In Search of Republican Grown-Ups (Do really need to put Barf Aleart...it's the NYT)
The New York Times ^ | 10/24/2013 | THE EDITORIAL BOARD

The leaders of the Republican Party, in full flight from their disastrous and juvenile shutdown stunt, now want to restock their ranks with grown-ups. “Let’s face it: it was not a good maneuver,” Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah told The Times recently. “You’ve got to have the adults running the thing.”

Mr. Hatch and other establishment senators believe that grown-ups would not threaten the country’s full faith and credit, or keep the government closed, in order to get their way. That’s true, but it’s a rather pallid definition of maturity. A mature and responsible political party would do more than prevent a government default; it would offer serious solutions to the nation’s most pressing problems instead of running from them.

And it is there that Republicans — whether adults or Tea Party members — continue to let the public down.

Why do you post stuff from the New York Times? I grew up in New York and read it a lot. It was only as an adult that I realized that they were pushing a leftist ideology. As far as I am concerned, the New York Times is worthless and unworthy of any person’s attention. They publish all the lies that they can print.

The leaders of the Republican Party, in full flight from their disastrous and juvenile shutdown stunt...

Really? With obamacare currently cratering the "stunt" is looking more and more like a brilliant political maneuver. The message everyone got loud and clear out of the shutdown was "The Democrats are fighting for you! We won't let those bad old Republicans take away obamacare!" Even obama stated flat-out he would not negotiate any budget compromise that in any way impacted his precious, his obamacare. (which of course he is exempt from...) So the "stunt" has firmly hung the obamacare stone around the Democrats' necks. Over a million people losing coverage directly due to obamacare. Millions more seeing their premiums increase by double-digit percentages while coverage shrinks... This "stunt" was the coolest trick I've seen in years, and the 'rats fell right into it.

Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah told The Times recently. “You’ve got to have the adults running the thing.”

Wow, wish we could say the same about the White House, but all we've got there is a socialist, petulant, childish, liar-in-chief.

Mr. Hatch and other establishment senators believe that grown-ups would not threaten the country’s full faith and credit, or keep the government closed, in order to get their way.

That phrase says it all right there "establishment senators." To anyone with political ambitions listen closely: we are fed up with "establishment" politicians, regardless of the (D) or (R) after their name.

As for trying to lay the shutdown at the Republican's feet - not going to work. There were at least 17 budget proposals sent from the House to the Senate that were rejected because they impacted obamacare. So, exactly who was holding up progress to "get their way?"

It appears to me that the “adults” spent $17 TRILLION dollars irresponsibly. Not very adult.

I would really like to know how the Slimes defines adult. I always thought an adult takes responsibility for the care of those in his or her charge. That’s Ted Cruz, et al.

The GOPe has not been adult for a very long time, and the Dems never. The Dems are permanent teenagers, and the GOPe are like the parents who would rather be friends with their children than actually do parenting.
