There was showdown on Capitol Hill yesterday when Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) ripped into Sarah Hall Ingram, the former head of the IRS division that targeted conservative groups and the current director of the Affordable Care Act Office at the IRS, for waiting five months to come before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. As TheBlaze reported earlier Wednesday, the Oversight Committee hearing focused on emails between Ingram and top
White House officials that allegedly contained confidential tax information, a violation of IRS code.

Section 6103 of the IRS code prohibits federal employees from “disclos[ing] any return or return information obtained by him in any manner in connection with his service as such an officer or an employee.” Disclosing any such information is punishable by up to five years in prison.

“Jim Jordan interrogates the IRS Affordable Care Act head. And this is Sarah Hall Ingram,” Glenn said on radio this morning. “She’s, remember, most people haven’t connected these dots yet, the IRS is in charge of your healthcare. And here’s the head of it yesterday in front of Congress:”

“Unbelievable,” Pat said. “It truly is. She can’t speak to what’s been redacted even though she wrote it.”

“And gang, it’s not about money. It’s not about the President’s color. It’s not about the party. It’s about control. These people will have your personal information. They have your personal health information. Are you telling me you don’t think it’s getting worse from here,” Glenn asked. “[The IRS] oversees your entire life now. And if that’s not enough, throw in the NSA that can track you, listen to you, read everything that you write, know every purchase you made. Are you out of your mind? America, I ask you sincerely: Are you out of your mind?”

Sharing taxpayer information is a felony. In a nation of laws, one would expect that to be her fate. Unfortunately, we have become a nation of men and not laws.

Jordan is by far the best politico to come out of OH since John Ashbrook, but he is overwhelmed by the others in the delegation.

Sound and fury signifying nothing. Wake me up when the GOP actually does something about this. There is enough evidence to show that the IRS was targeting convervatives (not just Tea Party, either). Lerner and Ingram should be in jail, not collecting a federal paycheck or retirement pay.
