It seems that not only is Justice blind in Washington, D.C., but she's been kicked out of town altogether. On Saturday, it was reported that Cindy Thomas just got a big promotion. If you don't know who Cindy Thomas is, she was the IRS official in charge of the exempt organizations office in Cincinnati. This was one of the IRS groups who targeted conservative tea party groups for harassment and intimidation. They also illegally leaked confidential tax information to other agencies and liberal groups.
Cindy Thomas is a 35 year veteran of the IRS (bet her pension plan is rocking!) and she was promoted to the senior technical adviser team for the Director of Exempt Organizations. (What is it about government with their endless sub-groups with long-winded names?) Apparently, the previous adviser, Sharon Light, left the IRS to join the American Cancer Society. Light used to be a close confidant to Lois Lerner, the IRS official who appears to have broken the law and who pleaded the Fifth Amendment before Congress.
The acting director of the IRS exempt organizations division, Kenneth Corbin, says, “Cindy brings a strong background in EO Determinations and the history of the organization. And, since she is located in Cincinnati, she will provide a voice for the process and challenges faced in determinations work.”
Yeah. Using the power of the federal government to stifle free speech and stifle the freedoms of political opponents is a great resume builder in the Obama administration. Only in government (and Hollywood) is getting caught doing something wrong and illegal get you promoted to a cushier job. Too bad us working saps in the real world don't get the same treatment. If you or I broke the law, we actually go to jail, not get bumped to upper management. This entire boondoggle just continues to show how accountability and the rule of law has totally disappeared from the government juggernaut. It's open season on the Constitution and all patriots as the progressive liberals have gotten totally drunk on power. They're not even bothering to hide their wrongdoing any more. Gird yourselves for an onslaught of anti-Tea Party reporting from the media as they'll work overtime to parrot Obama's talking points. We cannot afford to let Obama have a compliant House of Representatives for the last two years of his Imperial rule.
