Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., has recently compared conservative efforts to defund Obamacare to kamikaze pilots and Gen. George Custer.
Thursday, he called the effort "fraud."
"There's a wing within our party led by people like (Sen.) Ted Cruz, who have been really, as far as I'm concerned, carrying out a fraud with the people" by saying the strategy will work, King said Thursday on CNN's "The Situation Room."
Cruz, R-Texas, has been leading the defund effort along with Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah. More moderate members of the GOP say the effort will only hurt the Republican Party. They fear a government shutdown like in the 1990s when Republicans got the blame.
House Speaker John Boehner gave in to demands to tie the vote to raising the debt ceiling. That vote is set for Friday, with the bill then moving to the Senate. King says the vote can't pass in the Senate, which doesn't have enough Republican votes, and President Barack Obama would veto it anyway.
After an expected Senate vote next week, it will be time for Cruz, Paul, and Lee to "put up or shut up," King said.
"If anything good comes from all of this, when Ted Cruz and Rand Paul and Mike Lee fail in the Senate next week, maybe finally we Republicans will have ended their influence," he said. "We as House Republicans should stop letting Ted Cruz set our agenda for us. He should stay in the Senate and should keep quiet. If he can deliver on this, fine. If he can't, then he should keep quiet from now on, and we shouldn't listen to him."

peter king from ny is a traitor
This King clown is extreme RINO. Good chance he might try to run for president next time.
Peter King is just another coward. Yikes, he is sickening.
I think Cruz, Lee and the others are making a good effort here.
But listening to it being discussed as on the Five today and in a number of other places, I’m not sure if they can successfully stop ObamaCare, that’s the thing.
Heard Cruz speak today. They brought up that website again, I think “defundobamacare.com” and he said, even if you have signed it, tell 3-5 other people to go sign it as well.
It may be a bad law but once Entitlements get a foothold, it is often difficult to change them.
Bravo Sierra, King. We know your colors...and they are not conservative or in any way in keeping with our nation’s or her people’s best interests.
What’s “fraud” is the array of traitorous policy positions giving behind-the-scenes support to Obama.
Screw the entire gaggle of GOP-E quislings. They don’t represent ordinary Americans anymore.
Reliably NeoCon-ish in all ways, He is for stupid wars and stupid policies. Peter King, McCain, Crystal, Bolton, Graham, National Review and the rest of those evil puff bums need to go away.
In my best lawn guylant voice. yo King fugggedabout.
“If anything good comes from all of this, when Ted Cruz and Rand Paul and Mike Lee fail in the Senate next week, maybe finally we Republicans will have ended their influence,” he said. “
Precisely because the get-along gang on the GOP views the Tea Party as the enemy.
FUPK!!!!!!
No Peter, we’re sick of listening to RINOS like you. You and the rest of the moderate Republicans have done nothing to curb the federal government from spending us into oblivion and you’re nothing more than lackeys for the Democratic Party. Gees, is everybody in New York state out to lunch? I swear I can’t stand listening to anyone with a distinct northeastern, and especially a New York sounding accent. They’re always lecturing the rest of the country on how stupid they are but last I checked most of the states in the northeast are economic disaster areas.
Cruz hovers over the target.
Obama wants to shut down the government to keep Obamacare open.
Representative King, which side are you on?
What happened to this moron? He used to be pretty solid.
“He should stay in the Senate and should keep quiet”
Hahaha, listen to this garbage can. Our quiet days are over. We’re speaking up. You’re history, Pete!
Hey, Petey: At least Cruz has a strategy. Your only strategy seems to be to implement it.
At one time, King took a pretty strong stance against illegal immigrants from Mexico...
...they were stealing too many jobs from illegal immigrants from Ireland.
A clear, succinct rebuttal, sir.
There is an article in the WSJ, tonight, that says that the Obama administration will not have the pricing structure ready in time to open the federal insurance exchanges in the 36 states that opted not to set up the exchanges themselves.
If they have not way to price the insurance, they cannot open in two weeks. So, it is anyone’s guess what is going to happen. Maybe this is Obama’s way of getting out of the Obamacare train wreck by delaying it until after the mid-term election, while blaming Republicans for trying to kill the legislation.
The congress can fund if not fund. It’s their job to do. But king seems so wed to Obamacare that he has blinded himself to this most basic of congressional duties. Maybe he can be voted out next time.
haha yes - waiting patiently as the targets mass
So, tell me: What do we say to those conservatives who are not RINOs, people who truly believe Obamacare is a disaster that will create enormous damage, but who agree with King that this is a poor strategy that will not do anything to stop Obamacare, and who say that when one cannot win in the short term it’s better to keep ones powder dry and live to fight another day?
Are those (Cruz et al) taking the position that it’s better to go down swinging even when there is no visible means of winning?
Or, how do they think they can win, given Democrat control of the Senate?
Cruz has an amazing loiter time.
From the WSJ:
Government officials and insurers were scrambling to iron out the pricing quirks quickly, according to the people, to avoid alienating the initial wave of consumers.
A failure by consumers to sign up online in the hotly anticipated early days of the “exchanges” is worrisome to insurers, which are counting on enrollees for growth, and to the Obama administration, which made the exchanges a centerpiece of its sweeping health-care legislation.
If not resolved by the Oct. 1 launch date, the problems could affect consumers in 36 states where the federal government is running all or part of the exchanges. About 32 million uninsured people live in those states, but only a fraction of them are expected to sign up in the next year.
The remaining 14 states are running separate marketplaces with their own software. One of those states, Oregon, has already announced that it would delay some features to fix software bugs, though consumers will be able to enroll offline.
LOL so true.
Thank you representative Cruz for driving so many RINOs out into the open. Now we know who not to trust.
The American People do not want ‘Obamacare’ and these votes will put those who voted for it in the spotlight again.
I AGREE GO CRUZ!
A- Holes like Boner and King your time is up
NY King is a fraud....he pushes this National Security thing...all the while supporting the Hispanic KKK and Mexican Drug Cartels in keeping our southern border unsecured
What Cruz has done is exposing a lot of GOP as Liberal Bed-wetter PhonyCons. Liberal Bed-Wetter PhonyCons whine about ObamaCare...but when push comes to shove...they really support it
Incumbency is the single most corrupting influence in the American political system. Career politicians are not interested in principle—only survival. We need Mark Levin’s LIBERT AMENDMENTS. Only the state legislatures can clean up Washington now.
It’s time to really think about term-limits.
King's another RINO who conveniently forgets that the Tea Party put him in the majority in 2010.
Term limits are at the top of my list. Repeal of the 17th Amendment, balanced budget amendment, and cleaning up the “commerce clause” would all help too. But nothing is as important as cleaning the stench of corruption inhabiting Washington DC through term limits.
We need citizen patriots who will serve honorably, then go the back home.
They'll put up, King. So you can shut up.
Another Rep-Elite who is worried that because this was not their plan they might look bad. Of course they can’t look any worse,
What happened to King? I thought he was one of the non-RINO congressmen. Saying that someone’s opinion on an issue is incorrect is one thing; calling it a fraud is something else.
Mark Levin has been calling him out for awhile.
I had to check to see if this was satire. The gopE isn’t even pretending to like the Tea Partiers anymore. Either they think they’ll get their votes because there’s no place else to go, or they think they don’t need them.
