are permitted no more than two full-time staffers, and office space pursuant thereof. This would dramatically limit the mischief these idiots can get into, make them answer their own damn phones or talk to their own constituents, and have little time to create new, burdensome legislation.

I would repeal the witholding of federal income tax. All taxes must be paid by quarterly checks if desired, or as Levin suggests, on the day before federal elections.

I would create a constitutional amendment to prohibit anyone who has served in national public office OR THEIR IMMEDIATE FAMILIES from working in radio, television, or print media.

I would prohibit any who have worked in any staff position for the executive or legislative branch from accepting any job in any media outlet.

Congress is prohibited from "zero-based" budgeting (but this one I have trouble figuring out how to enforce).

Deficit spending should be illegal except during time of war as declared by Congress.

I need to send a copy to both my state rep and senator.

Why? They don't even read the bills they vote into law, so what makes you think they would read a book?

I wonder how many of them are actually literate. We know from experience that many of them are on the verge of 'stupid', which, sadly, according to Ron White, can't be fixed.

:)

My apprehension with any kind of constitutional convention or amendments with this current batch of politicians (all levels) and opportunists (those who derive most of of their income from the FED teat) would allow progressives/libs/moderates to take control. Thus, the resulting changes could be disastrous.

I won’t call them loopholes but there are things either in the constitution or missing from the constitution that allow liberals to exploit and expand power along with the size of government. Even small commonsense changes like requiring a balanced budget, tax day/election day back to back, term limits, mandatory sunset requirements for laws or agencies could have a huge impact! I cant wait for his book to arrive. I even ordered a spare signed copy from Premier Collectables..

I’ll be publishing a book of my own by the end of the year. Educating the people will lead to the restoration of liberty.

Thus, the resulting changes could be disastrous. I hear you, but Mark has spoken at length about this and it should not be a concern at all. This a not a convention where you open up the constitution for a bunch of liberal swine to change it, its simply states proposing amendments which in turn must be ratified by 3/4 of the states. I'm not sure how many states we have on our side at this time. This year my state, NC is full republican for the first time since reconstruction.

Yes, but there are always those unintended consequences and they can bite.

You can bet lawyers would be all over any such actions, looking for loopholes and such. That is what lawyers do — they write documents/laws in such a way that those documents/laws are open to interpretations. They create their own job security.

Terrible idea, IMHO, not having read the book (but having listened to ML pitch it.)

I think it would be hijacked by ACORN type activists, with the MSM beating the drum. The amendments we would wind up with would not be Mark’s, but amendments like “Freedom From Gun Violence” and “Fair Housing For All.”

This kind of a “Con-Con” is described here in my third novel, Foreign Enemies and Traitors.

A Con-Con scarres me too. But the fact remains that any amendments the people want will not get through the Congress. That leaves it up to the people through the states to act.

I like the idea of any amendment requiring 2/3 approval to get through the convention. And then the usual 3/4 to be ratified as part of the Constitution.

It’s time for the people, through their legislatures, to bypass the Congress. We know a repeal of the 17th amendment would never get through the senate.

“Good Luck and I hope that you sell a million!”

Thanks. I hope so too, not necessarily for me but for the people’s sake. My book is a very short but succinct work defining and describing republican government using mostly the writings of John Adams. It’s going to be short and cheap and so it can be easily read and understood and spread, similar to Thomas Paine’s Common Sense or Goldwater’s the Conscience of a Conservative.
