Rove: Longer Holdout Means Weaker GOP
NewsMax ^ | 10/16/2013 | Greg Richter

Posted on 10/16/2013 3:07:48 AM PDT by TexGrill

Republican strategist Karl Rove says the GOP should quit while it's not as far behind as it could be.

Appearing Tuesday on Fox News Channel's "On the Record," Rove said Republicans fighting for concessions on Obamacare and entitlements are weakening their position the longer they hold out.

"At some point you have to focus on, as Ronald Reagan said, getting as much of the pie as you possibly can get," Rove said.

Republicans aren't even going to be able to get 80 percent of what they want now, he said, because they have been weakened over the last two months by fighting for something that was impossible to get: defunding Obamacare.

"And the longer this goes on, the less leverage they have," Rove said.

That's one reason Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., "threw the ball to them" and stopped Senate discussions, Rove said. Reid knew Republicans couldn't get together on a bill, he said, and wanted to weaken them further.

House Speaker John Boehner presented a bill early Tuesday that would have funded the government through mid-January and extended the debt ceiling through mid-February while talks continued, but he was unable to muster enough support to pass it.

A scheduled Tuesday night vote was called off.

You definitely don’t need any more pie Mr. Rove, and you surely have no consent to interpret a President whose shoes you are unfit to shine.

Well, we got the House of Representatives in 2010, which controls spending (no thanks to Karl Rove, BTW). and now they are doing what we sent them there to do.

Trying to pull that privileged GOP elite spoon out of his mouth is pointless. His view is that the GOP is weakened.

Well, HEAR! HEAR! Our young men and women we sent to Congress in 2010 are doing exactly what their constituents want, to take back this government from politicians so entrenched in their own personal power and perks that they’ve forgotten what real America is like.

I don’t care about Boehner being able to control the troops - he’s a crappy crying baby leader anyway. No balls, no backbone, no bite. Our guys up there now need to stand firm and stand tall - they’re doing a great job.

We need to keep money away from Obama as long as humanly possible. This country needs to see the extent of the lows he is willing to stoop to so that his leeches remain fed and his destructive programs remain idle.

Better that Obama goes bankrupt now than three years later when Washington gives us over $20 trillion in debt.

Let’s get it over with and cut the credit cards now!

Karl Rove is the most anti-conservative, insidious commentator on TV today.

Though different in style, looks and delivery, he is every bit the Goebbels of our time.

Just watch how glib and supportive he is of GOP capitulation, "moderation" and "cooperation". Watch him closely...and listen carefully. He never speaks of liberty, freedom, the will of the people, the founding principles, taking a moral stand, fighting evil and corruption.....never.

He's only a political conniver....and one of the smoothest and best members of Obama's far-flung team of ringers.

And note how he NEVER gets interrupted or overtalked by any of the Fox hosts during his omnipresent appearances on the Fox evening lineup.

He is there to provide the propaganda for the destruction of conservatism....and he goes about his task faithfully and doggedly....with full rein from Fox.

I turned Greta off last night, also. Besides being a program filled with tedious Democrat and GOP-lite propaganda, it was also riddled with so many commercials that it became ridiculous. Her whole show was just a dump of garbage from beginning to end....and a waste of time for any thinking viewer.

Karl Rove's most ardent desire is to be the Republican Kingmaker, the Mark Hanna of the 21st Century.

Considering the job he did for the GOP in 2012, he's beginning to look more like Arianna Huffington.

And sounding a lot like her too.

Rove: Longer Holdout Means Weaker GOP

He says that like it's a bad thing. History is repeating itself, as in the 60's when the Rockefeller / Romney / Lodge elitist wing first had to be overcome before Goldwater could ultimately give us Ronald Reagan.

THAT, Mr, Rove, is what is happening here.

Let us be honest by all means. What ever leverage they have, the Vichy GOP never ever intent to use it.

All their “blustering and maneuvering” is all for maximum showbiz. More on the right side are starting to wake up to it.

AND IT IS A GOOD THING, because America as is will not last much longer.

Rove seems to willfully choose to not understand the game here. First side to blink here loses not just the battle but the entire war. I realize the GOP leadership has been trying to blink since the beginning but have been cut off by Cruz and Lee in the Senate and the conservatives in the House.

Now is the WORST and most damaging time to give in.

A caller this morning to the William Bennett show said she was tired of hearing establishment Republicans tell Cruz, et al. what they should have done.

"Don't should on us," she said.

Good one.

A google search found the phrase used a few times dating back to the 1990s (golly I remember when we talked about the 1890s.)

.. anyway this google search of FR
site:www.freerepublic.com "don't should on"
found just one thread that contains it.

The Republican party is not as far AHEAD as it could be, Karl. Each day that the House holds off the communist democrat party is a plus for this Republic. Exactly what is the upside of continuing to facilitate the traitors now in control of our country? The tea party is gathering strength as concerned and watchful citizens of America absorb the horror of the communist exercise of power over the entire govt and population of our country. Each member of the House won their election and have the duty and obligation to exercise their judgment about how to serve their constituents and country. Karl Rove is the go between for liberal republicans and communist democrats who have designs of their own on the future of this Republic. My position regarding the future of the Republican party is to let the chips fall, the sooner the better. The Tea Party is alive and well. The Republican party is sick and needs their help. Full speed ahead for all of the opposition to Obama and the hordes of confederates and fellow travelers now entrenched in our government.
