Obamacare Needs 7 Million People Sign Up Or It Goes Under

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - The Affordable Care Act website will be taken down this weekend so experts can try to fix some of the glitches in the system.

The website was unveiled in the beginning of October, and millions of Americans have been struggling to use healthcare.gov to shop for health insurance.

Not only are the users having problems with the system, but health insurance companies have also run into technical glitches.

Insurers say they've only received a handful of applications and they're getting duplicate applications, missing information and data without a time stamp.

I think the problem is deeper than 7,000,000 enrollees. In order to be successful in reducing premiums—or merely to keep premiums within their current range in the private market, the enrollees can’t be an ‘adverse selection’ of applicants.

Adverse selection occurs when the only enrollees are those who have expensive prior ailments or those who don’t have to pay because they are poor.

Obamacare has to have millions of young, healthy invincibles’ who will pay premiums but won’t produce a lot of claims in order to work. If you get 7,000,000 people with either a continuing disease/illness or free coverage, then you have only burdened the system further with enrollees whose coverage will cost more than they pay for it.

Young folks who opt to pay the $95 penalty instead of paying monthly premiums won’t help the system at all.

This is fantastic! Is it possible to collect enough money to put this on a billboard somewhere? Would a company allow it? This ought to be plastered everywhere.

Then, I’ll get Obamacare. They can’t refuse you for a pre-existing condition.

My guess they'll charge you out the azz for it.

“My guess they’ll charge you out the azz for it. “

They have it price limited by some formulae. But, even if they do, it will only be until whatever problem is fixed. (Assuming they don’t go British Health Ministry on my *ss.)

One upside to all of this is that working Americans will go to healthier life styles so not to have to go to the doctor.

You don't know much about human nature, I'm thinking. Sounds logical, but it won't happen. Most of us that have medical issues requiring periodic medical attention didn't get there by way of lifestyle.

Unfortunately you are right.
