Is Cruz Causing a Democratic Wave? Maybe, but Don’t Jump the Gun (liberals lack logic)
Roll Call ^ | October 11, 2013 | Stuart Rothenberg

[I've clipped the entire piece leading up to his conclusion, where you will note he takes Sen. Ted Cruz to the woodshed for not compromising and looking for the middle ground - but the fact is Texans took Cruz to the U.S. Senate because he stood for what we want and he's following through on his word to the voters.. So you can decide what to do about reading the rest of his blither.]

.......One thing that now appears incontestable is that GOP Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has damaged his party badly in the short term, making the GOP look extreme, confused, unreasonable and unappealing. If you have been a regular reader of this column, that shouldn’t surprise you.

In June 2012, leading up to the Texas GOP Senate primary between Cruz and Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, I wrote about my interviews with both candidates:

The difference between the two men is simple: Cruz is not willing to compromise even if it means being irrelevant to the legislative process, while Dewhurst is willing to look for middle ground. …

Indeed, given his worldview and personal style, I’d expect Cruz to become a significant voice for conservative purists who believe their party has been too willing to give up on principle.

If elected, Cruz certainly will join the GOP’s “Uncompromising Caucus,” which includes DeMint, Lee, Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and a handful of others, making it more difficult for his party’s leadership and for the Senate to deal with the nation’s problems.

That assessment of Cruz has been borne out by recent events. We’ll need to wait at least a few more months to see whether he has done enough to make Pelosi speaker once again.

Yeah right! Obamacare is now an enormous millstone around every democrat’s and every moderate republican’s neck!

Thank you Ted Cruz!

Cruz is standing his ground on conservative values and is detested by the left because of it. And of course, also detested by McLame, whom I wish would be recalled by the voters of Arizona.

And watch the weakest among us buy into this garbage. Those with a vested interest in undermining Ted Cruz are now laying the ground work to give him the Sarah Palin treatment.

They can’t use the “idot” label that they tried to hang on Palin, so now they’ll try to hang the “extremist” tag on him.

And yet, Obama is viewed considered “mainstream”. The guy is a radical, vindictive MARXIST.

I SUPPORT TED CRUZ.

As far as I’m concerned, there is no “middle ground” on ObamaCare. That monster needs to be destroyed before it can do any more harm to our country. To save America, ObamaCare needs to be totally destroyed and the evil carcass burned.

In my opening comment I wasn’t clear because I left out “NOT.” I will add that clarifying word now:

[I’ve clipped the entire piece leading up to his conclusion, where you will note he takes Sen. Ted Cruz to the woodshed for not compromising and NOT looking for the middle ground - but the fact is Texans took Cruz to the U.S. Senate because he stood for what we want and he’s following through on his word to the voters.. So you can decide what to do about reading the rest of his blither.]

This article is laughable to me as a minority. Obama was the true extremist but anyone that pointed this out was considered racist. How the world has turned upsidedown for these leftists as one, Cruz, who is trying to defend our freedoms is now being labeled as an extremist. The left pushed the true extremist on the American people, hypocrites, every darn one of them.

The Left is always first out of the box, intent on defining their enemy. The MSM picks up the meme and reprints it because that’s what their leadership wants.

I was too young in 1979-1980 to gauge how the GOP-e's attacks on Reagan mirror those on Cruz now.

Can any FReepers enlighten me?

At the end of the day when obamacare craters, Ted Cruz will come out the real hero in all of this. He did the right thing by trying to stop it at the eleventh hour. No doubt in my mind. Open enrollment is just around the corner. When this madness gets underway and people get a load of their new premiums or get kicked onto the exchange, or realize they still can’t afford it, people will be so freakin’ angry - I don’t care which party you’re in.

Looking for middle ground for 60 years has caused all of the evil that is destroying America today.

If you are interested in learning more, these are 2 good books on the topic by Craig Shirley:

“Reagan’s Revolution” - about Reagan’s 1976 campaign - the battle that shook the Republican party.

“Rendezvous with Destiny” - the 1980 presidential election - and Reagan’s victory.

I’ve lost the name of who said this, but he said, “Cruz is off the chart intelligent.” I’d hire him. I SUPPORT HIM. Ruin the day for liberals.

I am starting to wish I were a low info voter. What is all this info doing for me? This is so sad that one person in congress, standing up for the principles we were all taught in grade school, the freedom we celebrate every July 4, is slung with mud while an absolutely idiotic power hungry corrupt witch like Pelosi is praised.

What Cruz really did was expose how our Party is damaged goods.

“making it more difficult for his party’s leadership and for the Senate to deal with the nation’s problems.”

Shouldn’t this read, “making it more difficult for his party’s leadership and for the Senate to cause the nation problems.”

A quick glance at the past 80 years of “leadership” from both parties will reveal: enormous growth in taxation of Americans, enormous waste in gov’t expenditures that have returned negligible benefits to Americans, broad and complex restrictions on every definable aspect of Americans’ lives, enormous growth in demands on Americans’ time as Americans must comply with complex and confusing forms, regulations, and requirements for all manner of activity, categorization of Americans into groups and fomenting of hostility among the groups, extensive rejection of the fundamental laws of this country distancing gov’t from the citizens.

Compromise and problem solving has devastated families, severely weakened the quality of education, promoted a degenerate culture with its attendant harm, and locked millions of Americans into dependency for much of life’s necessities.
